Placement of Weapons in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

Hey, I know this might be a stupid question but does it matter where you place weapons on a ship? And does which direction it is pointing matter? For example if I point a weapon to the front will it be able to shoot backwards? Or are they not able to shoot to the rear? Thanks! Da Newb Cavalry
