I got the same thing just a few minutes ago playing as the Vasari Loyalists in the dev console. Just chalked it up to messing with unreleased races + playing with dev .exe, but if you got it playing regular also then maybe it is just a general bug.

Last random 10 player FFA I made in the Beta I had no TEC out of any of them. All 9 CPU's were either Advent or Vasari. (Not sure what the sub-faction split was though) Random give some very un-random seeming results at times. ;)

My issue with having it on Steam is that it always has to launch Steam before the game when you want to play it. I'd have no issues buying through Steam, if once I downloaded it I never had to run Steam again until I wanted to buy something else or install a patch. With Impulse I installed Sins through it, and then never touched it again. If Steam were like that I'd have no problem with it, but when I try to launch the game directly w/o steam it just gives an error saying Stea

I'm actually going to defend the OP's opinion that all of the factions should be unlocked, but from a different perspective. As it is now, the faction restrictions have split everyone capable of playing the beta into three groups: Group 1; Currently plays the beta with TEC only as designed. Group 2; Plays the beta modded to unlock the other factions. (May also be playing old release of the beta because they disabled updates to avoid bre

It doesn't make it real obvious, but it's your faction not liking them that was causing you trouble. I'm not sure why you can't decide to like whomever you feel like, since you are you know in charge of your faction, but you can't. The only way to get yourself to like them enough is to consantly request missions. Basically, request credits, then give hem back in an endless loop. It's way to endlessly compliated, getting them to like you s much easier than getti
Quoting Kuunn, reply 5 how did yuo get a titan and 16 caps at same time? I play maps that I make from the world designer, and these maps have 70+ home desert planets which have two crystal and two metal asteroids, and can make you build up to 9 civilian modules (10 for TEC), which means that they are the best planets for resources and expanding, but all of this is at the cost of a reduced population.
&nbs

The Vasari rebel titan has an interesting concept with it's abilities. Basically it has a trigger ability that does a slow DMG/AM drain AOE DOT that has to be applied first before using it's large big hitting ability (and buff it's lvl6 ultimate as well). But both are rather short range, and originate from the center of the titan itself, so to be effective you really need to disable auto-casts, fly it into the middle of the enemy fleet, and set off a set of abilitie
You havent seen its Charybdis_Dark Fleet ability then, i suppose. In current state, once you have it, you just need to research the fleet supply and in a minute or 2, the titan will summon shitload of ships to its coordinates. For free. I never built a single carrier cruiser, despite that, i had 60 wings of strikecraft at my disposal. It is uberly cool, so much, i doubt, it is going to stay like this, once the game is done.
&n

I actually wonder if the Vasari rebel titan is purposefully the worst by far because of their jump-capable starbases? using multiple starbases like this, combined with the Vasari's super weapon being able to create phase lanes directly to enemy planets basically means you could assault a near infinite number of your opponents core planets with titan-like firepower (and even more HP) simultaneously, while still having your entire fleet free to engage theirs. And 1v1 a Vasari starbase

It took me like 10 minutes to find the stupid thing my first game as well. :( I get why it was put where it was (That many logfistics slots being used up would suck badly), but it's very unintuitive. And the message aying you need a capital factory rather than a titan one just makes it that much worse.

it really depends om the titan. Some have a lot more of a bad-ass feel than others. i actually think the TEC rebel titan is one f the cooler ones, as long as you can keep it's AM level up it chews through caps/SBs/titans with rapid fire chain snipes. The Advent rebel titan is amazing for chewing through swarms of ships, and is basically the aoe equivalent of the TEC rebels. Those two are probably my favorite so far, though I haven't gotten the Vasari loyalist up high eno

Also with regards to other options for the Vasari, on of the sub-factions appears to be getting a gentle(ish) nudge toward specializing in a different weapon type, while the other may love their Phase Missiles even more than before.

