Wow. First off, I'm really impressed with how everyone (for the most part) has avoided the insane flame war that generally follows a piracy thread like this. I have to say that I'm a little shocked by that 90% number...is that really true? If piracy is that bad, then I believe there's more going on than just "testing/demoing" the game. That sounds an aweful lot like stealing. And while it may be hard, or even impossible to prove it, it doesn't change the fact that the
They have about 70 scouts in one of their fleets, but they also have all the usual stuff in it as well. Its a pretty well rounded fleet, with the exception of the 70 scouts
I noticed this once too. They were trying to attack a grav well loaded with mines. Only, they didn't attack the mines...they went straight for the starbase at the other end of the mine field. LoL.
I like Annatars idea of increasing range with upgrades. That way the star bases can't be imidiatly (yeah my spelling sucks) used for offense. And perhaps an extended build time if being built in an enemy grav well?
Yup, this is now confirmed to work by SD support as well. Quoting for truth/justice/effect. Good catch on the install directory discrepancy in the first place, Shades
Thanks[e digicons][/e]
That solution also fixes the problem of normal sins loading up...in case you're wondering.
Okay, if anyones having problems with missing dlls, all you have to do is change entrenchments install directory to whichever directory sins is actually in. You can do this by clicking the stardock symbol in the upper left corner, then preferences, then folders. There'll be an option that says "Prompt for Install Directory". Click that, then install.
You're too quick for me Annatar...
Not sure if install in wrong directory is a bug or not, but should I post this in the beta feedback forum??
Ha! I found the problem. I think. Impulse is installing it in a different directory. Anyone know how to fix that?
That'd be great, but that's not the only thing missing...appriciate the help though guys. Thanks. I'll try reinstalling again.
That's not working either...one dll missing leads to another...tried reinstalling dx....that also didn't work...
So um...anyone else missing d3dx9_36.dll? It downloads and installs fine, but can't find that file. Reinstalled twice...preordered through impulse and everything happened automatically. If I use the Sins exe, it loads regular Sin 1.12.
What about a new logistics system geared more like GalCiv2, where there's no limit to the number of ships you can build, but the amount of ships that be in a single fleet are limited by research? And then limit the number of fleets allowed in a grav well at one time, by any one race. Also decided by research?
"Though the Vic II for the Empire has a problem with its abilities. It starts with missile barrage and the first lvl you get (once it's built) doesnt take effect. you dont get the ability you select, but you lose the point." Some of the Capship abilities need to be researched first.
In case you're not aware, here's a small bug/balance issue with the Munificents. It's ability to copy frigates. It was actually kinda funny. Two little munificents took on an entire alliance uber fleet of doom and won. Thier copies have the same stats and abilities, and full antimatter. In just a few seconds, the grav well was loaded with munificents. LoL. I love this mod. Even the bugs are fun to play with.
D/L it again. I had the same problem. Twice. Both times it didn't get the full rar. Wierd. But it works.
"Select some of his units (easiest way is to click on the planet sidebar when zoomed out. Then you'll see buttons to nudge him to attack/defend/move on your UI bars on the bottom left." Are you serious??? Was that in the beta?
Yeah I'm running the latest version, haven't tried the windowed mode yet though. I'll do that next. Thanks.
On larger maps, generally with two or more AI players, after about an hour or so the screen starts flashing whenever you move the mouse, nearly bringing the game to a halt, and corrupting any save games once it starts. I tried looking for any posts about a similar problem, but haven't been able to find one. Is this just me?
I don't know about Europe, but over here we also have prepaid credit cards that you can purchase just about anywhere. I would imagine you should have them over there too.
Maybe performance could be increased even more if the missle graphics had a limited life span?
On a slightly different note, while watching the replay I noticed that missles have an unlimited range to them. Whenever either party retreated and missles had fired at them, the missles continued to follow thier target until finally (took for just about ever) hitting. I should point out though that they did no damage at all. Just kinda weird is all...
I hadn't heard of it till you mentioned it...just finished looking into it. Sounds pretty cool, just like the Civ games, but in space. Just signed up for Galaxy 74. The tutorial didn't really go into much detail though... *Something to keep me busy till Sins is released. :)
what would be cool? released "events" much like in an MMO, only of course it would be individuals instead of groups (Lans maybe...)
Or maybe tournaments that would decide the next leg of the story...
