Hi everyone. I'm having a little issue with my PC these days. I'm using Windows XP SP3 (in dual boot with Ubuntu 9.10) and from time to time it will just hang up. Yesterday I was playing a game and the sound began to stutter, then the music was lost, and then the PC restarted itself. Anyway, no matter how I restart the PC, it will go to the GRUB, and when I select Windows it will hang again at a black screen saying "Starting up..." Because it is frozen, I restart

It gives a boost to your culture in that planet, which will spread from it. Allegiance drop is a consequence of that. It also gives any ally ships there a damage or shield bonus, or both, I don't remember.

AI with peace treaty or cease fire still tries to attack your planets. Obviously it can't do anything, but it keeps its fleet there and sends you a hostile message.

Exactly, get respect by playing enough games. At first it will be tough, as nobody knows you. But as time passes, everybody will get to know your name and know how you play without having to rely on statistics. I thought about something like "Honor Points". When you finish a game, you can say which players behave correctly and award them an Honor Point. This way players can forge a reputation by playing nicely. I don't see a nice player turning into an ass for no reason, so a player w

Hi all! I'm a bit confused by the fact that the SoaSE - Diplomacy manual says that I can play on LAN with up to two computers using the same serial number. I've also heard that there is no activation limit for SoaSE, and that you can install it on all the PCs you like as long as they are yours. And that you can also install it on a friend's PC to play a LAN game and then uninstall it. I'd like to know which one is accurate, because as a matter of fact I've insta

Why don't erase all stats? Stats can be meaningless. You can be an excellent player yet your first ten games online were against an even better player so you end up with 10 losses and people thinking you are a bad player. I think players should have only one online name per account. If it can be changed, show the old one for a month or so, so the new name sticks in the community. Respect as a player should be earned by helping people, playing in a friendly way, and making the communit

Look, I have the same problem. I just let the game play all the intros and then when it gets to the menu the sound is fine. Why does this work? No idea (maybe loading times or something like that).

If it's really annoying for you to use Impulse for updating because your only software on it is Sins, then you can install update and uninstall (shouldn't take too long). I don't think there will be a new patch anytime soon.

I finally bought the game after the 10/7 discount (I considered it a sign :P) but now I have a couple of questions. As soon as my order was accepted both games began downloading, but as Entrenchment is smaller it finished earlier and installed itself. Will this be a problem? Should I uninstall it and re-install after SoaSE is installed? Also, how do I pick the installation folder? The game installed itself in the root of my hard drive. Thanks a lot!
Did you add the item to your cart in Impulse to see what price you'll be paying? I believe the game price is not constant across all regions, and Impulse automatically adjusts the price you pay according to where you are. When I tried to buy the game electronically in China, the cart price was around ¥120, which is only $15, half the price of the game in the U.S., and I don't think the game was on sale at the time. Granted, a bun

Where I live dollars are a bit expensive, and so games tend to be quite expensive to buy. Even though, I've decided I want this game. I've played it and it's quite awesome, and I really like the company policy on no DRM and the Gamer Bill of Rights and all that. To save a little cash I was thinking on buying the whole thing at once, the main game and the two expansions, but I didn't see any option for this in the Impulse store. I know Diplomacy won't be out for a few mo

I'm not that interested in having the physical thing so a download only option is ok for me. I'll look up what you said and post again in the General forums! Thanks a lot! (more info is still welcome :P)
Though it would sound better if you could configure each AI player individually, I don't know how it would be implemented without making the menu a little cluttered. Maybe submenus could work.
Actually they just need to add one button to the existing two, which is the handicap bonus button. The first one remains the same, and the second one changes to Nerfed or Full AI. And this goes for every AI player (of course Hum

I've read posts of people complaining about actual difficulty levels not beign what they expect. For example, Normal has nerfed AI and Hard has full AI with a resource bonus. What I've though is a new way to setup AI controlled oponents before starting the game. At the game setup screen, the player now would have three ways to configure the AI. - Nerfed (unexperienced players) or Full AI. - Handicap bonus (instead of a fixed and unknown amount of re
