So, everybody is collecting awesome HP Items. But what will be, if every item (or better said armor) can be bought just ONE TIME?
How about increasing the cost if you buy again?
...a game that made perhaps a moderate profit or recovered it's development costs but not much else...
Considering the state of the economy, that in itself is an achievement. I too have the feeling that DG had much higher potential, but its initial problems plus SD's relative inexperience in managing the online community didn't help. But that doesn't mean DG didn't sell well.

Nor will it be around for as many years. Dude, you've got to aim for the top spot (if only in your dreams ;) )

Guys, you have to put this in perspective. DG has been a hot potato for SD from day 1. And largely because it's not SD's title, but GPG's . They did sink money in the title when they didn't have to (at least formally, the first time SD doesn't support a title will be a disaster for them). But they did sink money into DG and that is huge. Where SD failed by itself (and this is just my opinion) was trying to defend a flawed title. My impression was that there wer

I wanted to play SP first to get the hang of things, but between sparse docs, bugs, questionable

But generally, the DA was released to everyone.
It is selectable in MP, but not in SP, the problem many players have - it's just, their solutions don't work for me. I still haven't made it past SP and by the looks of it, I never will.
I'd be very surprised if Stardock had to cough up more cash to get what they should have gotten in the first place. There should be a contract somewhere that says so. Then again, maybe SD got screwed and didn't cover all the bases when signing. That's not how the business works. Stardock has a support and content plan for Demigod, which means that they are allocating a part of their budget to finance patches (to fix bugs etc.) and new content
The question is, will Stardock improve the single player experience in Demigod? 77% of us want to know.
What's so hard to understand? It took 7 months to add just one more demigod to the game; this title is on life-support. Largely because it's not Stardock's job to improve it, but GPG's. And while they might have took some time to fix DG already, now they definitely have their hands full working on SupCom2.

I'm one of the 23%. Barely. Played once online, won, but was like... meh. IMHO, there are serious hurdles to pass to play online. If you don't spend a lot of time to learn the ins and outs of the game, you're not going to have a better experience online than offline. And by then, I feel it all turns more into number crunching than casual fun. On top of it all, online comes automatically with inherent problems: bad connectivity, lag, much harder to go afk and the guarant

Eh, even quake3 had something called "reinforcement learning". I can't stop thinking that instead of crafting DG-specific AI, GPG would have been better off letting the AI learn on its own. You know, take advantage of all the online games and include results as updates for offline play. Not saying here DG is actually using "brain-dead scripts", cause I really don't know how the AI is implemented. Just saying it really didn't have to be such a problem.

11 Replies 1,736 Views

Well, whenever you an AI having to cheat on higher levels, you know it's bad. Many times it cannot even be called an AI, it's just a set of (brain-dead) scripts.

Not gonna happen. I've lost count of the times I, myself, asked for UI improvements and not a single comment from either SD or GPG as much as hinted at them considering such a proposal. GPG is working on allowing mods, which may lead to UI mods as well, but... I'll just stop here.

You should also be able too the health of allies, to know when they might appreciate a heal/shield/whatever. And you should also see the number of minotaurs/archers/healer for generals, to know when to summon more. On top of that, you should be able to enable/disable stuff that appears in the UI. However, new demigods (a whopping total of 2!, no less) have been in the making since the game was released and there's still no ETA for that. Since SD/G

Custom games are custom and Pantheon games should be all the same. But here's an idea for skirmish: let the user pick a criterion for joining a game. I suspect most people quit because they don't like a particular setting, so why not try to address that? Have criteria like: - must play/avoid DG X; - must play/avoid map X; - must play/avoid gametype X; - must play/avoid XvX game. And let the us
