Your problem is probably related to a driver issue with your peripherals than vista itself. I'm running Vista business Edition and I play sins without a single crash so far. Make sure you download the latest drivers for vista for your different peripherals and this should really help the stability of the game.

I'm really enjoying the game right now. Here are things I'd like to see in upcoming patches: 1- AI taking the place of human players in multiplayer (also let the host decide the "level" of difficulty of replacement AI at the start of the game so it match closely the level of the players playing. 2- a Slider that adjust the freequency of the pirates. You added 3 minutes to their countdown in 1.02, but it would still be nice if we could adjust it ourself. 3- Add more way

I don't remember particualry this one, but if I remember correctly, those aren't considered artifact but will give you a boost either in metal, crystal or money raissing for that colony.
I think acceleration/deceleration would work a lot better and probably be simple(r) to implement. Basically when a ship gets in range, or maybe just about in range, the ship's engines will cut out and it'll "drift" into position, maybe giving it a slight random yaw and pitch so they arent in the exact direction they were facing, noticeable enough that you notice it, but subtle enough it doesnt really effect firing arcs that much. If you apply this across a fleet, the net effect would be t
There is massive irony when you wrote this, but I digress. We are not restricted to a 2D plane, your ignorance is acceptable since many people don't bother going through the key bindings or reading posts - sometimes I am guilty of that too.
I'll take this comment back then. I must have "miss" that key. I'll check it out myself in a few minute. In any cases, it's obviously not as "user friendly" as the other functions in the game.

I don't think people realize how big these ships are. In Return of the Jedi, the big ships were not moving much. It's the fighters that do the moving. Ever watch Babylon 5? A *frigate* in Sins is about the same size as a Hyperon class destroyer (1200m). If you look in the manual, the capital ships tend to have tens of thousands of crew on them. Think super star destroyer size. How much movement would you expect there?
Brad, in Starwars, Star

big fan of penny-arcade myself and i was happy to read that they had nice words for this game. there is also a huge thread about Sins on their forums.

Yeah, I speak more than one languages. so when you can write without spelling mistake in your second or third language, then you could lecture me on spelling...
Dude, that was one of the most clueless posts I've ever seen. How does a huge spaceship dodge incoming fire? with bursts of propulsion, duh You do realise how tiny any projectile would be in comparison to SPACE, right? and how that even if a ship uses the mildest of random propulsion, no aimed, non tracking fire will ever hit it
Hey folks. Just to set the stage, I've played RTS and turn-based strategy games since before the genre had a name. 15 years ago (maybe longer), I played Dune II until the wee hours in my barracks room (I was in the Army at the time). It was the first game to really grab my attention and not let go. Since then, I've gotten out of the military, gotten a real job, gotten a real life- In short, I'm much older. <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_2 src="http://images.stardock.com/smiles/Wink.gi

You're taking your idea right from Galactic civilization 2 right? Anyway, I like the idea myself. But since Stardock has been doing it in his game, I'm sure they are aware of it. This is the kind of thing you'll get in future expension...

I like the idea of a "interceptor" class ship that prevent other ship to jump away from the current zone (in our case the current gravity well). IT would require a big research investment though. I ran into the same problem in one of my games and splitting your fleet does help. Eventually, the enemy fleet was pin to a system and decided that jumping wasn't an option so I destoyed their last capital fleet and it was done for. When you win a game they could reward you with someth

These guys are actually very fun. I laughed very hard this morning when one of the host described a game with multiple other players online and he bribed the pirates to attack an ally and that ally sent him a message saying something like " If I ever discover you're the one who sent those pirates on me" and the host basically was back on his guards wondering "can... can... can he found yout?" That was funny.

Nice to see the quick response... espicially for the seige fregate and the pirates. Now we remember why we like your games and continue to support you.
Let's do an unscientific poll: Who here would like to see a game setup option of: A) Toggle Pirates off on (easy to understand) B) Slider setting Pirate strength (more flexible but more complicated) C) Keep it as it is.
how about D) slider for frequency of the pirates, no need to "modify" their strength. This should be easier to modify. But if I had to choose, it would be B, then A.
You can make a map with no pirates on them. Just go to the map designer make a new map with no space pirates. The pirates being in a given game is dependent on the map.
Brad, for some of us, at this point so early with the game, this is more of a burden than a fix. I can understand that Pirates are an integral part of the gameplay (even if I think they are not well implemented) but AT LEAST, you should introduce the option to modify the frequency of the

I don't think they would wait for an expension to introduce a campaign. If we're lucky, they will include it via patch before that.
It's difficult to stop playing. It's 6:02 in the morning here. The dirty Vasarians just overwhelmed my Kol and Akkan forward line with a large group of Skirantra Class Fleet carriers, now they're pouring into the inner worlds and ripping apart my infrastructure, they already sterilied my Homeworld. I thought we could find a way to make peace and prosperity for both races. Those filthy animals don't have a word for peace in their language, but they have over 40 for war. Now we, w
2. Winning by culture needs to be re-examined. For my first game against an easy AI I conquered every single planet/planetoid except his homeworld and he somehow managed to subvert my capitol and cause it to go to 0% loyalty using a single media center. My homeworld . (And yes, I know the proper counter is to build a media center but this was on an 8 planet map.
Ordering directly from stardock is unfortunately way too expensive given: 1) I want a real manual, not a .pdf so digital alone is no good, not to mention paying $5 more for a download than getting the box makes no sense 2) 39.95 in the store vs. $49.95 U.S. plus $20 shipping is ridiculous...a surcharge of $30 on a $40 game is simply not reasonable. The collectors extras are nice and all but I can live without a mysterious soundtrack which I am sure isn't worth $30. <

I'm about in the same situation as you. I have limited RTS skills which mostly date back to starcraft and warcraft 1 to 3. I do have Galatic civilization 2 and can win games at normal and the level after that (still need to try a harder level). Just bought the 2 GalCiv2 expensions so I need to spend more time there. anyway, There I was thinking I could do this game easy so I picked the first scenario too but made the mistake of choosing Normal. the game quickly became a race fo

What I'd like to get is a small Guide on the Tech tree and how each path provide what benefits in the end based on playstyle. I liked one of the guide made by someone from Stardock I believe for Galactic Civilization II Dark Avatar. It had nice information on how to get starting. Personally, I'm still clueless about which researches items are really worth it and which should be invested in or not base on situation. A nice guide with all Tech items, description and how

There is one, click on the "update" button on the mail screen of Sins game and you'll be sent to a page on their website to download a "bonus package". For people who bought and are downloading the game directly from Stardock Central, it comes included with the download. The real question would be what exactly is the content of the bonus package...
