currently combined fighter/bomber swarms are rather effective mid game, as you can almost completely wipe out an enemy with something that very few people have heavy defenses against. however the devs have announced multiple plans to ramp up anti-fighter defenses to keep such a spam strategy from being viable, suggestions include making the AA AoE, lightening fighter and bomber shields or making the AA super powerful and/or fast although there are concerns about what each strat
Schod
heh I want to see someone make a floodlike faction, lots of very cheap units with a carrier-biased frigate/capital ship basis. hrm... that sounds so amazing, if a bit unoriginal.
ok I've spent too much time staring at this thing, one more guess and I'm done for the night. Kortul Devastator (the vasari analogue to the kol, IIR its name correctly)
... I think I mean appended... in any case still think marza!
my guess is marza, to be upended if I see anything different. we are allowed to guess repeatedly within limits, right?
did* spam frigates!
do we send you a wisper craig? or guess wildly until we get a prize?
wait??? you have special access to info about the gamma? you a reporter or something? if thats the case then I'm wrong, and I apologize. but I think you might be refering to the lack of phase lanes between stars which is slightly different.
Eh, not quite accurate -- given the limitations of the technology and computer design waaaaaaay back when
ah, we have a history major! talking about the starcraft era are we :P ? oh so long ago. you win Ron, not all games could have used zoom. but there certainly isnt an excuse not to have it now.
yeah shouldnt be an issue, but I dont speek graphics card like ron does, so I dont know about that :P
 what I found funny was that we had some military victories going on at the other side of the solar system. I think Conan and (dutch?) were a little zealous to get rid of me. I wonder whether or not if avatar and redlab pushed if that might have changed the game somewhat :p obviously would have been a loss yet, but w/e. I was also able to repeatedly cap planets which had just been bombed. :HOT: it was more or less luck, but it bought me some time and was quite
heh. yeah, well keep in mind that its a series of diminishing returns, so the armor might only be 2 or 3 times normal at 100 armor.
*shrug* nobody could have won under those conditions, I'm hardly an exception. dont see how anyone else can judge on the situation either. and besides, I've got leverage on Conan for now :P
the only connection between both sides was the sun
 !!! thats great.
Health is more or less straightforward, it benefits based on a % basis, because capital ships have the largest numbers it benefits them the most, although its very strong for frigates as well. armor on the other hand prevents damage, but does so on a diminishing returns basis (an increase of 3->4 armor does less than 4->5) since each upgrade increases each ship's armor by a uniform amount, and because frigates inherently have less armor this upgrade is good for all, but specifically goo
or the fact that it was anything but quick and decisive ^ ^
well he did mumble, but I think most people would understand what he really meant.
you cant even do that, unless of course you want to build your moon and then set it into a circular move pattern.
minimaps were merely fast fixes for developers who werent smart enough to think of grand scale zoom. it simply wouldnt help at this point in time.
heh, unlikely!! what would you defend? the center of the grav well is (supposedly) where you come in and out from when going across the system. besides, it would make the game much less fun to reduce the ability to use these for sneak attacks :P
LoupGris... dont lie to him... there are new things in the final version known as wormholes, they allow nearly instantaneous travel across the universe to a parallel wormhole.
cant do it.
I'll believe it when I play it :P it takes a while to build up an armada like that in beta 4, and unless you're dramatically turtling it takes even longer (due to constant clashes). you would have had to ramp up production and income by miles for that to be possible. still, you havent answered as to whether or not thats a galaxy far overhead.
and yes, this is typical
no way, not unless you 1) drastically rebalanced the game 2) are turtle-stupid. no, no no no way thats a standard battle from anything remotely close to beta 4. :SURPRISED: next question: who's spamming cap ships? also:!!! is that a galaxy ABOVE this planet?
I think blair is confused... unless he's telling us that in fact the advent ARE unlimited. (:O) but I doubt it. in any case I disagree with the reporter: struggling against arbitrary and low caps (like in SC) is goofy, not good. definately not strategy oriented. Sins does a good job of tying the two together into your economy.
