Just to place another post: Guys, do be aware that the beta client is from early November -- and is way out of date.
Ron, I don't understand what you mean. When connecting with SDC it shows the Sins beta (0.90[b].035) with a January 2, 2008 date; and the issue of the missing icons still exists in this latest version.

Hyquist, You were / are absolutely correct! I guess maybe I actually was 'being picky' even though that was not my intention. Good Friday and Easter Monday are observed as holidays by many people in the US as well. Relative to SoaSE I am very frustrated with the CTD, and am anxious (too much so?) to get an update that fixes it. Thus each day waiting seems longer than it really is.
Multianna, On the automated reply what do they use in the 'Subject' of the email, or is it simply "Re:" whatever you used for a subject? Also, is their email address on the automated reply shown as "" or something different. I am just wondering if my company's email system blocks them ... possibly thinking they are spam.
That is exactly where I have sent all my SmartException logs, etc., and I have not received a single response ... automated or otherwise. Have you actually received automated responses? If yes, that probably means they have not received any of my emails.
I have a saved game that has 5684 objects in total. It will CTD though if any activity is started. This game was running fine until I phase jumped a fleet to another star system. I did not create any more ships or other objects. As long as my fleet sits at that star the game is fine, but if I try to attack any planet at that star system it will CTD. I have emailed the exception log to them.
When one goes to save a game, you have to retype your previous saved game name to overwrite. The simple method to fix this is allow one to see previous saved games in the save game window I wholeheartedly agree! Also, it would be nice if they would allow the user to select the location where games would be saved. Since the Registry was introduced in Windows all programmers seem to want to put everything on C dri
The last patch was April 5; so 6 business days ago. I'm not being picky ... just that I too think another patch should come out soon. I would almost be expecting them to work part of the weekends too (except holidays) when they're trying to get a product completed. I am at a point where I have stopped playing as I have 3 saved games where I am to a point where each will CTD with any further activity in them. I have sent 9 or 10 SmartException logs along with sa
I had created four different groups of ships ... 1 thru 4. I decided to put all those four groups in the same group; so I selected all the ships and assigned them to group #5 (CTRL+5). My expectation was that now the first 4 groups would no longer exist as groups. After a bit I noticed that each of the original groups, #1 thru #4, still existed and still had the original ships assigned to it. That is, I now had the original 4 groups along with the 5th group wh
Some very interesting discussion. However, I find myself wondering how much some of you have played the game so far. Seems to me many of the things mentioned are already in Beta 1. Correct me if I am wrong, but the only things mentioned not already in the Beta1 are: the ability to maintain a given formation, a limit to the 'ammunition' (or energy to fire weapons), and a reduction in capabilities as damage is taken. I too would like the formations and a l
Now, why didn't I think of that ... thanks!
... (hey, how about showing us what a game looks like without them?) Did you ever play Homeworld? And Homeworld was programmed a few years ago (meaning programmers should be able to do even more today). The only thing is, Homeworld did not have planets or stars ... only the astroids. Couldn't the two be put together? The devs did try an open concept here, but limited it to an in-house trial which wound up with them decidin
so i got this game, which is crashing all the time. with 3000 objects in total. Do you have some easy way to count all the objects? I have a couple of saved games that will CTD everytime, but I don't think I want to spend the time to actually count all the objects in the game. When the game crashes I am in the middle of a battle, but I only have about 30 ships on the screen along with whatever is built in that planet'
I've begun two games using 0.62[b].010 Beta1, and got to a point in each where it will not allow me to continue to attack planets. In each I am using a large galaxy with the max. number of opponents, high resources, etc., and when I get to about 5 or 6 planets left to conquer in my beginning star system (that means I have roughly 15 to 18 planets under my control)the problem begins. I begin to attack another planet, and all movement on the screen freezes, the normal voice
First of all, this looks like it is going to be a great game. I am running the 009 Beta 1 now. Here are some of the problems I am having with beta 1. Sound - everything will be running fine for awhile, then suddenly I notice the music is gone. I still get the battle sounds, ship sounds, etc., but the background music is gone. I have not been able to tie this to any specific event or thing I am doing yet, but I will try to watch for that. Also, I have h
I disagree. There are already people complaining that the game is easy and boring in some stages. The difficulty of getting your ships out of harm's way is good; otherwise it would be too easy. Would you like the AI to be able to 'push a button' and remove the ships from battle that you have almost killed?
My guess is that the tech tree has been cut back (as have other things) for beta 1, and it will be significantly longer in the final game.
THANK YOU!!! That subdirectory was already there (but was empty); so I moved the sig.bin file into it ... and IT's WORKING. You've made my weekend. Thank you, again, and again, and ag... I'm off to find out what these "Sins" are all about! jimmyb
My game computer does not have internet access; so I downloaded (archived) the beta via Stardock Central on another computer. I already had Stardock Central on the game computer (from installing GCII), copied the archived file into the 'backup' subdirectory of SDC, and restored the archive with SDC. Although I got a dialog box that said the game was successfully installed the install did not create any icons on my desktop nor did it create a program group; so to run it I
... You would just preorder online, then download the betas via Stardock Central when they're made available. My gaming computer does not have access to the internet. If I preorder would I be able to download the betas with one computer, but install and play them on a second (gaming) computer?
