Nice, sounds pretty good. A break from the Capitalism(s) is long overdue, so I'll be picking this one up when its released. Good post ;) I never would have seen this otherwise.
Its no good just grasping the latest technology and then thinking "hmm, what new flash-bang can I achieve with that (and look cool at the same time)". The thought process must be, "what can I use that for, to meet my target markets needs".
Well said Zydor. A lot of products (not just in the gaming industry) seem to be created to allow so the techs can really wow and marvel at the latest development. While I admire innovation, it has to be within reason, or it tu
All of them :P [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/304319"]9 vs 1, hard locked teams story[/link] To be fair that was a while ago now and in 1.2 before they changed the AI. I haven't tried since due to work, but it's sure to have been done since in 1.4 as several people seemed to be in the middle of their own 9vs1 game. Some surviving on unfair with TEC even, which is far more than I could handle personally. I'd love to see some of them post their storyboards.
Greets, I believe interruptable just means what it says - it can be interrupted. For example, firing Cleansing Brilliance that should last 8 seconds normally, but in turn getting hit by a hostile special that disables abilities stops the beam in its tracks. This leaves the weapon having to carry out a whole charge cycle before it can fire again. Poor Radiance :( As for channelling - I would safely assume its something that needs the firing ship to be intact to continue
Do the Advent simply not have refineries or am I blind?
That's right, no refineries for Advent :)
theres nothing else i can tell you the hard drive was never mentioned the message was talking about the disk
Yoadjla, Just to let you know I wasn't being pissy for the sake of it ;) Bear in mind 'disk' is used to discribe both a DVD/CD and hard drive (hard disk/hard disk drive/HDD) so it was quite hard to understand what you were trying to install to where, especially when you mentioned there was 0 free space. I also see that you call an 'install' a dow
Are you saying you added a new hard drive and it's showing 0 free space? If so, has the drive been formatted?

I think he's trying to update the game disk (cd). If that's the case, you can't update the game disk, you update your hard drive. The Sins of a Solar Empire CD doesn't have any space on it, plus you would need a cd burner to even touch the cd in the first place.
Exactly my thoughts x2 As soon as we figure out which disk you're ta
Greets Peter, Start small and work your way up :) Probably the best way to start. Small random map, versus one easy AI - should give you time to work things out as you go along. As you find things you don't understand, ask here or look them up. By the time you finish your first game you should be much more comfortable in the driving seat and ready to ramp up the difficulty, system size and number of AI. Just jump in really :) Cheers, Mopy
Ah man, still confused :P No worries - alright, there's a few possibilities but I still don't understand exactly what you mean. So more questions: 1) Which disk has 0 free space? 2) What is telling you that you have 0 free space?
Greets, Are you talking about your hard disk being full? It sounds like that's what you mean, but I'm not really sure what you mean by this:
i checked and it has 0 free GBs but i have nothing saved into the game zip nadda 0 everything is completely empty i havent even started a game but how do i download stuff if the disk is automatically full is there a way i can download more space onto the disk?
Can you elaborate a bit further please? Maybe w
Greets, Download [link="https://www.stardock.com/products/sdcentral/"]Stardock Central[/link], install it, log in, find sins in the list of games, and off you go ;) Cheers, Mopy
Both looked very promising, and even clunky UI's I can look past if the depth of gameplay is there.
