If you have version 1.03 installed and the map was made using GalaxyForge, you'll have to edit the map file first (in Notepad) and change the line that says "version=0" to "version=1".

Stupid question: What's wrong with them, exactly?
I have a laptop with a 950 and the game is totally playable at 1280x800 with everything on low. During huge battles with 100+ ships, I have to zoom out a bit to icon view so that the ships don't render, but other than that it's pretty much flawless. With the default settings (most options on high), the game still runs very well until you get to big battles. I just personally chose gameplay smoothness over visual prettiness so I kept everything on minimum. My system: Core
