I think teh too close thing is due to the herme's weapon range? I wouldn't mind seeing the weapon ranges accross the board being increased a bit, ships like the hyperion engage very very close because of the range of their lesser ranged weapons rather than their beam weapon. It creates alot of problems since they aren't manouvrable, increased range (and decreased power if you want to keep them the same kind of effectiveness) would help keep the battles more

I'm just messing around with how the weapons are set up on various ships, one thing I definately recommend is setting the duration of beam weapons to only 3 seconds, this is long enough for a nice effect but doesn't have the problems of the 6 seconds - where the beam is still firing on destroyed ships that are no longer there, or ships that are warping away. I know in the series you saw alot of longer lived beams sawing through ships, but it does look better with shorter times, also h

Awesome on the nova front guys, I was using the hyperion's mesh on it and this looks much more awesome. Firstly Tobi and the team, Thank you! its all great! though I'd suggest a couple of things 1) For ships that you have no mesh for atm, use the mesh of a done ship with a slight texture change (like a different name on the side) until you have the meshes, its just a placeholder but has MUCH better look and immersion. this is the only area where Sins is really weak imo. Especially in larger maps, planets become nothing but resources, without personality or life; a few empire sim elements would be awesome alongside some cool side missions. however I doubt a mod can give this, and so this would have to come from the core sins game

Perhaps the titan dynamic can be used, but instead of uber ships, you get flagships, which could be modified versions of the base capital ship types; enhancing combat stats or other abilities. E.G. a nebula class that loses its torpedo pod, but gains back its sensor package, giving it range of attack boosts etc. Just throwing that out there, brainstorming etc.
