how do i use screen panning?

I recently purchased an Asus n10j, with a 10 inch screen...the native resolution is 1280x600 but sins doesnt list ANY resolutions for me, and when i edit the file normally nothing changes...the problem is, the bottom 25 percent of the screen is cut off when i start the game... is there anyway i can get a fix for this?

well seeing as how people with the expansion can prob. play against people without it, i think there might be new options, though it prob. wont be one check box, you can prob. manually diasable the entrenchhment feats..
