Thank you both. That makes sense. Man, what quick replies! :CONGRAT:

You're making my point for me innociv. You have to use ships if you want any real defense. That is the problem. It would be nice if they would have a setting for defensive capability so each player could set it to their liking.
Recently I wanted to remove some of my defensive plateforms to try a different strategy (to make up for the lack of any real defense in this game). Is it possible to delete them and get some profit out of it? Do you just have to attack them with your own ships to destroy them? This seems like a very crude method. I hope there is something better that I'm unable to find.
I completely disagree MegaVolt. If this were true, we would have not been able to win World War 2. It is absurd to not have better defenses in the game. Better defenses would require better strategy and planning, not make it impossible to win. I think this is a great game, but lack of any ability to build real defenses is the single biggest weakness of the game.
Hooray for common sense! I get so sick and tired of all these, "pirates destroy everything" rants. Galactic Civ and Sins both have been a huge success and they have minimal copy protection. All copy protection does is hurt end users and give money to copy protection (thug) companies. Pirates *ALWAYS* get around the protection. I'm a loyal paying customer of Stardock games because they don't use this crap! They support users by beating pirates with features instead of crappy copy pr
Fantastic news! Hope you can add better defensive capabilities.
Great info! Thanks!
Well there are a lot of problems. First, the software is severely limited. The worst of any forums I use in fact. I can't even get email updates to threads! Font is too small and can't be reset, etc. Those are just a couple of the complaints. But yes, I have experienced a lot of slowdowns as well. Sometimes posting takes a second, sometimes 5 minutes. That is way too long.
You're definitely right about needed more defensive capabilities in this game. They're way too small at present. Hopefully this will be addressed in a patch.
How about tech? Or is this already possible? I haven't played multiplayer yet (still waiting for my friend to get it). I love the idea of being able to share tech!
It would be nice if the developers added a defensive setting to the game so each player could set the defensive amount they wanted before each game (or random).
Many of you raise some interesting points for strategy. Thanks. It's too bad that we are forced into playing a defensively weak approach. I wish this game had an option for setting defenses to whatever level you want. Personally I find it way to weak. Imagine what World War 2 would have looked like with such pathetically weak defenses...
First, I love the game. It is a lot of fun. I find it really annoying how few a number of defenses you can setup around your planets, particularly early on however. Anyone can walk through. Coming to your home system at least should require more of a force than it presently does. Setting up a good defense shouldn't have such artificial limitations. Please change the system to something more like the ship mantenance cost. Maybe a defensive cost/penalty fo
Nice! I like the big ones best. Any chance of getting some ships?
I don't know. Sounds a bit like too much crippleware to me. I liked the way DICE put out their demo for Battlefield 1942 better. You got everything but with only one map. People who liked the game couldn't wait to buy it. They knew well what exactly they were getting but with only one map were highly motivated to buy. Doesn't matter to me though. I bought it six months ago and have been playing since beta. Great game! Just hate to see too many restrictions.
A friend of mine and I are interested in playing Sins in COOP against some AI opponents, but we rarely have enough time for a full game. Can we play a little and then save it so we can pick up where we left off next time?
Has anyone heard anything about the demo? I have a friend who really is interested in this and wants to try it before he buys. I already own it and want to play it with him.
Well, I'd like to try it out and be a part of beta testing, but I have to buy it first, before I can find out if I even like it?!?! NO THANKS! I'm happy to help with beta testing, but not when I have to pay for something I can't even try first.
