I have mentioned this in another post, I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules, but my idea seems to fit better in this section. I had a brainstorm for how ships could have an upgrade limit, have custom upgrades (scouts, defenders, etc.), and yet keep micro-managing to a minimum. First, it would probably be a good idea to set an upgrade limit on ships (Only upgrades that would be limited would be engine, sensor, weapon, armor upgrades) so that you don't end up with one player w

he's the emperor, all emperors must have a creepy interest in china. See, I thought he drank a good stiff bourbon, maybe a martini now and again. Now in the MechWarrior universe (Clan: Timber Wolf = Innersphere: Mad Cat) we have tea in a canteen and keep our fine china back at base.(Can't afford to buy any replacements since a good mech costs around 5 Million bucks)

Ok, scratch my last post. I was outside mowing the lawn, and I had a brainstorm for how ships could have an upgrade limit, have custom upgrades (scouts, defenders, etc.), and yet keep micro-managing to a minimum. I would like to suggest that the developers create a upgrade preset creator for ships.(Similar to the MechLab in Mechwarriors) How it would work is as follows: Before you go into multiplayer, you would enter the preset creator and set the upgrades for particular ships and give

Now get me some tea oh god no, the HUMANITY!!! Don't you mean 'humility'? And since when did TGE take interest in precious china? That's like saying Darth Maul has a pet poodle named Scrumptious whom he takes for walks and feeds shortbread cookies.

Ok, what if there was an player option on the toolbar for toggling automatic upgrades on and off? That way players like me who like to design special purpose craft can still do it, and players who hate excessive micro-managing don't have to. I was really hoping that the idea of upgrade limits would get implimented, but it won't be much good if the entire fleet ends up with the same configuration.

Dang it! That's what I get for not downloading the beta version. Oh well, the mercenary company idea will still work, it just won't work quite the way I had envisioned. Guess it all depends on how many members your company has, and what skill levels those members are. So, the point is to hire as many members as possible so you can get a higher ranking and spread your name around. <br/

I have 2 suggestions for the techtree application, so please read both before you respond since they go hand-in-hand. First, I think that once you have researched a technology, ships (with the exception of fighter squads) should have to be upgraded individually, instead of having the upgrade automatically installed on all ships. This would allow you to create two of the same ship, yet give them different abilities. Of course that depends upon number 2... Secondly, I think that

If you have any questions on how mercenaries operate in this game, check out my forum post "Mercenary Bondind Commission" in the multiplayer forum section.

Multianna, you may want to resubmit your company. I updated the site, so you are missing a few things. Sorry about that.

I'm still working out a few of the bugs with my idea. Your Company's profile will appear on the Bio screen, provided that you submitted one in your application. I don't have the game yet, but I was counting on the fact that the game would have a 'trade' screen where you could trade or buy goods from other players. If that doesn't exist, then you would have to make a deal with a player, telling him/her to set a specific bounty on the player they want you to attack. Once you collect that bounty, y

I understand that wealth cannot be transferred from game to game, that you cannot join a game in progress, that the game can only end if only one player wins, and that each game starts from the beginning and is not going on while you are offline. I am not suggesting anything that cannot be done within these guidelines. Players affiliated with a mercenary group simply join a game and play from start to finish. While in the game they simply advertise their services to other players lookin

This 'guild' would be more of a loose club that provided a place for mercenary 'units' to meet, discuss strategy, report collected bounty, etc. When I say 'unit' I am not talking about several players; a 'unit' is one player whos civilization acts as a mercenary company in a game. Members of this guild/club/clan would have a tag in front of their username to indicate that they are a mercenary. Example: [Merc]Timber-Wulf On the website there would be a chart or two that listed the best m

First off, membership in this club would be free provided that the members abided by the rules of conduct for the club. My whole thought had been that if there was some way for a player to transfer in-game money (not real cash) to another player, then mercenary companies could make a decent profit. Let's say that player X is getting his tail kicked by player B. Player X could request the services of player C who is opperating as a mercenary unit. Player X would then transfer some of his
