On the note of string theory and proofs; remember that there are few "proofs" in science - only strong evidence in support of theories. For example, the CERN experiments will attempt to find evidence for (or against - either is equally informative) the Standard Model of Physics. We have no true proof (or at least, very little) that the models we have are true; we must base our models merely on what evidence suggests. There's a reason they're called models :P As another example, the wa
increased CO2 levels also change the pH of the oceans. Otherwise, it becomes hubristic and pointless to assume we can change the environment "back" to what it "sh

http://needsofthemany.blogspot.com/2007/04/global-warming-melts-mars-polar-ice.html Hmm. Hmm. I suppose we should alter the pressure and direction of our factories' smoke stacks, since they all seem to be aimed directly at Mars's polar ice caps. Why, it can't be solar activity at all! That would be irrational. Everyone knows humans have a far bigger capacity to alter the environment than

Luckmann , great way to put it! I am satisfied :P I am only ashamed that I assume hedonism in statements such as "living every day as one's last". My apologies :P

I think this trend is great! I hate to disagree, but I have so little space at home that I always threw away the bigger boxes. Back before they were book-sized they were, indeed, impossible to manage, so I always had to find space for both the manual and the CD case. Then came the smaller book-sized ones. Though still cardboard boxes, they weren't as impractical to fit into a shelf as trophies. As the boxes (I'm not sure if they've all undergone this change) turned into DVD containers

kk then :P i'm sure the devs will take all this into account when developing, so our discussion is probably academic, though interesting. Ah no! I rather think I got it (Forsaken) confused with the WoW undead group. My bad. There goes the correlation :P

Good idea, although unfortunately "Forsaken" was also a name used in Armies of Exigo (though thankfully not a playable race) :P Magisterium sounds cool, but people might think it refers to a Catholic-Church-like authority. Sorry, I don't want to be pedantic about this :P Wildlings sounds awesome though!

Perhaps I didn't read it well enough, but the following similarity jumped out at me: Available races in Elemental: Men, the Fallen, and the Beasts. Available races in EA's Armies of Exigo: The Empire, the Fallen, and the Beast. Wait, what? Er... coincidence?

Great! In that case, I agree with you. I rather shamefully forgot to mention the minidumps in my last post, so my apologies for that as well :P I must agree with the patching problem as well, though to be honest I rather consider that more of an ongoing support thing... IC was quick with their first few patches, though the major 1.1 is indeed taking a while. They do seem to go on the forums a lot, though... and it's not as if they have a 70-man development team. IMHO they've d

Shush yourself. Does multiplayer automatically mean an out-of-the-box ability to host? I, for one, have never hosted an online game, because I have never had a need to. Am I abnormal in this respect? Is hosting the only problem? Great - we can debate whether it counts as fundamental failure. Is the entire multiplayer system badly designed? Then it's just that - a flaw in design, not a bug or an unintentional side effect (and which, I might add, is, as Monk said, being improved in 1.1)

Perhaps some people should actually read the reply comments to the OP. I believe that's two people in a row who didn't seem to realize that Blackspot took notice of The Monk's post (something that trolls in general gladly ignore) and responded more than appropriately. Faugh! :P
It is good of Stardock to bring up the idea. But the definition belongs in the consumers hands, not the producers. Having a producer write the "Gamers Bill of Rights" is putting the fox in charge of the Hen House. Monitoring can be checked with review sites to give consumers a quick number to know how consumer friendly this product is. Stardock would score high, but not perfect. EA would score very low.
I just reali
