I don't know how Ironclad's contract with Stardock works. It's possible they wouldn't publish (many games that are on PC and Mac have different publishers) if they decided to do a Mac port, so that SDC and Impulse wouldn't have to be used. It's also possible if they go Mac and keep Stardock as a publisher, that Stardock chooses to have Sins for Mac work independently of SDC and Impulse. But this is all way too speculative. -HM

Again, we must remind that Ironclad is the publisher, not Stardock, and they will have the most say as to whether the game comes to Mac. And remember, they are very small. A bug (but a very l33t bug!) compared to Blizzard. You just can't compare Blizzard doing Mac work and Ironclad. Resource differences are huge. Kryo does support for Stardock, so he may or may not know what Ironclad is thinking. If you're a bit patient, with luck, Brandon or Craig (the people interviewed) will see

I found this fairly recent interview with Ironclad saying they're considering a Mac port: [link="http://platformers.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=676&Itemid=27"]Ironclad Interview[/link] -HM

Ironclad has already stated that they want to do a campaign, but have some unique ideas of how to do it so it's done right (since they don't like tradition RTS campaigns), and they plan to put it in an expansion. Case closed. More here: [link="http://platformers.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=673&Itemid=9"]Ironclad Interview[/link] -HM

A number of years ago I was quite gung-ho about Linux, and was really with the community that was pushing for Linux games. It was going well for a while when Loki was in business. They put out a Quake 3 box, Alpha Centauri was Linux native, Epic was putting Unreal Tournament on Linux and stuck it in the Windows box, Descent 3 had a Linux box, and Wine and the Transgaming guys were doing a decent job getting non Linux native stuff working (Half-Life, Counter-Strike). It was all good. Until it

Ron, you can play Steam games w/o an Internet connection, but you need the 'net initially in order to register the game. After doing so, you can disconnect from the Internet, run Steam, Steam will note that you're offline (as long as you have the settings checked properly to cache your user information on your PC), and let you play anyway. It took Valve a long time to get this working right, but now it does. It was a mess for years. -HM

I actually compare this and TBS games to chess for my wife, because if she ever glances at what I'm doing, gets confused with it on a lot of levels. For example, she's used to me playing FPS games, so doesn't understand that when I say I'm "finished" with a game of Sins, it doesn't mean it goes on the shelf, never to be played again. -HM

The re-download is a nice bonus. When I made a new computer last year, and tried to put Oblivion on it, the disc, which originally worked fine with my old PC, only showed two files. I then tried to read the disc on the old PC - same bad result. For the heck of it, I put it in today, and the disc can't be read at all anymore. So with time the darn thing simply self-imploded (I've tried it on a few PCs - it's the disc, not my PC). If you want my honest opinion, I wouldn't be surprised

Sorceresss also makes some good comments. But I suspect if you have a monitor that's been made in the last five years, it's more than capable of running better than 1024x768 (and hopefully your card can easily handle it). "Native resolution" only matters if you own an LCD (which you probably do). If you have a CRT (like I do), it can handle different resolutions with more gusto, because the monitor is able to actually change the pixel size, whereas LCDs cannot. All that being

You cannot go back to an older version if you bought the game directly through Stardock via download. If you have it on DVD you can get back to the original version by uninstalling and reinstalling. If you saved any of the standalone patches, you can update to those versions. But this sounds like a PC issue of some sort. I'd be curious to know what kind of video card you have and what drier version you're using. -HM

I've definitely had the problem where I wipe out all the pirates' ships, and then my ships refuse to auto-attack the defenses. I did this after I had already won the game (chose the option to continue playing). I do remember reading that if you colonize the pirate planet after the game has already been won, it will not update the achievement (which is probably by design). -HM

A higher resolution gives you more pixels on the screen, thus, you can fit more stuff on it. Try this - in Windows, go into the resolution option and change it to something worse than what you have (move the slider to the left) and apply the changes. Watch how all your icons on your desktop get bigger and you now have less empty space on the screen. Now pretend that those icons are your ships and structures in Sins, and you'll see what I mean. -HM

If I had to guess (and it's only a guess), it sounds like what Brad wrote is a checklist item. I.e. something that happens in the current build that needs to be rectified. I'd go with what Blair says. After all, they're the developers, not Stardock. -HM

You need to research, build, and deploy Broadcast Centers. I assume you'll need to find a world in that system you can take over to do so (I've never played a multiple star system map, so others may be of more help). -HM

That video driver seems a bit on the old side. People have apparently been having decent luck with the new beta that came out the other week. [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/305908"]https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/305908[/link] -HM

I suspect Brad meant to say that they're going to fix the fact that the AI is likely to gang up on the leading player on easy and normal, but as it stands his comment is confusing. -HM

He's also completely full of it because I'm sure I could fairly easily find three different people, one good in Counter-Strike, one Unreal Tournament, and one Quake III, and they'd all beat him soundly in these games. Yes, even though they..."Take[sic] little brain power. If you've mastered one then you can pretty much master any of them since they're all pretty much the same. A dime a dozen." But there would just be excuses as to why he lost, so why am I even bothering continuing to f

I love it. irrnt, you are not the troll, Kruelgor is. Once one starts saying things like his last post (coupled with the other things he said above), it's clear that he's simply trying to upset people, because his logic is so, well, illogical, that it now makes me laugh. Opinion and truth are two different things when it comes to gaming genre preference. Only five year olds think they're the same. Sadly, I fell for these antics, but I won't again. And yes, what the heck doe
