Have you tried contacting ? I ask only because if there are network problems or problems with your key/account/etc. they would be the most likely to be able to help. Do you have any firewall software running? While the regular Windows Firewall doesn't block connections from your computer, other software (like ZoneAlarm and probably software from Norton or others) can. In that case it could block your connection. Just some thoughts, it's been so long since I
Thanks for that. A quick question about this Impulse software- if this updates my game, (and I may have misunderstood your point), does that mean that I need to have an internet connection on the same computer that I have the game installed in order to get any further updates? Or can I install Impulse on another machine, get the patch and then install it on my games pc? Thanks for your help.
I d
so thats where all the screen shots kept going! into application data under Local settings!
Which is perhaps the craziest place to stick user modifiable and retrievable content. It's better than putting it in the Game directory, but why on earth put it in a hidden folder?! I keep hoping that somewhere along the way they add a little logic to allow those to be redirected to a much saner place.
this might been mentioned... but perhaps a row of separate icons on the UI for cap ships. In large battles with multiple cap ships it becomes a nuisance and sometimes even difficult to find the right capital ship (which one is on CD, which one isnt, which one has the lvl 6 ability thats not on autocast...). Also, it would be nice if the icons had a number or indicator noting any unspent points because if i zoom away from a large battle to somewhere else, and i come ba
So in a fleet of two capital ships, 30-40 assault frigates, a handful of cruisers, and 25-30 LRM launchers, it's completely balanced that I can completely stomp the Advent Drone Carrier spam - a race that is HEAVILY FOCUSED ON FIGHTERS - with just four or five flak frigates? That it should be expected that their entire force should slowly crawl around and chase away at a handful of units in order to use something? how many drones? what support was there for the dro
So essentially its a zerg rush, with LRMs instead of zerglings? Sweet. Thats so what the space strategy genre needed. A way to easily no-brain your opponent to death.
Well it could also be like the whole siege frigate thing - blown out of proportion. I only lost to siege frigates once, in my very first game. After that, countering them was easy and so someone spamming them felt like it'd been blown far out of proportion.
Another options, less onerous to most I imagine, would be point defenses. Make capital ships capable of shooting down incoming missiles (or have a new ship that provides point defense). Doesn't totally change the mechanics of the game, just gives you a method to counter the effectiveness of LRMs. Have the point defenses be within a radius of the ship so that cap ships can shepherd ships within that protective field, allowing them to try and close on the LRMs.
Here's a thought for fixing spamming (though I doubt it will be popular). Make some ships just totally ineffective against each other. Think of it like this: if you attacked a mass of unarmed humans with a tank (no supporting units) in the open and up close (assuming that all the people are completely unable to panic or feel fear, so they aren't running away from the tank), the tank wouldn't really be effective at killing the people but neither would the people be effective at destroyin
Another thing would be improved targeting priority. The AI will sometimes cease attacking to run across the gravity well to kill a colony ship or the like. I don't have any suggestions how but try to make the AI a bit more intelligent on what to attack rather than just always going after the highest target on it's priority list.
Yeah, a look at targeting priorities would be nice. I haven't had any extreme examples, but I did have a couple LRM frigates helping to destroy p
I haven't had a lot of games to see if this is accurate (and thus why I hadn't posted about it), but it seems that an AI teammate may not account for your forces in system when determining which side has the upper hand. I may have missed this (as in, perhaps this is already possible), but it seems like it'd be a really slick feature to be able to designate a target for your AI teammate when you're in the middle of a firefight. Kinda goes along with the above, since if you could say "Hey
Apologies for replying more or less off topic above :) To rectify that, I agree that the diplomacy needs to be expanded - especially needing the ability for humans to make requests for the AI. I'm generally surprised since so much else is right that the diplomacy section feels half-done. Here's hoping that a patch improves that aspect significantly. :)
Are you building Cobalts to take out those seige frigates? Are you scouting ahead to see them coming? Are your Guass Defenses all clogged up against the grav well or protecting your planet? Are you using bombers? Check out these tips: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=402&aid=175318#1446763
It should say on the device itself.
Regarding 3: They do, use say an Akkan class capital from the TEC. It has to turn broadside to open up the majority of its weapons. I think you need more play time :), they definitely do maneuver in 3 dimensions. But if you're zoomed out and/or watching two capital ships duke it out then you'll miss the movements that they do make. You won't see a capital ship trying to dance about like a fighter, all that moment to accelerate does not make for a nimble vessel ;) Watch the figh
I actually considered the carrier and the siege-capship to be the useless ones. I may try out the carrier now that its gotten so many endorsements, but it seemed to me it requires too much resources to reach a critical mass where it can decide battles. The only endorsement I could give the siege capship is that it's much much better at razing planets than other capships are, and very cost-effective compared to siege frigates. I certainly wouldn't choose it to go into battle, but
Yeah, I know there are probably other threads where I could say "wow, great game", but I wanted my own ;) Seriously though, this game is spectacular. I was extremely unsure about getting it because click-fest RTS games don't hold the same interest for me (there are some I enjoy, but they aren't my favorit) as games like GalCiv2. I ended up purchasing it because I decided that the space battles looked awesome (Babylon 5 anyone? heh) and I figured if SD was involved then it'd be worth it
Hi! I've just played the game and it looks cool but if I have 10+ ships in battle then weapons fire are not showing up. I have max details, 4x AA, 1024x768. What can I do? Battles look like sh*t without it..
You might want to post your graphics card specs and such as well (and probably in the tech forum). In my second game there were easily 30+ units on screen firing and, unless I was zo
Suggestion: When moving fleets across to another gravity well, it would be nice to select where they go in the remote gravity well. They jump in relative to the position they jumped out - so if you jumped out a bit to the west of the phase lane, they'll show up west of the phase lane when they land. We won't be able to jump them into the middle of the grav well, though. Currently, you also can't control their facing
