I think it doesnt matter if you have 0.01% culture, as long as your culture is the dominant one in that planet/asteroid/whatever. Mitigation is how much damage the shield blocks, or absorbs :)

It means that ALL your weapons do 3.75% more damage when they are in friendly culture. Advent has shield mitigation bonuses, and TEC has.. I dont know :D
It's a sad day when people don't know what HAL references anymore. Kids need to read more and watch more classics.
"Kids blahblah". Im so tired of people constantly being called "kids" because they lack a knowledge someone else possess.. Are you a "kid" because you dont know of something I find classic?

Reply to Superweapons in Strategy

I disagree. They are called superweapon for that reason. Thats what i liked about Supreme Commander, that the superweapons werent nerfed or wimpy in any way like in other games.. Most games that have nukes for instance, they cant even destroy a single medium sized building.. (C&C3, Starcraft, etc) Its pathetic! Nah, i think 18 tac points and the 8k credits, and the 8 labs required is payment enough. All the enemy has to do is swoop in and destroy it, or keep his fleet mobile / n

So the only way to change that distance is to mod each and every ship, which would also make onlineplay impossible due to the edited files? Thats crap :( You can change the max-particles value in the settings file, so why not this?
Those examples are great reasons why this kind of forced bonus is daft.If he's looking for neat, global bonuses, too bad. The factions are quite distinct (right down to playschool stuff like 'TEC heavy armour' and 'Advent heavy shields'). The game has balance issues as it is, trying to force in more simplistic global bonuses isn't going to help.
Noone is forcing you to play it ^_^

When you look at the sales of really hardcore games like Crysis and you think, "Wow, those games should have sold a lot more," Wow, christ taylor is an idiot :) Neither Crysis nor Supreme Commander "should have sold a lot more", because there were (and still are!) basic fundamental huge issues in those game. For instance 90% of all Crysis servers are empty due to many people having a server authentication problem, which still isnt fixed.. And as for Supreme Commander, more

What the topic says ^_^ Basically i want to increase the distance at which you can see the ships before they are replaced with icons, just by a small ammount. How? Ive been looking in the camera and settings files and tested everything, but nothing seems to work..

It just has to be done, until a new patch fixes the way mods are being "read". The game overwrites the entire original texture folder with the one in the mod folder when the mod is loaded, so if some textures are missing in the mod folder, you end up with no UI and other stuff.

I'd be fine with a combined mod with skybox, stars and planet textures. You mean like a Sins Enhanced (Visuals) mod, with everything merged? Will you add his planet textures soon? :D Cool, as long as the Sins Enhanced (gameplay stuff) mod is seperate :) Btw, when i try to download it i get an error msg. Guess it isnt uploaded or approved yet?
For Sins of a Solar Empire, its because of the story. So how many are working on your game, 50-60 ppl?Is it fully 3D like Sins and HW?The point being, is the cost.Well they could make is soo much larger with 17 races, but would you like to pay a 100$ for a game?
If it had 17 races? Yes i would. Also i'd like to bring Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic back in the light, that game has about 17 races :)
The pre-orders are not yet fully processed. They are currently being processed in the order in which they were received. The pre-orders are scheduled to be finished by 8PM EST (GMT-5:00). -Mike [Stardock support]
Thats awesome, so essentially i can expect my late pre-order to be processed almost last :P Oh well!

Okay, i know its a somewhat stupid and shallow/materialistic idea.. But i would really love it if the old pre-order countdown at the top was replaced with some sort of $$ counter (or units sold), showing in real time as ppls pre-orders and purchases get processed. lol! :D Something like, tick, tick, tick... One million dollars, five million, one BILLION.. Because frankly, i hope its growing to be a huge number. You all (IC and SD) deserve it. You deserve our cash for what you ar

You can mod the game by simply editing .galaxy files in notpad and just change a few numbers. The game engine itself isnt limited, so you could have 100 stars with 1000 planets if you wanted, but i doubt you would want to spend the rest of your life in a single game-session while getting square eyes :P
