I meant counter them tactically as a strong Vasari anti-structure weapon that can be deployed in enemy territory. Not that the Vasari SB shouldn't have trouble with torp cruisers. Sorry for the confusion :P

Nice list. Now I know who to play with, and hope I don't have to play against if I want to win. Bein a newb though I expect to lose most games online and hope for a learning experience. I hope I find some of these guys because I get tired of the "lul nub gimme ur mineralz, wtf are you doin, blah blah blah". Some people help point out where I suck though and that's appreciated :) By the way it is gramm a r

As there isn't time to do it for Entrenchment and as this pertains more to the theme of the 2nd expansion we'll take another look then at how it might be done. A proper ladder system or experience system would work better. In Ladder, any disconnected game counts as a loss, with NO exp. I propose instead of tracking wins/losses, have a few EXP algorithms that determines an EXP gain depending on how good you are vs your opponents (according to their EXP). ANd the only way to actually gain EXP is to stay in the game, and even if you lose you gain exp but just not as much. This would encourage people to play

Vas has been my favorite race since launch, and I think it is kind of OP. Are there any balances with the other super weapons though>

25 Replies 34,549 Views

If that's the case then they need to make an option to turn off super weapons :P I guess I didn't know that though, because most games I play don't come to super weapons. However I would imagine a larger game would come to that.

Here are some ideas I just thought of: 1) Rare trade goods like you have in Civ that are randomly placed and are either in space or found through planet exploration (give people another reason to hit that upgrade). Then in the diplomacy screen give them the option to trade these goods with allies for extra cred/resources. 2) Capital buildings. Kind of like the "manufacturing capital" and other similar buildings in GalCiv. You can only build one of

You have to keep in mind that they've done a lot of rebalancing on some of the issues you've talked about since launch (and well after the review versions). The Vasari jump gates only work in systems they already control so you can't jump right in to someone's system. If mines are laid out correctly they are extremely useful in making it a pain for large fleets to move. If they are set right you can turn what would be a massive loss into a victory if someone loses half their fleet to a well p

The Vasari have a moving starbase as one of its strengths. The TEC and Advent get powerful torpedo cruisers as one of their strengths. Their starbases also have abilities that play to their strengths like production, self-destruct, etc. Even if you play as Vasari anyways, if you place a starbase strategically, as well as structures and mines, it doesn't really matter too much if it moves. The only place Vasari will have an advantage is sectors wit

I think a reduced time with the anti-structure already equipped would be ideal, even if the starbase was made weaker or something. Or if there was some expensive research to do this it'd be cool too. If the purpose of giving the Vasari SB the anti-structure ability would be to counter the torpedo cruisers, then there needs to be a way to get them into enemy territory. Doesn't need to be extremely easy, just possible even if it's slightly defended.

I have a Vasari game that I will try to load up once I get it re-installed. I can take some screens, but probably wont do video.

That's weird. In Impulse on the upper left click on the StarDock logo. Then make sure "Show Pre-Release Versions" or click on preferences in there and make sure "Show pre-release" is checked there.

Vasari need a valid option to take out star bases though. 5 torp cruisers can take out a fully upgraded SB in no time. It's pretty tricky to get a SB built in enemy territory. Either they need to make some option/tech for the SB to jump to other grav wells or they need to be a viably buildible option for front-line assaults on other SB's. The movement of the Vasari SB is vastly over-hyped by non-vasari players here. it's NOT that much of an advantage. Yes it increases i

I right clicked Entrenchment in the "My Games" tab and clicked hide so that I could try installing normal Sins again. I want to run entrenchment in a different directory. My problem now is I can't find any way to bring Entrenchment back, or install it, or anything. It's still in my account but it's invisible. Is there some way to unhide hidden stuff that I'm missing?

Mavericka what was said above is correct. Impulse registers your keys to an email address on Stardock's servers when you register a game. The email is the one you use when you create the account (so be sure it's an account you'll probably keep forever). It appears you've made your decision but I thought I'd share my opinion as I own and love both games. GalCiv will give you more of that Civilizations feel. With a huge tech tree that is unique to e

The absense of a campaign mode is the only thing I was disappointed about with this game. The game play rocks, and this is one of my favorite games of all time. Definitely the best space RTS in my opinion. I was expecting a campaign of some sort but I wasn't expecting a huge production. I knew it was coming from a small developer. When I installed it and saw that awesome intro movie, my expectations went up and I thought I was going to take part in an epic sci-fi while dominating the galaxy.<
