I have a 3Ghz dual core, Geforce 6800, 2Gigs of RAM and I've never had any slow-downs except at the very beginning of a map for a few seconds. I'd suggest right-clicking on your desktop and going to your NVIDIA Control Panel. Go to MANAGE 3D SETTINGS and look through that list and do some tweaking. I have quite a few gamer friends and they always neglect to check these settings when they have some graphic card issues. This control panel lets you d

I direct connect with IP when I play with my girlfriend. Just do that..why bother with hamachi?
i tried a standalone version of the bailknight mod with 1.12 earlier today and it was giving me a serious FPS hit. I'll try this this version, though since i really really really want to try out these planets!!
I just ordered my copy directly from Stardock. You get to download the game right away, and they mail you a hard copy. Best deal i've seen!
yes, fleet research has it's own research sector now. i have to say, it takes some serious skills to overtake all those planets without ever upgrading your fleet supply!!
the same is happening to me, and i can't find a solution anywhere..port fowarding, router settings...none of it helps.
holy crap! i hope this is fixed in 1.03..or even sooner!
i think you're on to something with the ship chatter thing.
my sins directory is: C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\Sins of a Solar Empire i'm using the download/hardcopy option. i don't know where the config file is from there, but that should point you in the right direction.
make sure you have bloom and anti-aliasing turned off in the mean time. these effects take a serious chunk of video memory and aren't absolutely necessary for a great-looking game. if you have an nvidia card, you can use the nvidia control panel to manage your video card settings over any in-game settings you would be using. if you think this might help, i'll help you with which settings will make the biggest difference in FPS gain.
I think that the idea is that you create the story from there yourself in a way. I lie the sandbox idea much better than a script, personally.
Sorry for douple posting..i can't edit. Sometimes i'll come to a point where i would really like to research a certain ship design, but to do that i'll be needing say..2 more military research structures. I may have to get rid of some civilian research structures at the obvious cost of civilian research. Or..i could try to expand to another planet to take advantage of it's available slots. There comes a point where your only choice is to expand!
That's part of the fun of the strategic decisions this game requires. Do you remove some logistics structures or expand to another planet?
perhaps you'd want to dock them if you were attacked by a large group of flak frigates?
i think you need to go into your interface options and enable pinning of control groups to the empire tree. i think..
