Take a gun for example. That's a menacing shape for us, even though it looks like a slightly squarish banana.
Good point! Perhaps, when the first gunpowder weapons came out, people laughed at them for looking like one-legged metal trousers... or something...
Bit ridiculous really. So if i throw anything on the ground now im going to hell? Or if i get rich thats me done, hell it is.
I agree that this "update" is ridiculous. But one has to realize that Christians don't believe that one goes to Hell if one commits a sin. But that's not this discussion, so let's keep it out, eh? So how does one cause poverty? By making money? Gimme a break. Is that financial gluttony? Gimme another break, not to mention a KitKat. What is
"OH NO" "What is it?" "They are flying at us from the Z axis at a strange angle, Sir!" "Quickly point the ship upwards so that their Z-axis approach is meaningless!" "Yes, Sir!"
As opposed to: "OH NO" "What is it?" "They are flying at us from the side, at a strange angle, Sir!" "Quickly point the ship to the side so that their flanking approach is meaningless!" "Yes, Sir!"
Space is 3-dimensional, but time is 1-dimensional. So when ships are phase jumping, they are going through space-time, which is only 2-dimensional. If they were going at sublight speed, they would take a lot longer to travel between planets, but they are able to warp space and time in order to create a wormhole of sorts (the blue cone around the ship) that transports the ship through space-time, ending at another planet in a matter of seconds. When the ships are travelling inside a planet
I am in a supcom community but i don't play online too often. To many pros, no real noobs(like me). To many rude assholes and much to many teamkillers(haha-funny!!). So mostly i used GPG to upload Mods for my friends
Good man! For some reason you remind me of the MST3K spirit... I just can't put my finger on why...
So here comes is SOTSE which has successfully merge the 4X and RTS play elements into a fantastic game. The game introduces three unique races with unique ships, research trees, and tactical abilities. The game's opening movie sets up a very engaging senario for a single player campaign for each of the playable races. Unfortunatley since there is no campaigns avaiable the single player experience is very limited to random sandbox maps. Once the single player has defeated the HARD AI ( onl
Hi guys, This is probably a stupid question, but wouldn't it be cool if there were an Astrid-like ship (from Ground Control) for the TEC? Now THAT was awesome. Stupid idea? Waste of time? I can live with that :P Thanks, Sib
Hello. Stop the nation bashing please. It's pointless. Oh, and don't thank the U.S. for Guantanamo, thank Bush and Cheney. That's why we have elections, to change direction. Anyway, go start your own anti versus pro U.S. thread and you can talk there. This whole forum/bulletin is about a game not this diversion.
Point taken, sir. Apologies.
Space is not a (complete) vacuum. You're going to run into dust, micrometeorites, etc, and if you happen to be going fast enough, even something very small is going to leave one hell of a mark. Weathered looking ships are definitely realistic.
That's why it seems the United Federation of Planets knew what they were doing when it came to deflectors :P
Only when the average Euro, of any age, can defend there own F***ing country can they then talk trash about "American Kids."
To be entirely honest, your use of "there" is incorrect. It should be "their". And what of NATO? And the expletive swear word shouldn't have a capital. In terms of language, it's almost as if what your quotee said was partially correct. But I agree that the U.S. is without a doubt THE stabilizing power in the world. And then people go a
What something looks like is not the only thing I refer to when I say its "intimidation" factor. It's also how it is used. Tell me Atomic Weaponry's strength lies in its devastation capabilities alone. Hmm it must be that, right? Since, you know, human kind has only really used it twice in 60 years? Your comments deny the entirety of the Cold War.
Just a comment - intimidation is indeed a factor with nuclear warfare, but there is a slight difference between that and mutua
Oh yes. All Americans are selfish, uneducated jackasses with an egotistic view of the world. There are plenty of nice Americans, as well as plenty of Americans whose eyes I want to gouge out. Same as any other nationality. Stating a absolutely ridiculous stereotype like that just shows your own lack of knowledge about Americans, as well as making yourself look like an unintelligent bigot thats speaking out of his ass.
I agree with you totally, despite being an Au
Hey listen; EBAus has this for release 16th April. I checked coz I'm waiting for it here. The thing is, given that IC and SD are Indie, we're lucky enough as it is to have Auran publishing it for us in retail. The Euros on here, however, have every right to complain - but not to IC or SD, but rather to the moron companies in Europe without the brains or the guts to support this game. Top reviews all over the web? Phenomenal sales? Nah, that's not good enough for them.
I was half serious for starters. But the ranting and raving coupled with poor spelling immediately conjures an image of some mole rat sitting in his parents' basement suckling off the tit of the internet for free games then complaining about them. At least for me.
Half-seriousness taken :P Otherwise: Granted, and I might have thought the same had he not re-posted with reply #9.
It really, really doesn't. RTS's, contrary to the Blizzard school of thought, are actually pretty lousy story telling devices.
I disagree. I'm a big fan of the C&C stories, for example, which is mainly why I play them. It seems others are too. Some don't like them, others do. So the point stands; if some want a campaign, give it to them. If they don't, then the addition of a campaign won't matter. I think if the devs get enough votes for a campaign then they'll put one in
he can't play online, you need a legit copy to do that. (where's the OH NO HE DIDN'T! smiley?)
What? So, the fact that he makes an admittedly badly worded post, and then corrects the error, which I personally think is decent enough, means he has a pirated copy. Where's the logic? EDIT: The same goes for whether or not he prefers single player.
Please note that the two most famous 4X games of all time, Civilisation and Master of Orion, didn't have capaigns and no-one thought anything of it. In a 4x game, every game is a campaign. It's long and involved, it has missions and plans and battles and so on. Write it up as a story as you go, if you like.
True enough, but have you seen a real time strategy without a campaign? I mean, a reasonably successful one? I think that since the developers seemed to regard thi
it depends ifs its trash talking among friends since they dont take it personally or anything.
Agreed.
Games are a competition, a contest, and there's no point playing them if you can't bask in your victories.
This is incorrect. I am perfectly capable of enjoying my victories, whatever they may be, without putting others down. That's why I continue to compete. If this is true for me, then it is surely true for others. If Xylum had won those matches, he would have wished his opponents a good game and have felt good about his win. That's not hippie political correctness. Tha
I wouldn't buy a game that had that sort of draconian copy protection on principle though so this is a moot point in my case.
I happen to agree with you - but perhaps some others might not. There is a difference between extreme bugginess (made out to be so by the pirates) and draconian copy protection, though you and I hate both.
sib my post above was for you, just so you know how long it takes for a level 1 cap ship that isnt microed at all and has no support (in a real game most will be level 3-4 by then and have support) to die to 20 LRM's.
Thank you, sir. I'll leave it to experience before I take ownership of any more BIG IDEAS :P
I haven't come over from the SupCom community (I don't very much like said community), but am a fan of SupCom FA.
Ya basically what I meant due to their higher gravitation. More mass is "attracted" to larger objects making a gas giant like a vacuum (cleaner). Because of this phenomena we should be thankful on Earth because Jupiter, Saturn and some of the massive outer planets tend to eat up rogue meteors that would be devestating to Earth.
This is a good example of why one should try to understand someone before ridiculing them. What he says does make a lot of sense.
