YAY i have screen shots. this first one shows both the transparent planet and the back ground when the color skybox is unchecked but the deepspace skybox is still checked... "/> heres another one that shows the transparencey of planets <img src="<a href="http://phot

ok just updated my drivers to Driver Version: 8.20.0.0 and it didnt help any... except now im back to not being able to scrole on the side of the screen... wich is wierd because i didnt think the driver should have an effect on scroling. anyway, any thoughts?
i have a Mobility Radeon 9000. Driver Version 6.14.10.0252 The computer that im having these problems on is a Dell Latitude D600. after re-installing the game the side scroling is fixed and the colored skybox seems to be normal... unless i turn it off but leave the deep space skybox on. then its still slpotchy but different then befor. i really wish i could get a screen shot for you. all im supposed to do is push Prnt Scrn right? if so, where is the file meant to be placed. i cant find i
There are a few things I've noticed and i think they are bugs but its possible that they were intentional. unfortunatly i cant figure out how to make the Prnt Scrn work to take a screen shot. anyway 1) Planets are transparent. and very transperant at that. its a little anoying to see the stars and nebula in the background very apparent through my planets. this was there in the last patch as well. so its not new. I like the idea of seeing my ships on the other side of the planet (w
i really like the idea of being able to forge new jump routes. i know the devs have said the game board is going to be improved alot. I dont know what that means, but as it stands the board needs alot of improving and i REALLY like this idea. It would add deapth and a nice new needed level of stratagy.
what i would like to see in the tech tree is to make everything more expencive to force us to choose... but make it "pay as you go." This is an RTS! its real time so lets take advantage of that!
i understand that alot of you want 2D maps and i may preffer it in 2D once ive played 3D... however for the games sake and propper implementation of the 3D id really like to see the Devs make it an official opption in the game. Plus i think it would really be a selling point for alot of people if they saw "Opptional 3D spacial maps" on the back of the box. atleast i know it would be a selling point for me!
would it be possible to leave the planets in 2D around a star, but have astroids be slightly 3D? They should realistically be close to the plane of the galaxy but it would be nice to have a little variaty in hight from astroids.
I would mind the solar systems being more 3D again (they used to be) in relation to one another in the galaxy. It wouldn't really confuse things and it's really more for asthetics. i hope he meant "wouldnt mind" ... and if so YAY!!! having a 3D galaxy map would make me so so very happy. Infact i would tell ALL my friends to get the game... especially once the multi-player beta is out. (not that im not already tellin them <img src="http://images.stardo
I would just like to see some thing in the game that prevents one player from massing a large fleet and steem rolling through the entire map in one go. If they add some thing, be it either "crew" or "supplies", just some thing that forces you or the other player to return a fleet to the players own empire, after a certain amount of time fighting. ditto! the game becomes un-fun really quick once i have an empire substancially larger then any other player
lordkosc... do you work for stardock or ironclad? just wonderin because your comments seem very knowlegable but no SD or IC simbols appear by your name.... jw
auto distruct... ramming...
i absolutly loved Star Trek: Armada. I would love to see something similar implimented in this game. however i do see the draw backs of needing to micro manage. it shouldnt be to hard to set the space marines or anti-personel droids (so you dont have to loose crew) to automatic. however then every ship with its shields down would start loosing crew... and so would you if you were attacking with actual marines. i love the idea, but it would have to be thought out carfully.
i agree that id like to see 2D systems with 3D interconnections between stars but if the devs had that origanally then there must have been a reason for flattening it. i hope they can over come what they were worried about but if not... its not that big a deal to me, maybe a option would be nice. i think making it more 3D would make the game seem more cutting edge. aslo i like the idea of bi and tri star systems... multiple entrance points make me happy on the inside. though again maybe a be
Now, I know I'm just being petty and I am all for stealth in space for added gameplay, but heat, from the engines and everything else, makes ships hot and easy to see with RADAR. Sonar works underwater with sound waves, it could never work in space. Way to go physics student! Yes, im not dumb. I thought about the whole heat thing already. I was thinking about the Stealth Bomber when i wrote the post. the way that works is it cools the exaust as to not
actually... as a physics student, it seems to me that if stealth were to work anywere it would work best in space. yes it would be difficult. but like eetmor said the best kind of detector in space would be an active sonare type device, coupled with a pasive e/m detector. basically the way underwater sonar works with sound, but instead with light... it would be VERY hard to hide bigger ships or even fleets of smaller ships if they were close together, but if spread out and they were frigate s
When originally writing this post i thought about the logistics of how a multi-moon/planet-moon system would need to work. As I thought about it, I concluded that there was nothing really prohibitively difficult to work out. Yes they would have to work out some logistics, but it really comes down to weather or not the devs want to put the work into moons and gas giants. BUT, by the sounds of things just said... maybe they are... at the very least they have something very yummy planned <img sr
i like the idea of making the pirates smarter. i imagine that its somthing the devs are already working on. giving them more gorilla tactics is a good step. i read some were that there was eventually gonna be a "pirate base." i dont know how that is going to be implemented but as the pirates get more structure i imagine the pirate AI will get more sophisticated. i look forwerd to what the devs have planed with great anticipation.
ok point taken... i realize its not useless... but it sure does take up alot of space. it could easily be moved to allow for a little p-in-p monitor (kinda like a reverse minimap)
... well at the very least i think it would be nice to have a little (picture in picture) monitor say in the bottom left of the screen that had a zoomed in view of any fighting that may be occurring with in my empire. I stole this idea from Star Trek: Armada... but it really would enhance game play! and it shouldnt be to hard to implement, specially since the only thing there right is kinda useless or could be easily moved or resized.
It would be great if this game had Dual Monitor Support. I find i play most of the game zoomed out cause i like to see the big picture, but then i miss alot of whats happening on a small scale. A game like this that has such contrast in combining 4E and RTS, imo, should support two monitors. It is would add SOOO much to this game to experiance both RTS and 4E at the same time. I know there are only a limited amount of us out there that would take advantage of this. But im willing to bet tha
that is actually a decent idea for moons... id prefer to colonize both independently but if thats not possible, haveing lunar colonization attached to infrastructure upgrades would be acceptable to me. however im still not sure how that would work for gas giants... but if they are not going to be implemented, this idea for moons is a good alternative.
Oh YAY!!! im drulling just thinking about what you guys have in store...
who said anything about it orbiting... so far everything else doesnt orbit. if thats the standard, then why should the moons be the exception? anyway i just posted in the Gas Giants and Moons thread about the same convo i see happening in here... just an fyi
