How could someone vote terrible? Anyway I voted excellent really love the changes so far and you guys are definitly moving in the right direction.

I voted excellent mainly for two reasons, this is still a beta and as far as I'm concerned the game even at this stage is alot of fun. I know alot of people get their panties in a knot very easily on these forums about balance but I don't necessarily believe that perfect balance means that the game will be more fun. The reason is in a 4x strategy game you get to decide how you want to play. That being said there is still alot of work to be done but that is why we are sti
there is more info and screens on impulse under featured-coming soon
If you want to create terrain and choke points in this game you can use the map editor and create zones on the map by placing asteroid fields in rows. This might be a little more work but I think you can create the desiered effect.
1.99rc isn't showing up for me on impulse either?
I have show pre-release versions checked on impulse and I've checked both usa-1 usa-2 servers but 2.0 beta isn't showing up? What am I doing wrong?
I don't think the korath should be able to spore a world that is already toxic. Its kind of like saying I'm going to kill all the fish in the ocean by drowning them.Presumably if a population is already living and thriving on a toxic world shooting more toxins at them would have little effect.this would also lessen the advantage gained by this tech which I think is needed. As it stands right now if I play the korath i have no need to research invasion techs if I have spore ships, this would chan
Despite everyones crying and complaining about the invasion screen I don't think stardock has any plans to change it(although they probably will do something different for gal civ 3).I do agree it could have been alot better but I do think it is an improvement visually from the last one, I don't find exploding lunch boxes too fun to look at.Now I know something like this will bug some people more than others but I think the developers wanted to stear clear of overly long complex ground invasions
Hey I just wanted to give a thanks to commandergizmo for pointing me in the right direction for my computer problem. It was infact a heat problem with my cpu. I openned it up an noticed about a 1mm layer of dust covering the fan, I cleaned it out with some compressed air and that brought the cpu temp. down from 87 degees celsius to 48-50 degrees. now its running silky smooth. thanks again and I hope this earns you a karma point.
One more thing when I press ctrl f to get the framerates it says (shader) in brackets Is that a message of some kind?
I slid the tactical slider 100% and I'm getting the same framerates then to 0% and I get the same results. I'll keep trying other settings and try commanderGizmos suggestions or if you have any other ideas I'd like to hear them. thanx.
I've started another game of toa but before I did I wiped my drive re-installed window xp re- installed gal civ and all it's expansions installed the latest video drivers and audio drivers just to be sure something in my system wasn't bogging this game down. my game settings are abundant all on a medium map with 5 opponents on painfull. the colonization phase is for the most part over and my first war has broken out with the drengin,in I think it is the third game year. While
I think some people are a little disapointed with the ground invasion screen.Personally I like the new screen but the blinking flags don't do much for me.I think it would be more fun to watch animated icons of tanks, ships, planes or other military vehicles rather than flags. An example of this would be the game Defcon [link="http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/802997/defcon/images/defcon-20061020045423114.html"]WWW Link[/link] This approach would also maintain the feeling of watching an inva
I think the new screen is a big improvement overall but instead of flags in the bottom portion of the screen I would have rather seen icons representing tanks or ships shooting at each other like in the game defcon. I think that would have been fun to watch and not too taxing on your system. ie.http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/802997/defcon/images/defcon-20061020045418098.html
The framerate is lower zoomed out than in? That doesn't really make much sense thats my feeling exactly I don't really understand why this is happening the fps sometimes drop below 2 when zoomed out all the way. Before I upgraded my grafix card I had to play most games zoomd out all the way to get decent framerates when I was playing da, now I have to zoom in while playing ta with a better grafix card to get better frame rates? Like I said I'm not too technically inclined o
I'll look to update my sound drivers,I'm not sure if that'll do anything though. I also turned everything off in the background so I don't think anything in the bacground is affecting the fps. Also when I'm zoomed out all the way I thought the fps should improve not get worse? I really don't know what could be causing this but if I don't get any suggestiions from anyone I might have to wipe my drive and re-install evtything cleanand hope for the best.
I have some technical questions about frame rates in toa and my computer. 1. they seem to run from 2 fps zoomed out all the way to aprox. 25-30fps zoomed in all the way 2. when I press ctrl f to get my frame rate reading it reads(shader) in brackets, what does shader mean??? I'm playing on a med. map all abundant with 4 opponents my screen resolution is 1280x960 and my anti alias is set at 4x. I know my computer is getting old but is there any thing I can do t
Awsome game by the way but these are some things I would like to see 1. the least interesting part of the game to me is the end game there is always a certain point of the game when a win is a foregone conclusion so one idea to add some difficulty to the end game would be to give your civ a diplo penalty when it gets too poweful encouraging smaller civs to band together and possibly prevent you from an easy end game win. 2. maybe give planets a morale penalty when they are too far from
Congrats guys! This game is so good I'd have given it six stars out of five.Keep up the good work and don't let all the good reviews get to your heads.
I had this event happen to me and I attacked them right away beacause none of their planets were defended. Not only did I get some juicy planets but I also stole some nice techs from the resulting invasions. This obviously dosen't work though if you are trying to win a game peacefully, but if you are willing and able to change your strategy you can benefit from something like this happening in the game but if you don't like that style of play just turn off the mega events as suggested before.
· New invasion screen. The planetary invasion screen in GalCiv II looked like something out of an Apple 2 game. That’s partially because it was inspired by an old Apple 2 game. Regardless, we’ve replaced it with something that brings the graphics quality from the 1980’s into the 1990’s. Do you guys know its 2008?
Why didn't you guys include a pic of the new invasion screen as one of the new features? Imo it's a big improvement over the last one. I guess ya ran out of space.
I think there was a suggestion to give the dominant civ a diplo penalty making it more likley the smaller civs will band together and fight the leading civ, this I think would make the end game more interesting because clean up would become more difficult. I also think there should be an added diplo hit for completly destroying another civ,(this usually happens with minor civs since major ones will defect to another civ before being destroyed), this would make the player think twice about being
here is an article on ign about the problems with pc gaming. http://pc.ign.com/articles/858/858259p1.html
Are we supposed to be getting an animated battle on the video screen on this build or is that comming on a later build? Right now mine is just black.
