Don't forget good old Sacrifice, one very origonal (IMHO) RTS game. I was kind of disappointed with Sins capital ships when I started playing the game due to the WC3 connection (not many other RTS games have heros like this, infact I can't think of any) When it said you could customize your capital ship I was expecting something where you could actually customize your capital ships O.o All level 10 battle ships are the same after all. Still I don't feel like I'm playing WC3 when I play this game

I don't think Annatar11 is correct. Uzi has made capital ships into normal ships with his mod. They don't have any of the special abilities or level gaining ability but they're still capital ships. I'd check his mod out and see what he did to make them like this. If he can make capital ships into derelitcs you can take over you should be able to make them into frigates you can produce from a frigate factory.
I ordered the AI to attack the enemies home planet and not only did he do it, he waited for my fleet to start attacking and joined perfectly (He left his front line planet in time that his fleet merged into mine, he had waited for about 10 minutes before that without moving so I'm guessing he was waiting for me but that might just be in my head) We then rolled over the enemy AI which did a fighting retreat all the way to his last planet. The enemy AI would fight the ally AI alone since his fleet
As far as fighters go you have to remeber that in space there is no fluid movement, so all that swooping around and what not is a waste of fuel. Instead of swooping to the left or right in an arch it would save fuel and time just to point your ship the other direction and start to fire your engines that way. (for example if you wanted to turn around instead of doing a 180 degree loop you could just spin 180% while your ship is still moving in the first direction and fire your engines the
There is another sound I've noticed. Its like a sparky sound you get when you click on one of the advent things that sounds just like the Human builder's torch when he's building something.
AS far as the shields go a magnetic shield could deflect incoming rockets (Or cause them to explode pending on what kind of detenation device or tracking system they've got) The ships in this game just have generic "shield" that stops everything and somehow loses power when its hit, which is what a lot of games use. We could flip the role of shields and armor, so that armor is reflective and is a defense against beam weapons while shields are magnetic and are used to deflect or stop ki
I was just wondering, I've been looking around the mods and I havn't seen anything that changes the scale of the game. Would it be possible to change the scale of ships so as to make the capital ships literally larger and the planets and stars literally larger? It seems a lot of people would like the capital ships to be more epic and that seems like an easy fix, just make'em bigger compared to frigates and cruisers? Just a thought, dunno if this is something we can mod yet. ( I say we but I mean
Or they could have just slowed down to a stop and hung there and wasted the frigate since it has no way to defend against attacks. The whole idea of moving continually is based on flight in atmospehere. There is no reason a fighter/bomber group couldn't slow down and waste a target when they know there is no threat of return fire. Even then slowing down and doing a lot juking from side to side and up and down while remaining locked a target would be just as good for dodging incoming flak fire as
Sins is missing something....easter eggs? Where are the easter eggs? Here's an easter egg for you then - desert planets can have the Spice Trade bonus
What about Sand Worms? I love Desert Planets even more now!
I also like the pirates, they can be really useful allies if you bribe them right and stay out of there way. However, the last game I played with them there got to be so many pirates at the base that it lagged my game down. I think there were something like 120 Kodiak look alikes and 100 cobalt look alikes ect so that there were well over 400 ships in the pirate base area O.o
I'd be interesting to see in an expansion or future patch a way to capture these planets that is non-violent. For example letting your culture wash over them until they decide to join you or bribing them into joining you. I'd also like to see the militia controlled planets be able to rebuild their ship yards and build up their strength over time so that there was a benefit to attacking them as soon as possible. Also it would be a cool map if 3 players started out behind a terran planet with a gi
I Would like formations as well as a facing option so that once you have the formation you can hold the button down to face the ships. Ship facing does matter in this game (As ships can't shoot out their rump) so it'd be nice to be able to face them prior to combat in mid combat so that your ships side weapons could come into play. Example would be the advent carrier with beam weapons on the side. Generally mine will line up with the enemy and broadside, it would be cool if you could have it tur
You make fleets, but the outcome is determined by stats alone and decided between turns. You're given the option to watch a battle, but you can't actually control anything or change the outcome
Which is just like Gal Civ 2 :P Looks like those universes are plauged with giant plasma clouds and nebulas
The last game I played with 2 AI I allied with one against the other. The other AI was getting trashed so I decided to join forces with him and see what happened. As I started to attack the stronger AI the weaker AI backed me up (without me pinging anything) And together we where able to defeat the much stronger fleets. An interesting moment was when 3 of my capital ships where able to be wasted by his main fleet and his entire fleet showed up to help me (And the message "Don't worry, we're
Looks more like a copy cat of Gal Civ 2 , a really boring looking one at that.
I for one wanna know what the heck it is that is chasing the Varasi and when we can play it!?!?!?! :P I know it will probably be an expansion pack and I can't wait to give them more of my money for it.
Huh? Rise of Nations was not a grand strategy game. It was one of those stupid play on a single map RTS games...a dime a dozen.
Sins is on a single map . . . I would say there is less to explore in Sins than there was in RoN. Further RoN offered a gobal map that let you choose where to attack next, letting you take over the entire planet in a semi turn based-semi real time way. In Sins you set your scouts to explore, in RoN, you set your scouts to explore,
I was just thinking about this actually.
one thing you could do, if u could figure out how to. would be to make it so ships inertia actually effects how they fight in a battle. i just dont find it believeable that battleship stops as fast as it does, or any other ship for that matter.Hood, you can do this by making each ship's deceleration values equal to its acceleration. Right now they accelerate at about 100 whatsits per second and decelerate at 500. Equalize it and it feels more natur
Come on, there must be more people out there that wanna say thanks! Krugler, Inociv? Don't be shy! :SURPRISED:
Maybe I could make the battleships and larger cruisers take more hits that way we could have good old fashioned broadsides type battle where the two ships just open up on each other and the first one to hit something vital wins? Of course support cruisers and capital ships would play very important roles. Again I can't Mod so I'm just throwing this out there incase a modder without any idea wants to take my idea and run with it. Also I think it'd be neat if the guns firing have bigger f
What are the chances of future Sins releases ganking this Mod and using it as offical? Would you care if they took your work and made it offical Uzi? Any dev out there able to comment if that is something you would consider doing? It seems like to me this would improve the game greatly without really changing it to much, just adding extra planets. Then on the flip side it isn't like the devs couldn't have added these planets if they really wanted to right? Maybe they decided to leave th
WTF this is nothing like Peggle, I was robbed!
"TWO PCs Behind a Router" sounds like a great name for a cyber thriller movie.
Sins of a Solar Empire killed JFK because he could not stand the awesomeness that which it contained in it's coding. Sins of a Solar Empire gave God the idea to create the Universe.
There is really nothing like home world as far as I know but home world. If you're looking for another home world game and you've played homeworld and homeworld 2 why not try Homeworld Cataclysm? I never did play Homeworld 2, is it any good? I might have to go out and try and find a copy of it in a bargin bin or something. I think the ships in SIN move beautifully. If you get a giant fleet and have it set to destroy a bunch of things you can watch it in cinema mode it looks cool. They m
