yer but this new age stuff dosent have the same effect, i always believed a good old whip or cat & nine tails was the best solution to any problem (throw enough slaves at a problem and it solves itself). lol, good too see the devs have a good sense of humour.
Ridinghood
Well that would be the best system, only problem is this might sightley neglect (but nowhere near totally) the advantage of numbers...as if you have a ratio of 2:1 ships then all your 2nd ships will only do 50% damage (provided you can get them all shooting).
Rden mate, i find drink helps. That said, i really hope the game comes out before my easter holidays (so i can play it over easter instead of revise hehe).
Well you could have darjeeling tea, which is technically tea, but lets face it...its more like hot water and milk in a cup.
Eh, when your at uni you tend not to have much money. But then im starting to see a pattern between how much i drink and how little money i have spare.
Dont worry, my economic empire ran on slave labour (based on intelligence so as not to discriminate) will wipe you out soon enough Farquhar.
lol, i love the discussion on theoritical physics and shield tech on a public forum. Projeciles wise, it all depends upon several variables. If were talking about a small more arrow shaped projectile with the idea of hitting the target with the highest amount of energy possible at one small point (ie kenetic tank round type thing) then a deflection of the round so that it dosent hit the target point on may have huge effect on total damage delt. The only problem with this is if a project
100 planets, sexy.
so we should just pick some arbitary number then? in that case i pick 23
*points out the obvious fact that a ship bording action in FPS mode would take like 10 mins at least, so thats 10 mins where you cant control your empire*
knowing my luck id get the backward wasteland, though even then id still be over the moon. Alcari u lucky git!
Actually, devs no chance you can name some of the chars, planets etc after some of us forum whores? would be cool to see some of mentioned ingame, even if only we know the reference.
I would also like to see an effective economic model used for this game, whereby you could actually effect the game in a large way by using effective economic managment. Considering were talking about a galatic civilisation and not an army in a sector (or 'map') like other RTS games then to be honest i would rather expect it to have more than the usual RTS economic stuff. One small example of this is the bounty system.
Lhars may talk again when he can get an idea across in less than 300 words... nah love you really
eh, i only ever used my 2nd monitor for admin stuff during a game (usually for FPS games though), other than that i never found a good reason to use duel monitors.
now that would be cool, causing damage to v ships by just flying into an astroid field...
Well to be honest, he can have all the screens going at once he can get, its not like he can concertrate on 3 battles at once anyway, even if he can see them all.
Aye, i like the look of the TEC, espically with this newer look. The whole normal human fleet thing appeals to me.
FEAR THE MIGHTY BATTLETAXI! Perhaps a special weapon where a load of battletaxis get near a ship, get it in a tractor beam and throw it into a planet/large astriod who leaked the great US's army plans... (( _> )) if the US army tried this they would probably end up getting a British ship caught by mistake... Back onto Sins, are astriods going to actuall
Please for the love of god, devs if you havent alerdy please listen to Umbra Evito's post! I cant stand it when the oppoent knows for no good reason where everything is. Though if you dont make this mistake then please also make sure they are good enough to scout/gather info instead of acting upon tiny bits of info. Oh the point of tech, i would like a fairley diverse tech base with some form of limitation, but dont take this too far.
Perhaps we should have a sticky listing all the random things we do know about the game...
Oh i just love it! also please do keep space this pretty! Life is soo much better with some colour! What i would love to see is an area like in the film Titan AE (the bit with the space storm/cloud and space angle thingys), that was a beautiful sight. Also on that first SS, is it just me or do those round thingys look like some sort of gate?
What do you think the AI is for?! For me its there to manage my empire so i can sit there and watch the turrets shoot at stuff (no really, i spent so much time just watching space battles in HW/HW2). Well really, turrets not moving may not be much of a problem, its all dependent upon ship design. If the ships are designed to look right & fire in a way that dosent require a turret then who cares (say the Iron cannon ships from HW), for some of the larger ships though i would like to see the o
FEAR THE MIGHTY BATTLETAXI! Perhaps a special weapon where a load of battletaxis get near a ship, get it in a tractor beam and throw it into a planet/large astriod Back to the realms of sanity (dont worry only for a few mins my loyal fans), i think Lharrs system might be a tad too much micro (if i understood it right, only just woken up from naptime), perhaps having my system exept maybe a s
Well to be honest id be happy with a more simplistic (the average RTS) virsion of diplo. As long as i can give/sell/lease ships to other players im happy. What would also be good is if the AI (both enemy and your own) is good enough to act differentley according to what type of agreement is made, for instance with an NAP your ships may not rush to help your partner, whereas with an alliance they would (if this is needed depends on serveral factors of cource). oh and i hope you can e
