well he said they would have some "other strategic impact" since one cant colonize the surface, the only other way to "own" such a planet would be to colonize their moons. Other wise maybe their are used as "gateways" to several other asteroids. kinda like the suns are, only for moons and asteroid fields or somthin... But what i do know is i CANT WAIT TILL THURSDAY!!!

yeah i wondered that too, i also wondered why my trader ships would never jump to other systems. it didnt seem to mater weather i had planets with trade posts or trading treaties with the inhabitance... after reading your question i was curious and went back and checked on my current game and i found i had already invaded a naboring system but handnt reseached long jumps yet... this is deffinitly a bug, however i havent looked through the forums enough to know weather its known by the
and just to make sure i wasnt just missing somthing and i actually was shut down i went back and read that thread... yes the idea of limiting the AI when there is no Command Cruiser and returning it to full when the CC is present was shut down, and i agree with that. that is not what i meant. i meant enhancing "focus fire" type abilities causing ship AIs to work together rather then separately, as one would logically expect a fleet to do in the presence of a "Command Cruiser". esspecially if said techs are connected to the command cruiser... wich is the ship that is supposed to be increasing fleet AI anyway...
i just want to place my two cents in the bucket and say i love the hoshiko. i think it is a great ship and while i dont disagree that maybe it could use a little work, there are much bigger things i think the devs should be focusing on. i say, its a great little ship. leave it alone unless your really having a slow day and need really need somthing to work on... thats my two cents. i love this game!
this leads to the last point I intend to make: phenomena that block jump lanes, so ships need to drop out, pass it via normal travel, then go to phase space again. would also be a nice tactic for a retreating fleet. jump away, drop out near a nebula and hide until reinforcements arrive then launch a two pronged attack. or something like it. in general I like the option of waging limited combat outside planetary zones, dido... makes me think of long a lon

so what if rather then limiting range, they made the command cruiser (or cap ship) increase the speed of a jump. so that frigates jump really slowly with out a bigger ship with bigger nav computers. this would fit in with the idea that to save room TEC skimped out on bulky computers and nav equipment in favor of armor and guns. Just for the record im not retracting my ideas of limiting rang. i still like that idea, i just realize that it would take some thinking through logistics and
im not playing with low quality textures however i can. i have 128 MB of video ram. so that shouldnt really be the problem. though i suspect not having directX9 is mostly to blame no mater my desk top runs the game fine... its a beast
I just want to start by saying i love the idea of the Command Cruiser. I want it to be a ship that demands intimidation... not because of its size or gun compliment, but because of its ability to create a truly awesome fleet combat machine. However right now its, well kinda lame. I'm sure the devs are already working on balancing it out and i know there have already been past threads similar to this, but i had an idea. is DirectX 9.0c going to be a requirement for this game? i cant find the min requirments on the site anywere (though i didnt look to terribly hard). or will it be a DirectX 9 for optimum settings, but blahblah for min? and if so what will those blahblahs be?
unfortunatly i have to show my sub-par geekyness and admit i dont know what pixel shader 2.0 is... where do i go to find this out?
