Technically it isn't Alpha Centauri that forces you to choose which kind of evil- it is 40K. They have -End justifies the means -Utopian -Uncaring -Hungry -Sadistic -War loving -Insane As for the Advent they got kicked out for rather obvious reasons- they were differant in such a form that was incompatible with Trader society. It wasn't any one thing- it was the cumulative effect of all their deviance which made them unaccpetable. They rejected the b

As some people have pointed out, fighters are essentially useless in space. Why? Because they need 4x the delta-v of missles... and life support, a copit and other junk. Plus, missles don't die under ten gs. So no fighters. As for what ships are used, it depends on the strength of defenses. If defenses are stronger than offensive, than ships will be big- larger ones can soak up damage and have a critical advantage- laser batteries. Lasers are a great weapon as they mov
You do realize that making ships out of organic materials is a bad idea? They burn, are really weak, can't take large amounts of stress, fall apart over time... but I guess we can ignore that a little. Rule of cool and all. But you know what would be better? Ceramic ships! I think it has been done before, but high quality plastics and ceramics could make a good design- especially is people have a lot of weapons that are very effective against metal.
It is left undefined because they don't want it set in stone that you are causing mass genocide. Ironclad or Stardock stated it represents "administrators". Personally I think that by the end of a normal game you have probably earned yourself "Butcher of Worlds, Slaughterer of Trillions, Blight of the System, etc...". However most players wouldn't like something like that. Lets not forget how many people you run through in ship casulties...
It's from the beta. It is an inside joke known only to the few. Sort of like the Freemasons of nerdom. No, I don't know it either.
Wow... that would make for a cool game. However, my two cents- expanding planet design and the research tree wouldn't be woth it. A person can only concentrate on one screen at a time and the way sins handles it is "do I want to put money into this section?", not "which part of this section should I concentrate on?" As it is you can specialize your planet, but not to the degree you'd like- civilian and military orbitals take up different slots, where your idea implies using the same cap (I think
I don't know at what level they gain squadrens, but the rest is in the manual. To answer some of your question, yes all the races get more squads and it works essentially the same for all of them. The carrier gets the most (6, 7 for TEC) with other ships ending up with about 3 max. The siege ship gets 1 (?). And I believe the battleship does get more than one. If you have the manual it lists the starting squadrens and max squadrens. It is under the ship section in the back.
You seem to vastly underestimate the power if this... Fully armed and operational battle station! Seriously though, the idea that the population will pretty fine (even from a nuclear attack) if off. First we are bombing from space. So you get to add the conversion of gravitational potential energy to heat when the projectile lands. Second is the fact these ships are big- they have thousands of people. Don't underestimate the size of their bombs. Finally it turns out it is pretty easy to
No. The rational is that the ships are milita. The TEC is a new organization formed from the Trade Order, and not all of humanity were part of it. Plus some were opposed to the TEC use of military necesary. So the worlds are neutral. The Advent and Vasari are completely united and don't have dissident factions... okay, don't have dissident, mercenary factions. I doubt anyone would get their hands on Vasari ships- they have been consistantly winning and on the offensive. Plus a
The diplomacy isn't great (sucks is too strong- Stardock loves to tweak things and fix them, so that will probably be changed). Some of the great things about the game are the interface, the combat and the balance, which all actually work. That and it looks damn cool to use a Marza Dreadnout to pulverize a planet into paste.
Hold your mouse over the credit line- a white line will appear on the map. Any trade ports on that line get a bonus. The line is automatically as long and covering as many ports as possible (but it takes the shortest root). Yes. The more you have the better. However their effects decrease with distance. Additional trade ports give more money, with no diminishing returns. Additional culture give more culture, with no diminishing returns.
Alt and tab. I think that will work (you select the trade station, alt to select all in the system and tab to cycle through them).
The only exception would be weapons upgrades- there are seperate lines for fighters and bombers. Otherwise when they say fighters they mean strikecraft.
While the TEC tech is extremely powerful, so are the max Vasari and Advent. The Vasari's "Returning Armada" lets them flood the world with ships, and the Advent's... sounds sort of weak in comparison- it makes Capital ships level up faster (exp bonus) and automatically get to level 4 (so you don't need to spend credits). On the other hand, level ten Advent worships are nothing to sneer at... Rebels aren't overwhelming if you have defenses in every system. It is expensive and if there is
Some more things (although these are less essential) 1 Each side has a super weapon and an extremely useful ability at the end of their tech tree. 2 Exploration occasionally gives you artifacts and other bonuses. 3 Experience is shared between capital ships and is aquired from being in a gravity well where enemies are destroyed. 4 Never build a fleet of all capital ships, except for the achievement. 5 The ponies and imperials are opposing clans- it has no relevance to th
The Advent can have their carriers squadrens have more fighters in each squadren. They also have Drone Tempest. I haven't used it yet, but I think it gives them the ability to dump out a bunch more fighter. The TEC carrier has heavy fighters which increases the damage and armor of its fighter and its special ability makes all construction in the given gravity well happen faster as well as all its fighter construction occur instantly! I think the devs balanced this out well. The only noticable di
I read it off some one elses post- am I wrong? Because that would suck- I put alot of time and I'm up to 74%... Dang couldn't find the post! This always happens to me... Ignore what I said or ask someone who got a hundred percent. Or just cheat and get all the achievements and see. I know that is possible... right?
Well, some of the planets could be moons. I mean all the ice worlds in our solar system are moons (excpet pluto), and so are several volcano worlds. Plus you can really colonize essentially everything, but gas giants if you don't care about cost or comfort (for the record, it is a bad idea to try to colonize the Jovian moons- the radiation will kill you). Most important differance from reality in terms of realism would be the lack of Binaries and differance in Star sizes. On th
Don't add a single player campaign. Having played Gal Civ, I can safely say that although Stardock makes good games, they aren't good at crafting campaigns. They got better in Dark Avatar though- they should simply do more flexible victory conditions and combat chater so players can simulate storylines. Plus, you shouldn't add a campaign for the same reason you don't have multiplayer in GC. Slightly different levels of cost (okay, large one), but many campaigns people will only play on
Nothing personal, but Star Wars Empires at War had a glaring flaw for me- I could easily get it so I couldn't lose. Makes the game sort of pointless. This will be my forth space RTS after Homeworld, Empires at War and Conquest: Frontier War. I don't play games much, except when I get hocked. I liked Conquest- it is rather similar to this game. Including some of the most common Scifi tropes. Still was a pretty good game. Anyone else played it?
You can build as many as you want. They will harvest from the planet they are based on and the surrounding planets (connected directly by phase lanes- no I don't know if the Vasari can exploit this). However each asteroid can only support three refineries- extras are redundant. So the best way to use them would be to place them in places with multiple connections. And just in case you don't know they give you their own crystal and metal income (based on the asteroids they harvest- I thi
Only altering the starting conditions or researching advent tech (Level one harmony can upgrade it by a third).
The TEC gets bonuses from their labs- structures get built faster with each Civ, frigates get built faster with each Mil. It says so on the card, so they might have changed (or capped it). No one else gets these bonuses.
If you think they are bad, wait for "neutral systems" (see under the map editor). They are fortified worlds- tough nuts to crack without a good fleet.
You get a bonus mod at a hundred percent. Plus you can use the icons to show off on the forums- plus it is good for establishing credibility.
