I just grabbed this and gave it a run for about an hour...Started a new game on a meduim random map. Everything looked cool, nice sparkly new effects and stuff, but after a while they just seemed to stop. The ships just sat there taking damage, but I couldn't see any shots being fired... anyone else get this?
Could be that your games config is set to a low partical count? If you raise it in the config file i believe it allows for more particals to be on screen at onc

I would like to see minelaying ships, able to lay large minefields to help improve defense options, and a boost to planetary defenses, maybe just a range increase to the weapons would be adequate, but a bit of an improvement would be nice, i don't want them to be able to take down huge fleets but a bit more power to the defenses would be nice. Ensure pirate attacks only originate from the pirate base, instead of the sometimes randomly jumping in while their base is in trouble, the
What impact on legitimate users? It's a piracy check, if you're a legitimate user the game would run fine.
This is discussed previous page, but the gist is about legitimate people will believe the game is buggy and likely to crash as all the pirated versions will crash out and tell everyone else it crashes etc. Not realising it's nessecarily to do with the piracy protection. I mean if you were told that a game was really buggy and crashing from a mate who pirated

UK customs tax is completely random, some stuff you get import/customs duty, yet some stuff exactly the same wouldn't. So that does suck a bit :S, but maybe just poor luck.

Sorry shoulda used the quote, not really used to using forums yet. I was refering to the post about the eve ships and graphics.

I'm not certain, but one large reason the poly count on the ships aren't as massive as some other games, is for the fact the developers made it scaleable, as to allow lower end machines play the game, and play it well, which they've done a remarkable job of. But i believe the engine is capable of more polygons, but just bare in mind if we did have thousands of polygons, and then if we ended up having large ammounts of ships on the screen it could lag some of the best of pc's, limiting t

There's another post about this. You assign each homeplanet a player such as "newplayer 0" etc etc. And on the top bar with file etc etc, you go to edit, then players. and for every player you go down and change the teamindex to say 1 or 2 or which ever depending on the team, well, that's what i read to do, did it, and now my team have all spawned in the places they should have spawned at :).

Unfortuantely UK customs is as reliable as the weather in england. My copy came through customs without any customs duty or anything, however theres every chance it could, so unfortunately it is pot luck i think, so it's just matter of waiting and see i think. As i have ordered things from aboard i had to pay custom's on, yet plenty of others i haven't. Also mine took 2 weeks to come, and i ordered mine on preorder, so it's quite possible you could get yours next week. <br/

I think s/he means strongest fighters. But it's all matter of numbers as to how effective something is, alone hanger defenses won't last long against large numbers of LRM's, even repairs bays won't nessecarily extend the life of it massively. But yeh they can be useful to slow down a fleet of LRM's is nothing else, but i wouldn't expect them to be able to hold their own entirely against large ammounts of LRMs, well for long anyway.

I find a balance is needed alot of the time to be most effective, i like using cap ships, but i normally dont build lots, i like to keep balanced, as a more repair ships tend to keep my fleet alive longer than that extra cap ship, especially if you think how many heavy cruisers you could build for same supply. True long term cap ship's are good, but for a quick investment i find more frigates and cruisers more useful for a fleet over cap ships, especially if your vasari with dark armard

That's fair enough, i was jsut suggesting, i'm not very experianced with modding beyond playing around with numbers and stats, so i wasn't too sure what the engine is capable of. But i'm sure an outpost would be good either way, upgradeable or not, it would help give more tactical choices. And the mines sound good, that would be something i look forward to seeing, one thing i did enjoy in homeworld was laying mine fields to bottle neck the approaches people can take to a specif

Love ya ideas of this, especially the mines, would be interested how you planned to have them deploy and used? As well as that, with say that scout ship for the new race you could have it tag say an enemy ship and it gives you the ability to see what that ship sees for say next 15 minutes or until that scout ship is destroyed or something, as tec has the ability to deploy sensor drones, why not one that locks to a ship instead? I like the idea of the outposts, but maybe have t

At least they stock it in some american stores, i had to have it imported to get a hard copy of it :) That's nto to say anything against teh downlaod system tho btw, fantastic compared to steam in my opinion, jsut i like having a hard copy in times my nets down :)

Yeah definately, i pre-ordered about a week before realease, but i got the digital download and CE version, i'm not sure how the hard copy will be, but the download servers are pretty fast so you can still play while you wait anyway, i mean my net is slow as anything normally, and didn't take me long to download. And i've fallen in love with the game i must admit, normally games that take too long to get started, supreme commander for one, i get bored with, but with this i don't, despite the som

Yeah woolworths still around, though they're turning into more of argos over here now, they've started having a catelogue and basicaly are argos now lol.

Outside a woolworths shop in the UK Yes im aware nowhere in the UK stocks it, but i ordered the CE online, and you didn't specify a shop that: A. stocks it B. i bought it from them :) C. that it has to be a North American store either. So i went took a picture outside woolworths. Now surely i get brownie points for the effort of it either way? hehe :)

I may be alone in this, but the way i was thinking about it, was that you build one research station for military, and one for civilian research, yet when your queing your research it does one at a time, despite some may be civilian and some may be military. Now i understand it does help slow down the game a bit, but if you had military specific labs, i'm unsure as to why they would be hindered if you had civilian researching in progress, as they are being conducted at different labs?<b

They are effecient at what they do, but that's there specific role, i don't know if you've ever had them firing at any other type of ship, for example a cruiser, they're pretty pointless even firing a shot. So thats investing money into a ship to defend against something, thats the idea of combined arms fleets, i've seen them rip up a squadron of mine in no time, second my strikecraft is gone, they're now suddenly useless and when i do target them with my cap ships they go down in seco

The move button (one with the green arrow), if you right click it, it will cycle through wheather it waits for all ships to get ready to jump or jump as soon as possible, tho if you have a large fleet they sometimes don't get into position very quickly.
