We're going to be announcing this later today but there has been progress on The gamer's bill of rights.
Read through that - some very, very informative stuff in there. I have to say, that your self-described "transperancy" is one of the things that I have liked most about Stardock. I appreciate a no BS approach to business. One point that i'd like to second: Improved documentation. I'm a documentation nut, what can I say.</p

Reply to Auto-queueing? in Strategy
Taking it one step further,
I'd like a repeat queue option, but the one step further might be one step too far. Often times, I will send ships in to battle to free up some unit cap. Also, if they just got their butts handed to them, I'm probably going to want to try a different mix of ships the next time.

See, I'm having an issue that is none of the above, but similar. (I found this thread by searching for my bug.) I've played three games in a row where this happened (2 betas, and then the release version last night.) I'll have one planet in a given game where I'll jump in system, and nothing I do will keep the ships there. If I leave them unattended, they start drifting to the next planet. I don't mean "edge of the gravity well reset" drift...I mean, full-on, down the jump lane tow
(I still refuse to credit most of them with better resolution than an HD monitor unless you can show me some hard numbers)
The hard numbers are out there. Check the stuff that people said above, or do a quick Google search on something like "HDTV vs Monitor." Resolution on monitors has been "HD" for a long time. As someone pointed out in an article I read awhile ago, Doom was in high definition, technically.
I just have some bad blood from back when

eSphinx:
Good question! Yes, you can do that! If all research is done you could basically scuttle all 16 research stations you probably have at that point and gain some valuable resources.
I was just thinking about this last night. I'm almost at the end of the tech tree and figured, "Why not just scuttle them and put some trade ports in instead?"
I did play the first mission in Galciv2 campaign, but right when I see my research is reset at the second map, I said "hehe, no way I'm playing this campaign".
That one hit me as well. It was like, "What, they moved to a different chunk of the universe and just forgot?"

Okay, I'm a little late to the party here, but let me through in my two credits: Initially, I was all for a campaign, and do kinda miss the fact that it's not there. But as i also mentioned in a post yesterday, no matter how much I find it lacking in this game, the fact remains that I never played through the GalCiv ones. I also barely touch the Civ ones. C&C and AoE, I play through once and that's it for the most part. The more I think about it, the less I think that would buy
campaign would be nice i guess. but i don't miss it one iota. galciv2, civ4 etc may have some small campaign type modes (i don't even remember) but i never tried em anway. i always go with the random world mode.
That's the funniest thing to me...I don't bother with the campaign in GalCiv. I stick to the sandbox and love it. The campaigns aren't that interesting to me...but this game? It screams "STORY!" to me, and I'm itching for one. I'll sandbox it ha
Actually, it was known for quite a while that download users (which is still CE) will get the PDFs and music in downloadable format. I'd say probably a week ahead of the release date Frogboy posted that bit of news.
That doesn't change anything about the response someone who contacts sales with a question gets. :)
All download orders will get downlodable versions of the CE goodies automatically at no extra cost. They should be up for download sometime today.
Kryo....you might want to have the sales folk make that a bit more clear. It was implied in their email to me that the only way to get the additional content was to buy the CD and pay for it and the (insane) shipping charges...basically, if you pre-ordered the ESD version, you're SOL. Wish I had read this before

It's the definition of "small" that concerns me. Oh well...early adopters should expect things like this.

Son of a... The one time I don't order a CD copy of something... I can't for the life of me remember why. The only thing that I can think of is that there wasn't a CD version available for pre-order at the time.

What is supposed to be in Beta 4? Is that supposed to be, more or less, the whole she-bang? Final testing all game features?

An option to increase/decrease to speed it takes to research techs would make everyone happy:) "Everybody" is a pretty bold statement.

You get the bounty by destroying the ships/structures of the faction with the bounty on them. If so, why do you not get the whole pot when you wipe them totally out? You'd think that would be worth the bounty.

Which only works currently, because the AI is so weak that it is no problem to wipe it out. If the AI would be better, that tweak wouldn't change a thing. Funny thing is, this has already caused me to develop a strategy: Two fleets, Fleet of Death and a fleet of colony ships. Move into a system, whoop the crap out of a planet, leave a colony ship behind and move on. When the system is cleared, select the whole colony group, switch to auto and bo

Not sure if this has come up or not, but it's a thought that I had while playing last night. I love the fact that the cap ships gain experience and unlock new abilities. It's a great idea that a ship and crew that have been to hell and back become pretty bad-ass. However, what I thought about was all the other ships. I had a fleet that included as few frigates and cruisers that lasted through most of the game, undefeated. It would be great if they could get some sort of "veteran"

Namely the techs that increases Crystal and Metal mining. For starters they are placed too high up in the tech stages, and secondly they are far too costly on crystals to warrent researching them. Not to threadjack, but this leads to something that I have been experiencing, and that's costs in general. The early game leaves me really hurting for crystal and buying a lot of it on the black market. However, once I burn through the tech tree - which we'v

That made me realize I wanted to ask why transiting ships can't counter attach while still moving to next jump point? Could get into a defensive formation and reduce hits while fighting back. If player doesn't react, then continues on, but at least is not a sitting target. For AI same thing, but not sure what would be the trigger to stop moving and destroy the threat first, then resume. That's basically what I was getting at.

lol tone of voice doesnt work in forums I'm still waiting for someone to come up with HTML for sarcasm, so that we can actually put tags on things...

Not only that, but the AI never took the planet, just razed it. Because of that I would have ample time to return from another solar system and wipe them out before they got to kill the planet. Haven't had that happen to one of my worlds, but I have had an AI ally enter a system I was attacking several times....never with a colony ship to take the planet. Also, I've noticed that if a fleet is just passing through a system, damnit, they're goi
