another thing you could add to this mod is a speed increase to some of the ships. just change the acceleration related modifiers in the files.

but from a semi reliable source I think that Yarlen is reliable and not just semi reliable . https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=440&aid=160826&p=1 reply 11 We're currently aiming for the 2nd week of September, but we'll see how things go.
I wish the graphics were not replaced by icons so soon when zooming out a little. 2. Perhaps ships in a fleet should jump all at the same time. There probably is some reason for fleets, but their inability to jump based on the speed of their slowest member really makes them just a mass of ships. you can change the camera mode so you will still see the ships as ships even zoomed. -go to options->interface->press on show main i
I want my ships to stay where they are. If I plant them just out of the range of the gauss platforms, I don't want them moving into the kill zone and getting blown up just because someone thinks it would look cool. archpsi, your little scenario there could easily be accomplished with a bit of micromanagement. I think you and many others are missing the point entirely, the ships do not need to always move a
A moving target in space is no harder to hit without sudden, erratic movement. That movement would put it at risk of hitting other friendly vessels, their fire, or even space debris. Missiles, lasers, are impossible to miss with in space without the intervention of countermeasures. Kinetic weapons move too fast to miss unless you had poor aim to begin with. Like they wouldn't have computer assisted aim. After reading around the fo
what the duce?? whatever you type after or below the following symbol will be reversed, works in msn, notepad, firefox...ect (the circle star thing is the symbol) ҉ ҉just copy paste this symbol and start writing next to it.
҉looks quite nice.
my thoughts are about the same as mshe, the combat and game needs a bit more life to it. I think once beta 3 is out and theres possibly new races, that it will add a lot more life to it.
if teching is extremely slow as suggested, it would make many MP 1v1/FFA games (the opponents are not gonna trade vital techs if it can be used vs them) never ever get to higher research, doubt it will even get to tier 2 in many cases.
hi the suggestion is to add a morale factor to each ship that is determined based on a few factors 1- how many foes defeated in current battle. 2- how many allies have died in current battle. 3- special weapons that are used to reduce the morale or special buffs that increase morale. 4- race, one race will be impacted a lot more by morale than others and maybe one race wouldnt even have it. Morale would influence the effeciency of the ship damage/special abiliti
hi just a suggestion, make a replay forum. That way each person who has a nice replay can make a thread with a very brief description of the game setting or some story behind it and a link to his/her replay. One of the main reasons for each replay to have be a thread, is that it makes it much easier for the authors to get feedback specifically for that replay and for others to discuss each replay. If another forum is being used for replays atm, Im sorry I didnt notice
another thing to add would be: choose what capital ship you start with .
but it would just make all three races more alike then different. Which is a very bad thing! Diversity makes for better gameplay then a god ship. I keep on seeing this reply in nearly all the flagship threads, I disagree with it. Nothing about having a flagship will make the races less diverse as long as the flagship is unique for each race and somehow represents the race in its uniqueness. for example the flagship of the vasari would
checkout the sc2 gameplay videos, its roughly 19-20 minutes in total. well theres 3 versions of the gameplay videos, they have different quality. 1- no music, no explanations, no crowd 2- no crowd 3- everything. 1- no explanation by designer: -this is like the above massive battle video (doesnt have music like the above link). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXpLQUVy6rU&mode=user&search= -nearly the full thing, no explanation/music, and is missing th
I'm not sure why you just dont modify it (I'm sure that you know how to based on your post). Are you trying to make it so each player starts with a different planet type? unlike with the ships, were modifying capitalbattleship would impact all of them, modifying terranhome, will only impact starting planets, although it would modify it for all players.
Modding Hints: 1. If you want to change the ship you start with, look in the Player files. 2. If you want to create a brand new ship that you can modify without affecting any other ships, start by copying and pasting another ship and modifying it. 3. Get a tool that allows you to 'find in files' for certain strings in a directory. number 1 is what i was looking for, thanks.
I was referring more to archpsi's problem The modding functionality is now there, but its not part of the user interface yet. hi can you give me a hint(which file) on how I can modify the flagship statistics without it impacting the ships from the ship model it uses??
that lets you change it into other ships (as I mentioned already), but doesn't make it unique from whatever ship type you made it into. the problem with that is that if you make it a carrier(swapping the names around) and then modify the carrier stats, so the flagship has really good stats. later on when you build carriers they will also have these really good stats. I want a way to isolate the flagship from impacting other ships. maybe I could try creating a new ship file and
With the recent patch, has anyone figured out how to modify the stats of the flagship without effecting the battleship?? or which ever model the flagship is based on (its simple to make the flagship a carrier, siege capitalship...)
Making the flagship unique from any other built ship would be a step in the right direction, it doesnt even have to be mega if some people think megaships would cause issues(inert). Atm having a flagship that is just a normal ship is quite shallow.
since 2000 most succesful rts or similar games, give the option of making units move in a formation/semi-formation(stay next to each other, but not exactly). The option usually comes either via a hotkey/little icon on side and so on. I do think the units should at least when grouped together move as one group based on the slowest unit and that should be easy to implement.
I wonder if its possible to even seperate the starting ships atm, or seperate the flagship from normal battleships(what Im trying to do ).
I went through nearly all of the files inside gameinfo that didn't start with ability*.* buff*.* research*.* in there name to find the file that sets the starting ships. it doesnt seem to be in the ship files themselves or anything to do with the ships(their techs or factories that make them files). it doesnt seem to be in game setup file (forgot exact name). it doesnt seem to be in constants file. trying to figure this out, so I can try adding a new unique ship type(do

I disagree with you that the game runs too quickly. This is supposed to be a rts not a tbs, the issue is that rts that take too long, will be too long for mp games. I think most players wanna finish mp games within 2-3 hours, not 11+. An option would be to let the creator of the game select a constant gamespeed at the start of the game for: 1)income per minute. -how much resources a tier 1 metal extractor would give per minute 2)ship movement/space combat speed. 3)r
