I have some things that bug me about Impulse... 1- It's clunky. At times going very quickly, at others totally bogged down, especially when updating a game. It's almost like it has a split personality. Watching it struggle through an update that I could download direct in a quarter of the time and install on my end

Besides, they don't weigh so much after they have been in zero gee for a while.
As long as you remember to point the tail end to the back. Even in zero G, fecal matters have a tendency to concentrate themselves in the space your head is about to enter... T
I'm surprised that no one mentioned Andromeda. It was an awesome show up until they fired the lead writer mid-season 2. He later released the script summarising how it would have ended and it was clear that he'd planned an intricate political and complex story. It just annoys me that the network thought it was too "intellectual" for the mass market and wanted more Dylan-focused episodes with one-offs and simple star-trek like stories (Not that I don't like Star Trek)being more importan
While I can certainly see the appeal of humongous battle fleets fighting it out, having to control them all takes alot of that joy back. I think this to be a criticism of many modern games... They start out wonderful and end up a handful as you try to keep 100 different things in the air at once, especially when any one of them can start you down the path to ruin if you miss them. I tend to play medium games with 4 opponents at most, simply because the fleets get horrif
I use static defenses at bottleneck worlds without fail. I usually have 5,6 or even 7 hangers in a 60/40 fighter bomber split. Also have 2 or 3 repair stations and fill the rest with Gauss guns around the platforms. While true, they never actually stop an invasion, they are the cat's meow for buying time. I have my frigate and CS factories one planet back... given enough money and resources (which you better be saving for a rainy day end game) I have the time to build
TEC is a good choice to start with. Of the three factions, they are the most similar to "us" in how they operate. There are some very good threads here about the questions you raise... It sounds to me like you made a "run for the corner"... But lost. The initial thought was a good one, but when you got beat to it... That was a critical juncture in the game. Next time make a special save right there so you can play out differing strats and see what would have worked... As far as the game you post about: 1- I think you held on to your original idea too long. Once the possibility of getting that key planet was out it would be time to look at def

I was going to mention it, but it was so short a run and so long ago... Also Piznit... I do believe Earth2 was the name of that show. IIRC it was just getting interesting when it vanished. Anybody remember the Logan's run se
antracer,The problem is, some people (incl seabass apparantly) view this forum from the main stardock or impulse forums......and therefore the background is not black. It's white.....and I think by going to a lighter green you just made things even worse....lol
So does it appear as black at their end if it's white here ??? Oy... ;p T
antracer you are a very kind customer and I will help you any time you ask. However bright green on white background is just killing me.... Aside from the fact I can read the green better, it also seems I'm the only one who does it, so I am able to find posts and answers quickly... <br/
where can you find the image url and alt text that is what i need to know.like download pics from the game, sins of a solar empire, onto a post
I personally use photo bucket... It handles any pic pretty well, and gives you all the tags you need to put it on a post here without having to type anything. The account is free and pretty easy to set up. Just for the record... from Stardock Central to Impulse was a snap. I didn't have to type anything or enter anything at all. It pulled almost everything straight from SC. It did not recognize ToA as installed and wanted to reinstall it, which I did just to keep it all uniform. All in all from start to finish, including ToA, 15 whole minutes. Hardly any time at all considering what was done. I did notice that the interface was twitchy, jumpy even. It seemed
I even visited the Impulse website to see what it's about. For now I'll stick with StarDock though. My patches download automatically, take a few whole entire minutes and they're done.I recommend Impulse greatly for Sins players. I urge you to get used to it now since not only will it have all of your Sins update information, fastest access to the expansions and content updates, but it is going to have very powerful match making tools for all the online play. That and eventually it
Hi Antracer,I hope to be playing till my dying day though what kind of games we'll all be playing is anybodies guess. Like you I expect we will be playing hooked up to UBER PC's. The PC's may even have their own personalities and play along side us. Maybe we will be in total immersion games either with body suits and VR surround vision or maybe just linked direct with electrodes to our temples, totally handfree! Who knows??.
This would be great... because

It's also a StarDock thing. In GC2 when you are in the planet and ship construction window it does the same thing, forcing you to constantly have to go back to where you were. I modded my cap ships to turn and accelerate in the first few incarnations and I know very little of complex inner workings and such.