IG2 was a lot easier and shorter, but looked much nicer. They were both a mix between sim city (building up your planets in sim city style view), a slow C&C (where you'd do battle on the surface in between the cities with your fleets ground forces and planetary defences) and the space battles were a bit like GalCiv. Research tree, no control over your forces, but you could
Imperium Galactica (the first one) was my fave. I still to this day haven't had an epic ridiculously long impossible campaign in any game since then. Shame it doesn't run properly on XP. I'm also one of those strange people who liked playing Pax :O
Greets, I found myself in a similar situation a while back (with 6 planets too) and I tried waiting it out and that failed. The only way I managed to get around it was to scout ahead for a place to fortify two choke points only, and then push hard towards them. If both ends of the wormholes are in the same system, consider mounting a large offensive keeping the opposition on the back foot leaving them no chance to attack. If your wormhole leads elsewhere, it might still be wor
Greets, If it works for the demo, you should be fine for the full game - however you will probably be limited to the smaller maps until you can upgrade. Lots of stuff/big stuff going on will slow you down though. Cheers, Mopy
Greets, This happens to me at 1680x1050, but only if pausing the game. Are you pausing too by chance? If so, shift clicking the top of the empire tree in blank space (just above the first listed planet for example) seems to fix it. Cheers, Mopy
Don't overlook the fact that the OP's MX is either AGP or PCI. There was never a PCi-e MX to my knowledge. You can't just randomly go out and buy a new card unless you have yourself at least a partially modern mobo ;) Step 1: Find your motherboard make and model number. Assuming you're using XP with those specs, so grab [link="http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html"]Everest Free[/link], and do just that. Step 2: [/co
Amazing story my friend, makes me want to make a post like this as well. BTW, i'm 49 hours into a 9 vs 1 unfair ai game, playing as advent aswell, been on defense for the past.....3 hours? any tips for breaking those massive ai fleets?I tried a fleet composed of 20 destras,10 iconus, 15 drone hosts, 30 illuminators, 10 disciples, 10 subjugators, all research is done too.
49 hours and surviving unfair AI :CONGRAT: Love to see a story about it when you're done. Heyas, There's at least one mod adding a new race so far, probably others that I'm not aware of yet. [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/177648"]WWW Link[/link]
Cleansing brilliance does indeed propogate with malice (at least it did in 1.02) For example, fire of malice to surround a cap ship and a load of frigates. Fire off brilliance at the capital ship, and the result is: Ships within the sphere/cone of brilliances damage will take brilliance damage Ships afflicted with mallice will take a % damage of brilliance (% depends on malice level) Ships within the sphere of brilliance and afflicted with malice will take brilliance da
I tried watching the replays. Invalid save file I'm running 1.03
Yep, 1.02 I'm afraid. Only just patched to 1.03 after making the post. :( Sowies.
Damn deliverance engines and their inability to do physical damage!!!!
Exactly what I was thinking after building the first ten or so. You read my mind.
It would be interesting to see how this would've turned out were you were Vasari.
Funny you should mention
Now, onto unfair!
After you ;)I think I better move onto real world work.
I agree - that was a ton of fun to read! Hate to make you go through all that pain again, but it would be fun to see you do this with other races as well! Great story!
I'd be interested to see if its possible without Mallice and Cleansing Brilliance combo's. Maybe in the summer sometime, although I'm sure it will have been done it by then.
Oh my
Very cool, I enjoyed following through your story of death. I might try the same sometime. Maybe with an ally just to make things easier/intersting.
:D Highly recommend it. Although the story of death turned out rather well. Won it in the end as per the MopyEndGame replay. Still would have been just as enjoyable otherwise. The first 15 hours were the best. Once the first galaxy was conquered it was just a matter of time. Glad to see one person read anyway :)<b
Greets, Ok fingers crossed this doesn't wreck the forum... So I decided it'd be fun to try a game against nine hard AI locked to the same team. No idea why. For fun? ;) Here's what happened: Opponents: 9 random locked to the same team @ hard setting Chosen race: Advent Resources: Normal Speed: Normal <span
Greets, You won't have much of a problem ;) Firstly, I only play offline too, and while there is no campaign (yet) all the varying options, teams, speeds, resources mixed with random maps and scenario style maps make the sandbox fun to play. Don't worry about it being a clickfest. It isn't if you don't want it to be. Not only are there speed options, with slow being sleepy speed for me (and I very much dislike clickfests) but you can pause if you really want to, issue orders an
