Or even concentrate fire on their flagship... once it starts getting threatened the AI usually runs if they can. Or do whatever it is that AI #2 does that causes AI #1 to suddenly turn around and retreat to its home planet when its on the verge of capturing something. Sending a colony frigate seems to work.

One thing that annoys me about the game is that realistically (well, not actually realistically), your ships should be able to go from any planet you can see to any planet you can see. Also, sometimes you can jump to a planet fairly far away from the planet you are on, but not to one close by. Finally, AI ships will phase jump from planet to planet, bypassing any defenses and sometimes refusing to attack the planet even if it is completely undefended. My suggestion, which seems to
It might be quicker to travel "upwards" in phase space and go around the gravity well than to go through it.
As in: Ensign: "Captain, forward shields are down to 25%!" Tactical: "Sir, we can't take another hit like that one." Captain: "Increase power to forward shields!"
Since then they have said "February timeframe." Things get delayed. It happens.
60 year olds playing a 3D real time epic-scale strategy game? If I can pull that off when I'm 60 I'll be awfully proud of myself. 19, btw. Amazing how this thread got completely sidetracked.
I have preordered the game (which makes me, whatever, 16 I think) and have not received this phantom charge...
