If you can manage yourself while playing this game on two computers at once, I say the sheer work-effort that goes into this makes you deserve the win. :)

Shame on you. [link="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhB1AZCaP6U&feature=related"]This [/link]is what happens when you use too many stock sounds. :)
Another classic proverb is "Keep your allies close, and your enemies even closer" :) I luckily haven't been on the recieving end of a treacherous alliance, nor the giving. My game example showed one of the lighter versions of diplomacy turning out bad. Me and my buddy ganging on a hostile nightbor, which resulted in the nightbor seeking help from the only group that would have some interest in seeing our destruction. Perfectly legit. If i'd been ganged by two other players, I w
Nope, because I'm going to colonize 7 or 8 planets in the first 20 minutes of the game. That technology will be needed. Odds are in your favor.
If you colonize planets that fast, you will leave yourself with a huge underdevelopement penalty. And the bigger the penalty, the longer it will take for you to make the cash required to improve the planet. I'd love to see a replay where you put your tactic to use against a human opponent. I usually don't even notice that scouts costs me anything. Build 2 from start and have them autoscout. My cap ship usually have colonize as a skill (unless I've got a nightbor right next to me), and by the time it clears out a grav well, it has enough anti-matter to colonize. Going flying out with the fleet from start without having any idea what's at the end of the stop sounds like pure idiocy to me. And if you don't know whats at the first 6-7 grav-wells around you within 3 minutes (t
I've always had the idea in RTS game that I'd happily give up 50% of my fleet in exchange for getting reliable intel on what my opponent was doing. Seriously, knowledge is power. I'm not saying that you should have ships probing him all the time, but having an scout flying into his sectors once in a while to see what kind of ships he's massing in his fleet can give you a good edge to counter him before you actually meet him. Also, having a scout parked in a bottleneck system, k
Remember that by holding down alt and clicking a ship will select all the ship of that type in the grav well. If you hold down shift + alt, you can add the selections together. It took some time for me to figure out the fleet stuff as well. Safest bet is just have your shipyards rally point set on the flagship of the desired fleet if you want to make sure that they get to the fleet where you want them. I also only just found out that you can select a fleet by clicking on the bi
A litle off-topic, but why is it that people who rant resort to using ... everytime they have to finish a sentence? Doesn't exactly add to their credibility.
I believe that I was in that game - if so, I was a victim of your deception. The game should have been over in about 1.5 or 2 hours, but because of the lies, it went on almost endlessly and was really one of the most frustrating and boring games I had played. What, 4-5 hours later, the host finally quit and destroyed the game for everyone. It was really a huge waste of time. To sum things up for everyone, we formed an alliance against some clan guys and the host, primarily becaus
Guess that means you have to make a new game name every time you've been playing dirty right? :D Even if it's FFA and it's supposed to be everyone for him/her self, not everyone takes lightly to getting backstabbed.
I'm writing this one because I got to have some "moral issues" after playing a 10 player FFA in a huge galaxy. As you can probably imagine, the game was a nexus of screw-overs and alliances and it should be, that's an integral part of the multiplayer experience just like it was an integral part of Galciv2. But I came to think: How far can you take the masquerade? Can you just out-right lie in peoples faces when they ask you something? Just act like the greatest bastard in the unive
Google for video capture software? Personally I use camtasia. I was wondering about the high definition video. Now you said that max limit is 50 mb for the video, is that even do-able with such high quality settings for the video render? I know it's only 2 minutes, but dang.
Ye my sound won't go lower than v9.2 either. But I don't think that should come off as too much of a problem.
Question about the two version of the video that you write about up there. Is the Standard definition video suposed to be the one that is uploaded to GT, and the High definition is the one that get's handed over to PC gamer in case it wins?
ah well. Guess I'll have to adapt then :)
Hmm. Is there any possibility of getting a tiny bit of leniency on the rule about being under 2 minutes? If fx. the video was all planned out with the audio, but the darn thing ends up running a 2 min and 5 seconds. Is there nothing to do at all there?
Pirates are icky in large numbers, but beatable! You're playing as the TEC, which have some interesting toys to play with. As you're rebuilding your fleet, take a look at the Marza and Dunov capital ships! The Marza (when leveled up)can do some AoE damage, and the Dunov is a very good complement to the Kol And don't mistreat your Hoshiko cruisers, they save lives
I'm gonna have to look into those cap ships in case that i (most likely) run into that situation aga
Hi there. I'm also almost brandnew to this game. Only found out about it a month ago. Been playing RTS for quite a few years, some with more succes than others, also played GCII quite a lot (heck I even played Masters of orion 2 back when it was released), so I've got quite a few years on my back. Here's how my first actual game went down and my impressions for it: So far the impressions are generally good. Like Tekkor I started out with a 1vs1 in a random map on easy after
