I have only stolen tech once as well. You don't need to be spending money to do it though. I was at advanced and had turned my espionage down to 0 already. Stealing tech through spying is just very rare because it is so easy to get to the highest levels. Personally, I think the frequency should but upped and the process of getting to advanced should be higher. Also, maybe it should depend on government type. Also, it's slightly off-topic, but as long as I'm saying it, there sho

I twenty-second that! Especially in the bigger galaxies. But I have often had problems where i have already selected another ship and am about to click to tell it to move somewhere when it whizzes me 6 sectors away, often to some ship that I need all the MP i can squeeze it for, and when the click happens, i send the ship somewhere i don't want it.

Which size galaxy (or other settings) is it that the AI works best on? I read it somewhere (I think it was large but I'm not sure) and I can't find it.

You have to have close relations in order to offer an alliance. Also, I could be off on this, but I think that the one offering has to have alliances. I'm not sure though; I've never been close with someone before I had it researched.

I and keep forgetting to say this. Most times, it is not a CTD, the screne goes blank, the second monitor gets no signal, and i have to turn the computer off manually. When it is a CTD, a window pops up telling me that the video driver isn't responding and that i should save my work (HA, i wish i could) and shut down. EDIT : Below is the window that pops up:

Seriously, it's not the sound card. My problem is not the sound driver crashing. My problem is the screen going black. My problem is with the video driver failing. My problem has nothing to do with sound. Sometimes I've had winamp in the background playing music that continues to play while my screen is black or blank. And please, nobody suggest that winamp in the background is the problem, because it does the same thing (it almost seems like it might do it quicker) without winamp.

I did try defragging, but it didn't make any difference. The page file is only using a fifth of the allotted space, that's not the problem. And as I said twice already, the sound driver is the latest.

Same thing happened again, but the debug is different, except that it too has "A* Path too long to calculate". 1. Gigantic 2. It usually happens on my turn at random times. In the case of this particular error, it happened when i hit done on a planet management screen. 3. I'm not sure if it would reproduce the error bbecause it happens so randomly, though inevitably. I will send the save game.

I've been having a problem since I upgraded to 1.1 where the game will spontaniously freeze. To solve this problem, I can sometimes ALT-Tab out and then click on GalCiv in the taskbar. This doesn't always work however; sometimes my comptuer will just freeze up completely. I can tell when it's frozen because I have a second monitor and it will say that it is not receiving a signal. Additionally, last time I played the game when ALT-Tabbed, a window had popped up saying that my display device

the fact that there is no research/manufacturing is because the first time you clic on turn the turn isn't really done (the date does not change) only the movement of ships gets refreshed as far as I know Really? I had actually suspected something like that but keep forgetting to look.

I've been seeing a similar problem. I've got influence over litterally 40% or so of a gigantic map. I'm doing over 70% of the research in the galaxy, with prolly 50% of the population. The best example of AI doing nothing is the Terrans. I first encountered them when the Drengin handed over 7 planets to them in the middle of my territory. I've since captured half of them culturally. They keep threatening me for being so close to their planets, but they only have the lightest of defenses an

Everytime I load up the game, the first time I hit the turn button, nothing gets made. you can actually look at the production graphs and see the weeks where i've loaded because the lines takes a dive.

Ironic epilogue to the demise of the Drengin in my game: they did it to keep the worlds out of my hands, but in doing so, they surrendered to a culturally weaker civilization, which is causing their planets to put out about half their former influence; the worlds are falling to my culture now. Take that Lord Kona!

So after I updated to 1.1 I excitedly started a new game. I start out in an area that is somewhat spare in planets with not too many higher quality ones, but after a little while I find a lot of planets worth going after. I also started out near the Drengin, as in our homeworlds were three or four sectors away on a gigantic map. I managed to not only get almost all of the good worlds in the area, but to completely surround the Drengin in the process. I started working on culturally convertin

That's the message I got when Windows started back up. I'll shorten the debug report since most of the debug messages aren't relevent and there are a ton of them. I'm not a playing a beta, I'm just playing 1.0X.2 and the research center tech is there, but the center itself is not. was that added in the last update to prepare for 1.1?

This may have already been brought up or something somewhere and i just missed it, but what's the deal with the neutral research center technology. i didn't research it first because it didn't look like it did anything, then i decided to give it a shot thinking that the tech tree might just be bugged. but no, nothing happened at all other than the tech perfected screen popping up telling me how powerful the research center is. is this not in yet? w

I tried another game and I'm doing much better, though between my close starting proximity to the Altarians and the Torians, I didn't do as well in the initial colony rush as I would have liked. So while I'm no longer frustrated with the change, I still don't understand what caused it.

I played a couple games before updating. The first was a disaster; I had no idea what I was doing. The last two before I updated when much better, though the game would crash after June 22 2227. This is fixed when I updated, but when I loaded one of the games up, the game had taken a turn. I had gone from 60-something approval to about 18 becuase my taxes were so high (not such a huge problem before because of several projects and bonuses). Also,
