I got some hate for my post, hahaha! Seriously, mark my words: Every single patch made on this game is going to have people exploding on this forum claiming this is broken, that is broken, this is now OP, that is a criminal, undocumented change. There will be one for 1.04, 1.05, people will claim that the developers are ignoring\laughing\spiteing their requests\demands and catering to the casual\competitive\power gamers because they are too lazy\stupid\greedy to do exa

Horay! Competitive gaming: Systematically draining the fun out of every game since 2003 http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/02/25 btw onyxia deep breaths more

"Our Enimas Stand Ready!" Man, if I realized I was about to get an enima-- bad enough right-- and realized the injectible could "stand..." man, i'll tell you what, i'd be moving so fast you'd think i'd figured out phasejumping in a grav well. At least we know why the advent ladies eyes are always so bugged out

if i wanted to do massive multiplayer online gaming, i'd go back to world of warcrack. I think i'll stick to massivly single player gaming for the time being. Launch fighters! Seige frigates approach!

I need to get me a date with an advent babe. Those eyes are killer. Too bad about the quasi-futuristic-zombie-jesus thing they're all going on about all the time, but otherwise, daddy like.

Artifacts should be handled... differently. The ones i've found are great! But, it seems something is missing. I know its passe and everybody and their mum wants a deathstar, but an artifact should be a center-of-the-empire-extremely-valuable-megaawesome-thing-that-must-be-protected, and not a box in a window.

Oh i just thought of something I want. Space monsters!!! Why has no one done this one since moo? You colonize some asteroid and oops! Giant space worm busts out and starts attempting to mate with all your capital ships. Retreat!

Zaza, you seem to be turning sins into world of warcraft with your point on speccing. While interesting, if I was an interstellar empire, researching lasers wouldn't generally stop me from researching something else. Spec games would be a great mod but not general gameplay changes.

The list of options you presented are pretty much what we're looking for for this patch. Players must remember its 1.03, not 1.1 or 2.0! For surrendering players: I would like "Vassal States" or some form of slavery\subjugation. They sit there, they orbit stars, they build ships, they don't expand and they cannot attack you. They share your diplomacy, you get vision of their systems\ships, and you get a modest percentage of their credit\resource production each

Yes, not feasable. The pacing is so stately as is I think its unnecessary, though.

I guarantee: this will be improved in expansions. When you do a game, you can try to do everything--- master of orion 3--- and end up with crap. Or, you can do a game-- listen to the users-- and rebuild it, releasing three expansions and double the original cash money you made on the game in the first place, and at the same time make all your customers giddy over the improvements. That is my prediction for what will happen here. I know ill buy expansions.
Leader of Empire service people, not people service Leader of empire, my point of view!
Lies! I will make caligula and nero look like the olsen twins before I'm done with these backward kneed little v-whatever chumps! I've played a lot of 4x strategy games in my day. I remember ripping the plastic off the original master of orion 3 and 1\4" floppies-- or was it a kind of papyrus? Details, details. Anyway, I'm really digging sins. Lets face it though, I am really having a hard time coming up with a 4x game where I feel less connected to the inhabitants of one of my planets. In the original MoO, you sent hundreds of millions... even the women and children... (especially the women and c
Maybe the addition of suply lines, or something like supply lines working with culture. That force fleets to only jump at max of
This is GOOD. Culture, as it is, seems weak to me. Yeah, I suppose if I actually invested in it, it would be worth while. But, it seems like too much butter and not enough guns. I say, partially scrap culture, and work it into a supply network. So lets think: Capital ships are frigging huge. Huge! You should not be able t

Thetraviler: I wasn't around during pre-launch workup. And, I've only played a couple campaigns on single star maps. So please forgive a lot of folks for moon discussion. At current build, no, moons arent necessary-- of course, I still feel wierd that a star can have multiple terran worlds, but I live with it, because its a strat game, not an astronomy sim. Heres my thoughts for moons, though-- you liked my minisystem thought so ive been running with that. --Financially

I just started playing yesterday, but I noticed one thing: I took my very nice fleet and focusfired on one of their three capital ships they had. As soon as it exploded, the AI re did their threat analysis, noticed the big drop in "oomph" and their chutzpah factor plummeted. They turned around and ran. Ran slow enough, however, that I was able to vaporize another capital ship. Throughout the game, that was really the tide turn. My fleet then lumbered off from planet to p
it looks weird that the smallest vessel sustain a heavy fire from capital ship for quite a long time, in babylon 5 if a major cap. ship hits a small cruiser with main beam weaps the cruiser will crash immmediately into pieces
Hm. This is a valid point. It does seem a mite strange that this gigantic battleship with huge frigging cannons on the front of it can't vaporize this little twit of a garbage scow in one shot. The energies involved are too great. <b

Suggestion for moons (from moon thread) Make your gas giants more interesting. Why? If humans ever do bother to get out and about among the solar system, you can bet that the jupiter system will be much more important to us than mars ever will be. Moons should be a minijump from a main gravity well and form their own mini grav well. These can function as a "closet" and exist for economic specialization-- if the player needs that function. Their size means that colonies ther

I ploughed through my first full game last night-- phew! This is going to be a long weekend.

Just picked up the game yesterday, im very excited about it. Perhaps moons could be modded in such as they formed mini-star-systems, each moon having their own small grav well, and requiring minijumps to bounce from one to another. This would open things up like creating specialized economic areas around each one. Using a gas giant as an example, jupiter could control a large, central location-- but rather boring, and you would jump from there to the next planet-- or you could jump ar

I randomly spotted it at best buy-- there was a long haired comp sci graduate student with one copy in his hands, drooling over the box. Chatted him up-- he assured me it wouldn't go down like the second biggest dissapointment in my life (MOO3) or the biggest dissapointment in my life (SC3). So i picked it up, ran the tutorial, looks like it will be a lot of fun ;) Looking at my lifes dissapointments, i guess ive lived a pretty nice life.
