If it were a matter of sending out emails to everyone it would be done in a few minutes, but in this case it requires individual confirmations

Silly question, are we talking about beta as in Google's or Valve's RC betas, or old school unstable and incomplete feature list beta?

They are updating the servers right now. 1.04 should be released soon.

I'm from the UK as well. I don't think there are any plans to release at brick and motor retail level outside of the US, but you can just buy it directly from this site as a download. Its a great game.
