I've actually collected some Babylon 5 ship models. Somebody should also see about getting those Homeworld 2 models for Battlestar Galactica and Stargate. As for the Homeworld 2 Star Wars models, hopefully EvileJedi will give us permission to use his...or even better, will be involved with SoaSE modding personally.

This is kind of amusing. Most of you of course remember our dear Pink Pony brethren. Well, I checked out their website. Seems like they are a dead clan. It looks like their 'Chaos before Order' clan concept isn't working out for them very well. A pity really. It would have been satisfying to crush them in clan versus clan battles.

When considering retreating or not, the AI shouldn't care so much about % loses, as much as its strength rating versus that of the enemy fleet. What the AI needs to learn is that often times it is better to stand and do some damage, rather then try to run, lose all its ships and do absolutely no damage at all. Concentrating its forces wihin gravity wells will go a long ways to increasing the combat capability of the AI.

Sorry, I can't seem to recall any ramming ships in homeworld 2. I am not against the ideas of ramming and boarding, as long as it can be done in a balanced way. However, most of the 'suggestions' given are not at all balanced. They generally go something like "wouldn't it be cool if I could take my almost dead capital ship and ram it into my opponents full health capital ship, and both ships blow up". Then the lame arguements start over realism. At this point, one

It is funny how often this topic comes up. The best ones are when guys suggest 'awesome' ideas like having a cheap boarding frigate in the game that will automatically take over any enemy capital ships that get near them. Or better yet, having ramming frigates that are cheap but will automatically take out ANYTHING they ram. It is like some people have absolutely no concept of play balance. Here, let me suggest a special frigate of my own. How about a frigate

Hey guys, here are a few suggestions and questions about beta 4. Suggestion #1. Multiplayer game setup options should include the ability to limit how many alliances players can form during the game. That would lead to more dynamic games than the 4 guys ally against 1 = all 4 guys win the game. Players would be forced to be far more choosy and sneaky about alliances. Suggestion #2. Pathfinding still needs some work. Ships should calculate paths that don't involve them runn

Cool work Gauntlet. Now for my Gameplay Feedback. 1. I would like new colonies to cost more in $ until they are upgraded to self supporting colonies. This would make expansion more strategic and less 'go for broke' (yes, pun intended). 2. I would like mines to take 3 times as long to build. This would make raiding mines a more more effective strategy WITHOUT making mines more vulnerable. Both of these ideas are to help once again make economic warfare a vi

I am pretty divided on this subject. I can understand why some guys might like finite resources better. 1. It is more 'realistic'. 2. Attacking Refineries can have a greater impact on an opponents economy than is presently possible. This makes merchant raiding more effective. However, I can also see why the devs are doing the infinte resource model. 1. Micromanaging is reduced a bit..something I can cheer about on big maps when I am fighting multi

So maybe have a timer for how long it takes to rebuild a mine once it is destroyed? Personally, I kinda like the balance now. It would be a very different game if a few ships could easily wipe out an opponents economy and win the game. Still, a small fleet can wipe out a few mines, a load of trader ships or even a planet before an opponent can sometimes react. This can add up to tilt the balance in the players favor. So, raiding already seems to be a big enough par

Hey Sherbert. Yeah, I found out there were no spaces allowed when I changed my nickname to 'EmperorParadoxnt'. I couldn't do 'Emperor Paradoxnt' with a space. Captain Sherbert sounds fine. However, no one is saying you can't continue to use your Grand Admiral 'prefix' in this forum. Keep in mind that we will be having a ranking challenge soon for the Admiralty ranks. If you are interested in participating, we can try to arrange them for when you have access to a g

Destroyed the thread we held so dear? Not sure what you mean by that. You mean the Galactic Empire thread? It is right here, not destroyed at all. If you meant the Pink Pony thread, then it is right next door, alive and well.

Thx Shadowhal, I'll do my best not to let such high spirited endorsements go to my head. As for the Pink Space Ponies, we are not a part of them (or vise versa). They have their own clan concept and their own core membership. When we originally formed the Galactic Empire, many beta testers jumped on board and turned the Clan idea into a joke ( ). We simply went un
