I wrote a sarcastic reply in like manner...even threw in leetspeak... promptly lost 50 IQ points and forgot what was supposed to be funny about it.

Sweet! I can't wait! The carriers sound like the counter/balance to LRM spam to me. I'm frickin excited!!! As for the negative posts...get stuffed!!... especially the ones involving having an issue with how the patch is delivered... if your copy was legit there would be no problem, would there?
I would also like to see this supposed "blacklist". Even if this does exist somewhere, doesn't it stand to reason that it's mostly subjective to the opinion of whomever posted it? I wouldn't put much weight into one whose criteria includes such popular thoughts as "player x didn't follow my buildlist exactly and didn't do exactly as I told him to" personally...
I don't know who was involved, but for what seems to have been an implied 'venting' post from you... well you seem very articulate and intelligent, and it didn't come across as venting. Just up for discussion, and valid points at that. It sort of sounds like the host was the one team "stacking" actually, but again I don't know the details... so I would rather not assume anything.
Well, not hard to tell this player is frustrated. So... what was the problem exactly anyways? That's a detail that might have helped to have included in the post.
Here's a thought. What if they bowed to player pressure to release 1.1 before it was really ready as far as they are concerned? Wouldn't these posts appear again? Wouldn't players be annoyed? I think it would simply introduce more issues. I'd rather wait until the devs feel this is ready to go... have things where they are cool with it... than watch more frustrated posts pop up. I'm sure if we are patient, all will be good :)
Clicking the mouse wheel button also switches from galaxy to planet view instantly.
Same thread states that it will be back for 1.1
Don't let it stop you from getting into the game.... Complex = depth here. Maybe not so much so as GalCiv2 in terms of economics etc but there is definitely enough to keep you occupied in the real time environment.
Please give these guys a fair shot Ijustwantapatch... you'll see they're not like most companies out there.
Wow, I think I'm going to grab this...
Hey it's not to say I haven't lost awesome games just before my ultimate triumph ;) Just like Monk said, it's nothing personal really. Just a peek into some possible reasons why these things happen.
Monk has it right I believe... The save game files you are referring to have chunks of code that load, process and allocate that data to memory. For every older game file 'type' you make backwards compatible, you not only need an additional section to handle those routines, but often if there have been gameplay/data additions there will be missing or incorrect data that would at best cause strange inconsistencies (ei: this LRM has xxx hull.. why does this one have xxx? ad nauseum).<br
*sigh* Yeah I kind of figured.. and I know you're all right. I was just hoping there was something I'm missing.. I'm a old school power user, believe me I know how to deal with TSRs and keep my system clean running. Thanks anyway :)
I have a p4 3.06mhz system, but recently a gig ram stick died and now I'm stuck with only a half gig. Mind you it's on XP, but on larger MP maps I cause game lag and am occasionally even getting kicked for it. Most of the time I do the honourable thing and drop if it's ruining it for everyone... I have all setttings on lowest for graphics. Does turning off music help? The UI even? I could learn to play without it if I knew others would benefit. I'm going to ge
Aww oh no. I went to go do some tactic testing... was it removed because weapon arcs on ships are mostly/almost all front/sides/back and no up/down? Damn I wonder if I was exploiting the game instead of creating new tactics... :/ Please put it back, or maybe adjust code so that the ships roll so that their side banks point up/down or something. It makes sense in the 3d of space... but I suppose in space I wouldn't create a ship that left those arcs empty either... I'll live with what
Check your UI settings, I had this problem and it turned out my presets had changed. None of the display options (like show Infoboxs, phase lines etc) were turned on, and I was pretty sure the mode was stuck on myself until I checked there. I recommend turning all on except maybe trade ships.
I think the better answer would be the pre start settings like Phazon mentioned. Something akin to starting at tech level x with x many planets (actually I'd really like to see a min/max level option for games, some of us would like to see what the game is like without the full tech tree) and not actually have the core gameplay elements shortened for mp game sake. Heck, if anything I suspect the game engine is quite scalable and has been set to certain limits right now so as to be ac
I'm perfectly fine with doing random maps... those are my campaigns and the included maps (which there are a good handful of, more than is usual for the genre) are more than enough for me. I have to admit I read the background story and thought "hey this is pretty cool" but you know if they released more storyline in the expansion the same way they did for the initial release, I'd be more than happy with that too. Let them work on balance, content and fixes, I mean I'm not a MP
I think this is a balancing feature meant to give smaller empires a fighting chance against larger ones, and honestly I like it the way it is... Not saying more structures is bad, but I do honestly think it's a good thing overall. Much like the small percentages in research, it ensures a highly teched player isn't going to absolutely steamroller a lower teched player.
I'm interested...
I think saying TEC needs powering up is premature. Wait for the Marza long range attack ability to be fixed and other fixes before jumping the gun. Other posters already hit this perfectly, but TEC is meant to take losses and build replacements fast with their strong economy. Just comparing units and not their infrastructure or economy strengths is ignoring crucial components to the game I think.
The 'best' fleet is purely situational. I think it might be said, the best fleet is the one mindfully tailored to meet your foe via info gained from effective scouting and observation. Personally I almost always end up with all hull types except carriers, I think they all have a use whose value is increased beyond the sum of their individual units.
Not entirely true. If you want to avoid the firing arcs of some ship weapons, this is one way to do it.
