This doesn't seem too difficult, the pirates could just behave as they do now with the added rule that they call off an attack if the bounty drops off; current limits still apply.

I think I'm going to weigh in on the keep-space-clean side of things... not so much because I'm thinking of the children but because I generally associate swearing with immaturity. I like my flagship officers to maintain the decorum their station warrants, they can swear tastefully in private when they're NOT on the comm.
PS. That said, I'd never deliberately give a teacher a hard time. I was definitely one of those kids that HATED the disruptive kids.
Mispronounce a word horribly. We had this one kid in my philosophy class who insisted on spelling Nieztche "neatz-ski". The poor prof just twitched uncontrollably every time he did that. He also came in with a bag lunch and started eating ham and ketchup sandwiches in the middle of lecture, something sure to annoy anyone who catches a whiff. One of those guys who has NO clue how obnoxious he is.
While I see where you graph theorists are coming from, I'm not sure it ever makes sense for you to lose trade income because you built an extra trade port. Maybe the algorithm calculating the length of your trade route should evaluate distance by the number of phase jumps apart worlds are, regardless of whether or not those phase jumps are included in the trade route. That way adding trade ports is always advantageous, it is just more advantageous to add routes at the edges of you
I tried a 46" TV with sins once. It was totally epic until I realized I couldn't read any of the text from where I was sitting. Made budgeting a little difficult when I couldn't see my credit total [e digicons]:S[/e] .
On a side note, I have a one week break from classes this week, so I should have a lot of free time. Just let me know when you guys wanted to have the game.
I'm pretty much an offline only player who's been looking for a good opportunity to get into playing some multiplayer. I've played a grand total of 1 online game, and that was back in v1.02ish... so I'm probably going to be caught VERY off guard by anything goofy humans try. Don't draw any conclusions regarding my experience from the fact that I've had the game since it came out, I've only played the game 6 or 7 times against normal AIs. I just haven't had the time to really
Do we have an official start date yet? You'll probably want to announce it a bit in advance since watch lists are disabled right now
You could make a 3 humans vs 4 CPUs game. Uneven teams would accomplish the "cheat" goal without altering game mechanics.
Always good to consult the wife before making galactic empire affecting decisions :)
I definitely like the idea of everybody having a tech to unlock a (very expensive) extra level of tactical slot upgrades. Defenses seem a little weak for their cost at the moment, but due to the way they support each other their value increases exponentially as you cram more of them into a system. Have to be careful with the balance though, should be expensive enough that you couldn't reasonably upgrade every planet you own without spending so much that you're sacrificing offensive capability.
Just watched that 5v5 Huge Random Fun Game (2/12/2008) Started 10:50 PM EST. I must say, that last fight was EPIC. I thought for sure that the game was in the bag until I saw how effective those two progenitors were at keeping MrFujiKicker's Kol alive.
You're missing the point heflys. The issue is that, as it currently stands, the enemy may fly through the chokepoint and jump deeper into your empire where you do not have as many defensive structures and higher income planets even if you use phase jump inhibitors and a decent defending fleet. The PJI is, in theory, supposed to somehow mitigate this by making it more difficult for the enemy to pass through the chokepoint without engaging its defenders. This would make controlling the chokepoi
You can't dodge upkeep doing this. When you send credits, they're taxed by the receiving players upkeep. You know, two certainties in life: taxes and siege frigate spam.
Never used teamspeak before, but I wouldn't mind trying it out. I guess I'd have to find myself a headset, but that shouldn't be too hard.
It would be very nice if you can keep the replays from breaking every update, esp. with the frequent updates you have with your games. That always drove me NUTS with supreme commander when I found an old post about an awesome replay and I couldn't watch it because of version incompatibilities.
I definitely like that slow phase lane travel idea for the PJI, maybe 2x-3x the transit time per inhibitor. It just feels right, you can still get through if you really want to, and since the delay is in phase space the defender doesn't get a few minutes to just smash the offensive fleet for free. All it means is that a superior defensive fleet can actually do significant damage to the invading fleet by being able to keep up with them. While I certainly don't thing there should be an invincib
The trade ports boost credit flow, although the Advent ones may be set to boost resources. Everybody else has a refinery to boost resources, the Advent have one structure that does both (although it can only do one at a time).
What about raiding planets? How much econ damage would a group of siege frigates nuking a planet do? Not only would your opponent they lose the income of the planet until they can recolonize, but they also have the negative income while the planet is being redeveloped, the loss of population, and they'd have to rebuild all planet developments. Might be more cost effective than attacking orbiting structures, which are generally cheaper to replace than the ships you'd lose in the attack. I kno
I could reliably show up for a Wednesday or Tuesday game reliably, I think. It would be cool to get a recurring game going that we only played for a few hours a day, we might actually finish a game on a large map.
