Linux needs less powerful computers than Windows XP. Litestep, DesktopX, WindowBlinds are all very very light on system resources, memory usage, in absolute terms.

It's a little of both (filtering and expansion). We don't want to turn WC into a "tech site" or anything, there are already good sites that do that. But for DISCUSSING some of this stuff, having more sections to discuss stuff would make it easier. If I, for instance, posted here about say favorite Photoshop filters, it would scroll off within hours. But if there was a seperate section for discussing creating skins and such I could post that and it would stay on longer.

This is because Litestep doesn't make much use of shared DLLs while Explorer does.
I'd like to have it by Christmas but January is good too. As for future GalCiv's, they will created like we do applications where we keep buiding onto the code base. But that said, each new version will be significantly different. I.e. there will be a bunch of GalCiv 1.x's with a lot of new features but then GalCiv II would have a ton of new features not seen previously. Of course, a lot depends on how GalCiv 1 does! ;)
How is stability in 3E over previous builds?
I tend to agree. It should only list races you have diplomatic relations with. One of the next things we're hoping to have into beta 4 are nearly two dozen different reports. Right now there is only the first one and then the generic "humans progress" one which gets pretty old in a hurry.
As a gamer I'm happy to wait as the more time they have, the better the game will hpoefully be. Of course, as a developer, can you imagine what GalCiv would be like if we had 3+ years to create it instead of 1+ years? ;)
