aha. perfect. I understand your intention with the new mode now. Definitely a clean solution to the problem of the overly long list in the old mode. I like the ability to control which planets are displayed and to be able to use hot key groups to flip back and forth.

I agree with the OP about not needing / not being able to zoom-in on battles. I have the same gripe with GalCiv2 and Supreme Commander. These games have great graphics, but I typically end up playing a game of watching 2D icons. I play at 1680x1050. Additionally, I agree with the OP that the 2D icons come in too soon, and that there is a large jump in the one zoom level that differentiates 2D icons and 3d Models. The amount of zoom required to see the models is such that it is difficul

Interesting. I agree such a window would be nice. However, I feel that might be skewing the game mechanics off to the 4x side and away from the rts. Not sure if it would be too much.

I find the scout ships auto explore feature to not work the way I would like. Currently, the scout ships (collectively, if you have more than one) make a very shallow pass around the galaxy. ie only going 1-2 planets away from the star. This works fine if I want a general layout of the star system, or if the star system is small. Where I feel it needs work is when I want to know _every_ planet immediately near my starting position in a large star system. For instance, i was pl

I find the two views to be useful in different situations. I think a toggle between the two in the game interface would be nice. I also think, in general, more options would be useful. I would like to be able to select a few planets and have only those displayed. For instance, to agree with Daishzen, in the mid to late game, planets that are deep inside my boarders tend to be too far away from the front line to be producing many ships / to be attacked. I would like a way to be able to

I did not notice the difference between planets, I like the concept though, I will have to take a look. (did I miss some documentation on that subject? was it in the tutorial and I'm just dense?). This is definitely the kind of diversity I would like to see more of. Make it worth my while to siege a planet 5 jumps from my borders, instead of moving sequentially. but still, I would like to see some asteroids with 2 metal, 2 crystal sometimes, or ice planet

I personally would like a way to pan the viewport with a click+drag of the mouse. I play at 1680x1050 and edge scrolling is waay to much movement of the mouse, and I'm not a big fan of the arrow keys as I typically use my right hand to hit them, thus requiring me to take my hand off the mouse.

I would also like to see greater variety in galaxy structure and player starting position. I think it could be interesting if: - some planets could have more than a maximum of ~3-4 jump lanes. Making them hard to defend against multi-front attacks, but making them a good place to attack on multiple fronts. - asteroids / planets had a variable number of resources, making certain planets 'better' Currently every planet is the same (basically, neglecting planet type). I th
