i agree with all the above, another thing i like to do a little later on that can makes things easier on bigger maps. I tend to ally myself with the strongest faction in my system, that way instead of having to worry about the powerhouse across the way, i can get him to do the dirty work like defend wormholes, while i take out our weaker neighbors.
I'm playing alone against 7 lock-team hard AIs. That's been pretty intense.
Me as well. Diplomacy is the only thing that saved me early on. The most dominating force in my galaxy just happened to be the only faction i completed missions for, so he luved me enough to save me from obliteration about 4 hours in. he doesnt know that once my corner of the system is secured an fortified our lil "peace treaty" is goin out the window. lol

so im about 8 hours in ona huge map and 8 factions, well only 4 now. but anyway, i noticed that all my rockets firing from the lrm's werent showing up, then i had a 20 or so cobalt group focus fire and no matter what the zoom, only a few lazers were visible. even though the lab they were destroying was being crushed pretty quickly. i dont know if its a glitch or sumthing the game does when fleets get big (even though most of my main fleet was sumwhere else entirerly) it kinda sucks. any suggesti

i thought the wait would never end. cant wait to get out of work and play the final version. Feels like i've been waiting for this alot long than i've been waiting for season 4 of BSG. and that already felt like an eternity!

i was under the impression that guns and missiles did not miss. in fact i believe it was one of the reason's ship's dont move during combat. But during the recent blog, he clearly states that your ships fire can miss? so im confused :-P

i also had sumthing similar to this. I sent my vassari recon ship out to explore, and i could see he was at distant planets but those planets where still invisible when i zoomed in on them. and i couldnt see my recon ship either. after zooming in and out and double clicking the picture and tons of other clicks and such, i finally could see the little bugger. for a split second and then things would be invisible again. i never saw what was on the enemy planets but if i held my mouse over the plan

maybe loss of critical systems. FTL's offline warning, Life Support Failing warnings, things like that when ur ship is getting a pounding. but obviously there would have to be sum sort of an option to combat this problem. "emergency repairs" - depending on the level of the cap ship, and if u researched the "veteran crew" option thing thats already available.

the total war series has always done really well with the music, classical or their own kind of drum bangin stuff, but always right on cue with what ever is going on in the battle, u order ur first attack command and the music goes "BAM" into sum "things just got real" kinda way. lol. So far the music seems to be on a good path the way it is IMO

barley worth a post but i just thought of it before i was going to bed, prolly falls in the details card for each ship, but how bout crew size. just sumthing letting me know how many crew are on board, maybe the number goes down if u take damage, but mainly it'd be sweet to see say for example, 100 crew on a flack frigate, and 10,000 on a cap ship, or more or less, adjusting the numbers to make it feel right of course. just lil details, thats what made gal civ awsome was the lil attention to det

i agree with one thing u said 100% the game is lacking in personality. But thats to be expected in a beta. I've said it before but i'll say it again, i have no attachment to any of my ships. any of my planets none of them. but i guess when the story line starts to unfold and random things happen is when it gets good . i dont know how in detail u intend to let us get with our fleets. but im a bsg fan so i v
