I tried the mod for the the first time and I would like to tell you about my most memorable memory of it: After making it round my Flagship, a prouded Halcyon was at level 7. I received that a pirate party is about to raid one of my frontier colony. This colony is an asteroid belt guarding by a Starbase with tier 2 weapon upgrade and surrounded by 5 Laser platforms and one hangar. So I thought I would park my Helcyon "behind" the starbase for some quick EXP. The pirates

gameplay wise, sure it's annoying. But if you want to argue on realism than the current turn model for Sins is pretty accurate. - In space, theorically you can turn using sub-engine just like how satelite use rockets to adjust their flypath nowadays. However, while we don't need to rely on inerta or aerodynamic, the Force VS Mass relationship still exist in space. Say a ship has a main engine of 500K Newton and several subengine of about 2k Newton each. Theorically, a ship can make a

I bought it on the night of release (Steam Version), and I must say it was one of the worst purchase I have made in years. Not only it has all the bugs people mention so far, there is one particular thing that I consider game killer: Idiotic AI. Either the word idiotic was made in the beginning of the time speficially for the day this game is released, or we need to come up with a new definition for the wo

It's basically fall down to the game model, and Sins is just not a model for it. Most games (including Sins) use a simple attrition model. Meaning when something is called "more powerful", it almost come down to higher numbers. It means something no matter how weak if amass enough number can beat something else no matter how powerful it is. It's like saying if you gather enough people and firearms, you can eventually take down a tank even if the only things you us

Well, I has been experimenting a lot with the fight and I would like to throw out a few thought and things that I done. Since it may be a lot of change I made so I hope you won't get angry and thinking I am telling you what to do with the mods, at best treat these as suggestion and please know that I fully respect and enjoy the mod. The majority of my times had been spent playing the Alliance, and I notice IMO, many odds things. They are mostly game balance and such. - Shield

but the Empire's startbase right has this built in right and I think it cover the entire well, since I think it still came under effect when I tried to jump out almost on the other side of the gravity well comparing to where the starbase is, or at least a good 1/3 radius from it.

I'm basically going through a series of a 2vs8 or 3vs7 games locked team, and I can see what you mean. The Empire is defintely a no-no for this set up since they die way too quick and the fleet lack pretty much any survivability. The Rebel ship definitely live a hell lot longer. The empire line up seems to have the somewhat oposite problem to the Rebel, some of the battleships barely have enough energy to sustain themselve over a minute long engagement. I think the basic framework is

Uhm I don't think that's what I'm saying. I don't consider it a weakness, as I never consider Bomber a threat to the starbase. If the enemy sorely relies on bombers to take our a starbase they would take too long to make a point anyway. Plus the real threat to a starbase is the Altillery unit, and I have no complain about them. It's not really trying to make the SB a super structure, but more like to deal with some pet-peeve annoyance. The capacity of 3 AA frigates is not much an

Anyone think the starbases should have some passive anti-strikecraft built in. I don't mean some excessive ability, but maybe give it the equivalent capacity of 3 Anti-strikecraft frigates? Now I know some of you will say "it already has some, it's the hangar". To me Fighter is never a good counter to bombers, they're too fragile and there is no guarantee the AI will chase after whatever they're supposed to. If I ever want to build a hangar I prefer to stock them with bomber anyway. T

Hello Jason, I download your mod yesterday and so far I really enjoy it. I played a 5 hours straight game last night as The Rebel, aside from the starwar stuff I also like the enhancement on other things. I haven't played the TEC yet but when I ran into thier KOL, I must say I'm impressed with the firework it put up. As part of my "Entrechment" with the Rebel, I think there are some oddity with their Capship ability line up: - Animosity: to me this is the least use ability. It

^ eh ... I don't think I meant to make a game out of Starship Operator, I just mean that in term of space combat physic and orientation, Starship Operator has a pretty reasonable presentation. That doesn't mean it will make a good game. In game, fun >> realisim. I guess that's why most space combat games (or any games) are made to show case the awn effect, not a correct presentation. If you think about it, almost any simulation games that gear heavily toward real phys

I mean just the base model. Since GC2's texture looks a bit like plastic so redoing it into a more metallic look in Sins is a must anyway. But hey, having the base model there is at least 1/3 of the work done (well, maybe half, but I'm generally bad at texturing). Btw, on the subject, anyone know a way to take good picture from GC2 model for rotoscoping? I think I saw a few people doing this for their mod promoted pictures in GC2 but I have no idea how.

No need to scream, espeacilly when you haven't think through your analysis :p
If you fire a missile and MISS, WHERE DOES IT GO?! Into a Sun? In a slingshot to Earth? On a Commet? A Moon? Asteriod?
Eh ... who care? Space is big, if you misfire a hundred missiles in the same direction, the chance of its causing some catastrophic incident is about as big as a snow ball in hell. The Sun? It'll be burned before even touch it. The earth? Sure, if it can survive

I'm doing modeling for a mod I'm working on. Right now I use Galciv 2 to create a model and they try to make it for Sins. Having a similar ship builder in Sins probarbly impossible, but do you think it is also a dream to have a script that convert the Galciv 2 ship model file into a Sins compatible format? Didn't put much thought into this, just kinda come across the idea when I was working on a model. :)

Personally I don't care about a campaign in 4X game, not only because they usually don't need one, but also because I rarely see one that is done in a way that I can agree with. 4X games tend to have deep and extensive gameplay, and unless it's done dynamically I want no part of it. For example, I own Dread Lord and Dark Avatar, played and enjoyed them throughly but do you know how many campaign missions I played? Anyone here watched the anime series Starship Operator? Personally I think if there will be ever be space combat, that's the most realistic model. Each ships are several dozen thousands kilometers a part attacking with long range weapon that take a few seconds to hit. Think about it, navy ships are about the biggest hardware we have these days and even in WWII, they already engage from a few kilometers apart, nowaday they engage each other froms several dozen kilometers a part. For people with HW. Get the PDS mod, it's pretty much a remade of the the entire game, epic is the only word to describe.

I played it and actually like it. I think the main draw of the game is its combat orientation reminds me of Nexus: Jupiter Incident which I still hold as having the best space combat gameplay.

Hey guys, finally trying to create my own map. But so far, despite trying different settings. I usually end up with these: - A Donut. - A broken system. - The starting planet is wayyyyyyyyyy apart from the other planets. well, we're not neccessary have to increase the number of Squadron, we can just increase the number of planes in a squadron (2 4planes squadrons or 1 8planes squadron, more or less the samething). Seeing how the Advent can increase the number of their squadron I think there should be a way to do that.

At aldo14, thanks. I think I reconize a few stuffs you mentioned, but I gonna have to look at them further for myself, but they'll give me a lead. Most of my modeling were for NWN projects and I tend to suck pretty back at texturing though. I'm using 3DMax 6. I wished I had the money when that Caligali package was on sale >_ I think FS is going to fit well into the Sins setting. Example for Terran Frigates: GTC Aeolus GTC Fenris GTC Leviathan GTSC Fau
