Damn only 10 reviews since yesterday. That is damn disheartening to say the least. Surely people can't be that lazy and disinterested in developing this community into something special.
They're probably all too busy playing the game. ;)
I'm in the middle of my second game and completely forgot about that whole culture thing. Now my capital planet is down to 60% allegiance and dropping fast. I think it's time to start my third game.
Quick question: Is that in an MP game or against the AI? (I ask because I've yet to hear whether the computer uses cu
do you guys know, when it lauches in Europe? I live in the Netherlands and I can't find when it launches in my country. I've heard a rumor that it doesnt come out in Europe at all!!! This would be a disaster!

I live in the UK, cant find it anywhere. Play.com dont have it, GAME (the UK arm of EB) dont have it, so please enlighten me. I realise us UK gamers regularly get screwed over by US games companies, but at least give us a clue.
Unfo

I've not really seen this question addressed yet: In addition to the capital ships, do cruisers and frigates level up as well? If so, what benefits do they gain? (More hit points, better weapons, etc.?)

From what I've read of people's comments thus far, I would say to go with Option D: Allow the players to adjust the frequency of pirate attacks. It sounds like that's more of an issue than how powerful they are.
If you think Medieval 2 was a "graphical upgrade to Rome" you didn't play it for very long. The battlefield strategy was entirely different as were a lot of empire-level features. Try going back to Rome after a few months with Medieval 2. It's hard to do.
decemberscalm has the right of it -- Medieval 2 is indeed little more than a medieval skin of RTW. It had the same dumbed-down combat system as Rome, and the same dumb AI as Rome. It's mostly style over substan

All right. So we know the fleet cap (for the 1.0 version) has been set to around 300 ships (at least for now). What actually constitues a ship, though? Do fighters and bombers count as ships? Or is a "ship" referring to just the frigates, crusiers, and capital ships? Oh, and what about orbital defenses? Are they "ships", or do they not count because they take up a logistics slot on planets?
Givenn the fact that this is the same team who developped Galactic Civilizations 2 you can be sure that the AI will be up to your expectations and that you will really have hard time beating it. Now in GC2 the AI didn't cheat but it was able to wipe out the floor with you on hard level.
Actually, that's not true. Stardock is only the publisher for Sins; Ironclad is the actual developer, and therefore they're the ones who programmed the AI. It's true that Brad (Frogb

So just how big *are* fleets in Sins, anyway? I understand they're now limited by the level of logistics you've researched, but I'm still unclear as to how big/small they actually are. Also, are logistics and ships based on a pure point system (e.g., Logistics tech level 1 grants you 20 points, Logistics 2 grants you 40, etc.)? Or do players have a certain number of ship slots they can fill (e.g., 4 capital ships, 8 frigates, and 12 fighter/bomber squadrons)? How exactly does it wo

So let me get this straight about the upkeep: If you lose a ship in battle, do you still have to keep paying its maintenance costs anyway? I think I'm missing something here.

A quick question for those who've played the beta: Do crystal and metal asteroids eventually become empty and run out material, or will mines be able to extract resources from them indefinitely? (While they're normally inexhaustable in a standard 4X game, I wasn't sure if that would be the case with Sins, since it's a 4X-RTS game.)
the biggest obstacle towards quick multiplayer now is people's adamant adherence to the crappy strategy of turtling. while it may seem initially effective the person who runs around offensively grabbing from other people will eventually outproduce you, and then will proceed to beat you over the head. thats even IF they have to fight on multiple fronts at once. (esp if they are vasari, can you say phasegate banonza?)
....Which is yet another reason why I don't play MP gam

Definitely singleplayer. I generally lack the patience -- and even more importantly, time -- to play against other people, regardless of what type of game it is. With SP, I can play according to my own schedule. :)

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I confess I lack the energy to sift through dozens of threads looking for the answer: Is the Collector's Edition of Sins only available through the website here, or will it also be on store shelves as well (EB, Best Buy, etc.)?

Hey folks! Been keeping an eye on this game for a while now, and I like what I see thus far. :HOT: I do have one question, however: How does one actually take over planets? Do you simply have to destroy the defender's ships along with any orbital defenses the planet may have? How do planets change ownership, exactly?

Cool. Thanks for the replies guys. (And no, I'm not in the beta -- I don't have the patience for them!)

Apologies if this has been brought up -- indeed, I'm sure it has -- but I couldn't find the answer to my question in the Features, FAQ, or in the first 10 pages of the forums here: How many planets will each map size have? 20-40-60? 5-30-100? I'm just trying to get a sense of how epic this game will be....and speaking only for myself, bigger is usually better.

Reply to Welcome! in Sins News

Man, this simply rules. The developer of my current favorite game (Stardock) and Ironclad teaming up simply seems too good to be true. I've been looking forward to Sins coming out for a while already, and I think it's terrific that it's going to be published by the makers of GalCiv 2!