It would be extremely helpful if the people who knew how to do this would respond to PM's. ;) Or if someone I haven't gotten around to messaging sees this and wouldn't mind messaging me, that would be awesome too. (Email is fine as well if you wan't to keep it of the site completely if I can ever get the flag to show my email address to take) Edit: I give my, my profile doesn't seem to want to save any changes since 2008 lmao. email is ma2k_NOexca
Now there is a good idea! Both of you are on the right track, I think. I was thinking that it would either be part of a larger then normal gravity well, or maybe make for an odd shaped gravity well, but I guess your way makes at least as much sense. I've seen it happen VERY early in Rebellion though. The last game I played, the final AI surrendered with 14 capitals, a lvl8 titan, and several star-bases still left. Now could I have killed him, no doubt (max fleet with 14 lvl10 caps + lvl10 titan). But if he'd parked all of his capital ships, his (loyalist none-the-less) titan, and the rest of his fleet all on top of a star-base (or two even being loyalist faction) he surely could have made it a hel

I like the idea of having moons only accessible from their planet. Also maybe give them a unique set of bonus's that whn explored adds the bonus both to the moon AND the planet it's supposed to be a moon of? What if moons could function as an auxilery government for their planets? (The gravity influence of the nearby planet makes it impossible to aim superweapons at a moon?)

The problem I have with it is that Novalith spam, combined with 'insergents' poping at all of your plants basically means even your innermost planets all need to be bunkered with shield/regen bay/hangers or a Starbase. The ammount of $/M/C you have to sync into every planet just to ensure it isn't randomly killed when it's 5 jumps from the frontlines is huge now. I expect boarder planets to have to be heavily bunkered, but having to do so with core

So are you actually able to play the other two races now then? If so it would be wonderful if you could post the modifications you made to allow it. (or better yet post it as a mod) As someone who's always preferred Vasari, being stuck with TEC kind of kills a lot of the fun of playing the beta. (+ all the skills etc are completely alien)

Just for the hell of it since I'm bored (sorry for DP but it'sbeen like 6 hours :P) I figured I'd throw you a list of which processors to look at depending on which line you choose. (In most cases out of the multiple processors in each catagory only 1 is really worthwhile) Intel Core 2 Duo: E8400 Duo 3.0/6mb > $168 Probably the most popular processor on newegg ri

Nah, not at all. It's really just a matter of making sure you mathc A's with A's, B's with B's, C's with C's etc. I probably over complicated the power supply a bit, the one I reccomended on the fist page. OCZ 700w ($80) Will work for Any ATX (standard) motherboard with and CPU & single Graphics card you may choose, as will any decent (aka not cheap-o brand) 700w+ Power Supply with a

Yeah, when looking for compatabilites between motherboards, procsesors, and RAM there are a couple different areas you need to look at: Socket type (CPU/Motherboard): Intel Core i7 > LGA1366 Intel Core 2 Duo/Quad > LGA775 AMD > AM2+/AM3 (AM3 processors will work in AM2+ Motherboards, AM2+ processors won't work in AM3 motherboards) RAM Type (Motherboard/RAM): DDR2 > LGA775 & AM2+ Motherboards (Core 2 and Most AMD)</

Question, I haven't really researched home server much, but it does look like an interesting proposition. Do/Can you actually set it up using domains etc like you might find on a work or school network? Like where all your login/user data is handled via the server rather than the individual machine & all your files save to the server unless you manually choose otherwise?

12 Replies 23,112 Views

I guess I should probably defend my reasoning for going with an i7 since most people seem to be disagreeing with that choice. 1st off, Nyczzz said specifically he didn't like AMD, and he was looking specifically for a quadcore.
The Gateway, caught my eye mainly because it was the only Quad Core Intel they had in the store, others had AMD and i just dont like AMD
So that rules out the Phenom 2's (which is what I normally would probably go to on an $800-$9

49 Replies 260,700 Views

Thats not a horrible system, but for $800 you could do much better. Hell, for $900 you can just about pull off an i7. (You could if you don't care for more than a lower-midrange video card probably, I'll have to try again. When I playing around on newegg a month or so ago for my step-bro I did a Phenom 2 x4 for like $750, and a i7 for like $950. (both with fairly good video cards, which by the way, the one you picked there has shit for) I just wish there was a way to save multiple car
