Well, then you better get onto animating all those turrets. As it is now is okayish for a Beta, but a game coming out in 2008 can not, under any circumstances, not have animated turrets.
Forget it. Won't happen. Got discussed to death already.
You guys don't seem to realize that this game pretty much needs to be done by the beginning of December. There's not 94 days of development time left, there's less than 30.
Not wanting to sound like a pessimist, but do you really expect to be able to finish the game in the 30 days remaining? Though the game is stable (no crashes bugs found after the last hotfix) it's still missing some content and polish and the AI still is very bad. <img src="smiles/Hmm.gif" bo
that doesnt make sense, as it acts so different to beta 3 *confused*

AI: * Lots of new AI, mostly to handle special Vasari abilities, behaviors, research, tactics and strategies. * Fixed AI target selection problem regarding fighters/bombers/flak frigates when the auto-planet-defense AI is used. * Improved retreating logic. * Improved collision avoidance, especially around planets. * AI now
AI is a hell of alot better. There's still some gripes to work out, but I almost lost for once against a computer :o My ally (another computer) was able to help me out.
Not really. Since they haven't had the time to overhaul the AI for beta 4. So it can't be much better then the beta 3 AI. Or in other words, the AI is still as weak as before.
Known bug which a fix for is already out.
Does anyone else feel kinda let down by the Vasari?
Well, what I didn't like at all where the Vasari buildings. Besides the phase gate/planetary shield generator/weapon lock/phase jump lock they're totally identical to the Tech buildings in role.
You now find yourself at the fringe of the galaxy in a sector occupied by a pathetically primitive species - one obsessed with trade and lacking any central organization or military technology.[/quot
Thats the way a spaceship should look like. and really its making all the other TEC capships look bad ^^;
Yeah, it looks awesome. One more reason to just use Kols instead of those other ugly capital ships.
Gravity wells now have an inner and outer boundary that form a ring where both sub-light movement and phase jumps are valid.
This change is very nice. But now we need a graphical representation of this (besides the one we get when pressing the Alt-key). I would propose tho shade the outer circle of the grav well in a lighter blue then the inner circle, to distinguish those two easily. It's imho information that should be available all the time since it's crucial
Special thanks to the beta testers for flushing this one out, especially xeryx, lordkosc and Vanderburg.
I now feel recognized.
Game speed settings adjusted. Slow is the old normal, normal is the old fast, and fast is even faster.
Yay!
Resource asteroids are now infinite (steady intake stream that can be improved by research and refineries).
Yay! (Sin
one other question: what is the difference between "WeightedRandomPlanet", "RandomPlanet" , "RandomTruePlanet" and just leaving it blank?
Hint: Read the thread again. Or just open the file GalaxyScenerioDef.galaxyScenerioDef and see for yourself.
Pretty easy problem. Gas giants have the ability unstable gas: ability:0 "AbilityUnstableGas" ability:1 "" ability:2 "" ability:3 "" The icon for this is located in the upper left of the unit menu where normally the planet infrastructure building button is. So two icons at the same place makes an error. Just change a
is wanting to kill the devs a bad thing?
Yes, because that would prohibit them from finishing the game. Raiding Ironclad's HQ for the newest version though, is perfectly acceptable.
but the at the end there isn't any page break
Well, there should be one. You need a line break there, or you'll always get the error.
why is there a huge wrinkle in your formation? COMMAS MULTI, COMMAS!!! Europeans are wierd, they switch the use of period vs. commas in their number descriptions the European way 100.000.000,00 the RIGHT way 100,000,000.00
The European and thus the right way: 100'000'000.00 <b
argh, sorry, dont have a decent photo page anymore.
Use any picture editing program to convert it to .jpg first. (Even paint works, although it sucks badly at doing it.) Then upload it at [link="http://www.imageshack.us/"]http://www.imageshack.us/[/link].
now, if someone could show me how to get rid of that freaking "missing \n" error, I could be done fairly quickly, only needs some more tweaking around.
Do you have a line break a
Probably a line break. in the code? hmm, strange, it happened when I just modified some stats on a large map and renamed it afterwards. wouldnt see any specific candidate for that.
You need a line break at the end of almost every file in Sins. So it could be that you deleted one without realizing.
anyone tried making a star's grav well smaller than the size of the star?
It's curr
B) its expensive, but you can buy crystal on the black market.
[X] You didn't read Carbon016 post very well.
Sure, I can buy a bunch of crystal off the black market, but when you have three solar systems to defend, you need a lot of it, and so you end up clicking Diplomacy every thirty seconds to refill your crystal, run out of credits (2000 a pop!), then thirty seconds later refill it again.
<img src="smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 align="absm
what angles if any
There are no angles at all. As Therax has said. There is only left, right, front and back with each a half sphere firing arc. Sadly.
Yeah, but the old system was so incredible -- it was, quite frankly, ingenious. It was a far superior system to any similar controls that I have ever seen! (Even if it was confusing, don't delete it, just duplicate the control there. That way those of us who are "clued in" can still use the shortcut... and that way, the idea will be out there, so others can use it).
Have to support Ron. Don't remove the old way, just add a second one in the submenu.
Go to your \Sins of a Solar Empire\GameInfo folder. There you right click on the file Gameplay.constants. From the submenu you choose open with then choose program then you choose Editor. The third line of the file you've open reads: maxShipSlots 2000 change it to any number you want. Then you can save the file and close it. Start Sins and have fun.
Yeah, reinstalling did fix the problem, but I still have no clue how those files disappeared. Not a huge deal however.
Actually those files didn't disappear. They weren't there in the beginning. They game looks for stuff which is probably old and has been removed or changed some time ago.
Take a look at [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=443&aid=154920#1335680"]Therax' Kin of the Stars Mod[/link]. It's gauss cannons bypass shields and he uses those for some other ships, making them very good against capital ships. (Since base shield mitigation is also 40% in his mod, shields are even more powerful.)
I'd have to retest beta 3 to see whether glassing the planet is as common as it once was.
Yep, still pretty common with the current beta and patch. ------------ Btw. I really love what you did with the space mines. I've ripped your idea for my own personal mod and made all rockets in the game frigates. I also gave all capitals some point defense (rockets have like 0.1 HP and point defense does the same damage, so only good against them, not fighters) and
Nope, not unless we start selling beta testers' internal organs...
Where is eet when we need him?
Er, most hard sci-fi authors do bother with such basic issues.
Corrected.
Star Trek, Star Wars, B5, Andromeda, BattleStar Galactica, Alien Series, Star Gate, Halo-
Which are all not hard sci-fi. And even more important, they're movies (and a game). Movies are generally not something where sci-fi shines. And book adaption of movies are generally even worse. (Reality in Sci-Fi is expensive. Lack of gravitation, the limit of the speed
