It's really a moot point, and not worth making the actual game play worse over.
I don't share your idea of "worse", though you do make a decently coherent point. I won't lose any sleep if it doesn't get changed - I don't think anyone expects this whole thread to be full of perfect ideas. I'm not the first one to suggest this particular one, though, and probably won't be the last.
i hope they don't do this. already in longer games, by the end every player has nearly everything researched. the last thing we need is to double research speed and remove any tough decisions to be made on what paths are most worth researching immediately.
If not both at full speed, then maybe be able to start the second one at a heavy penalty until the other one finishes....something besides completely blocking, at least if the two separate lab types are going
1) Something I noticed mentioned in another thread - the AI seems to have a habit of sending in a giant fleet of planet bombing ships, wiping out the planet, and...leaving. I've only seen them actually colonize the planet afterwards once, and it still took them about half an hour. They also completely ignore my structures in orbit, unless they brought some other frigates along - and even then all they seem to hit is missile platforms and maybe frigate/capital ship factories. 2) Targetin
As the title says, I have a bug that seems to have come up with the camera strafing on one of my games - depending on which way the camera is facing, I can scroll with (both mouse and keyboard) either down and right or up and left, but not all four directions at the same time. Every saved game in that group seems to be affected, even one I saved yesterday...Others from previous games seem to work fine though. Mouse and all my keyboard functions seem to be working perfectly fine outside the game.
Well, some of these things were already mentioned earlier in the thread, but anyways: 1) Have a "No Pirates" option for all the random map sizes, not just the smaller ones. 2) Have the ability to somehow indicate to the AI that they shouldn't even bother trying to give you missions....Maybe a one-time cost that you could spend, call it the expense of sending a courier to all their homeworlds or something. Maybe i'm just weird in wanting to play this way, but the constant stream
Something is almost certainly wrong with your connection - I downloaded my copy last night at over 400kb/sec.
There's always that, yeah...was just hoping to figure something out with the trackball, as it's much more comfortable to me than a regular mouse.
Yeah, I had tried that - it worked, but it seemed very abrupt/jerky and not at all smooth. Reading some other posts on this subject, I see that there's an option that makes the zooming follow the cursor or somesuch, maybe that had something to do with it....I'll try messing around tonight making sure it's turned off and hopefully it'll smooth things out a bit. Thanks!
Hi, As the title says, I was wondering if there is a way to allow smooth zooming by holding both mouse buttons and moving the mouse if you don't have a scroll wheel, much as there is in (for example) Homeworld. Not that I wouldn't like an excuse to buy a new trackball with a scroll wheel, but having a choice would be nice :) The game itself looks great so far, looking forward to spending some quality time with it this weekend :)
