i predict we will create our own... as you said before, intelligence really has no definition... could the AI controlling that evil advent race i just owned in Sins be considered intelligent? it gathers information (via scouts) it uses that gathered information to make a decision about its next action not sure if it examines the results of its actions to gather data for future choices though... space aliens? nah, the space alien stories have been around for millenia, we have

nope, can currently not be stored very long when storing antimatter you need something called a Penning Trap (at least thats the only currently known storage device) which is basicly a toroidal electromagnet that keeps the antimatter inside the problems with this method are as follows: A: only charged particles can be stored, which means no anti-hydrogen atoms if i remember correctly, only antiprotons and positrons B: as more and more are stored, the antimatter particles start to

the simple answer to your question is no there is however something you should be worried about: antimatter weapons http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antimatter_weapon http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2004/10/04/MNGM393GPK1.DTL that zsar bomb someone posted about? a single kilogram of antimatter has the same explosive force antimatter is real, not just a made up plot device, and it is coming... i would give it only 50-100 years before we are

a real pity... i was really hoping to get these games... ironicly, copy protection that is as invasive as this might drive me to pirate games for the first time in my life :\ this seriously makes me consider DLing a cracked version W/O the copy protection system if i am to buy a game, i want it to be one that is worth buying; i WILL NOT sponsor this sort of treatment if EA reads this, i would like you to know: it is not piracy that is costing you sales, it is the l

im a capship fan, so i play as vasari and go for an all capship fleet my fave is the jarrasul evacuator because its like the swiss army knife of capships.... it can colonize, drain planet, obliterate enemy ships with nanites, and disable their jump drives with gravity warhead(good for pre-1.03, as the AI always fled) i try to tech up fast and make up the rest of my fleet with whatever lazy dark armada scum decide to show up :P i personally dont like frigs and cruisers much because th

a single tactic? i digress, my personal style is a single huge capship fleet, playing as vasari and while this patch does nerf vasari down to the level of any other race *gasp! its more balanced than it originally was*, my vasari play style still works well, so to you complaining about vasari sucking now: TELL THAT TO MY JARRASUL! i think he will disagree vasari excell in the late game, thats all there is to it get used to it and quit complaining anyway, enjoy y

to those who think it can only spread to x gravwells, it works more like this: ok, take a straw and blow through it now take about 10 straws and blow through them all at once the air still goes through the 10 straws, but the pressure is a lot less than blowing through one straw, the straws represent the jump lanes culture is just the same, with similar dynamics it can spread forever, but it gets lower "pressure" at every grav well and trade lane that it uses this res
And the wierd part is that im using parts from mods that I have tested on there own so i know they work ok and don't crash the game. So i'm a bit stumped as to why the thing is doing it.
modding is just like pharmacutical drugs, if you take more than one it would be best if you consult your doctor (or someone who made the mod) or you could end up with some bad side effects.... like crashes :) in general, know what everything is and does before you edit any of it, tha

we havent overclocked as far as i know, and the problem has been going on for quite some time, it just has become more and more frequent lately already tried replacing thermal paste and such about a month ago to try to fix the problem.... didnt work might be dust though we havent really replaced any parts or anything in the CPU or fan stuff there that i know since comp was reassembled by my dad (basicly he replaced stuff part by part) the restarts started a long time ag

Recently, our other computer has been randomly restarting, and we suspected it was a heat issue. I finally got around to checking BIOS to see if that was the case, and was suprised at what i saw... We indeed have a heat problem, system heat is a nice steady 30C, but the CPU temp was 72C... and it rose another 5 degrees in the 10 or so mins i watched anyone got any suggestions?

i ussualy go full capship, as i just love how nice and unbreakable they are if used right... once i have about 3 planets including my home planet i have enough to start cranking out capships most smaller games i only lose a max of about 3 caps per game, large maps ussualy dont lose any capship factory is really nice to have around tho just in case, so that if your fleet does somehow get pwned by spam or something u can build yourself some new capships faster than your enemy

i personally love making a full capship fleet... i find frigates to delicate for my tastes, as i do not really like losing half my fleet every battle a 16 capship fleet is really expensive, but it counters pretty much anything as long as u keep em alive long enough to get about level 4... ive only played a single multi game all the way thru, as my comp crashes randomly for some reason... probably overheating anyway... enough babbling... i would suggest that every f

indeed, after you win, you are stuck in a "win" position, as are your allies at the time therefore, the AI can't lose (and thus be eliminated) because they have already won ive come across this before in my games, and it is more or less a way of saying "Game over, you win, but you can keep playing even though there is no point if you want to."

they should reduce the planetary bombardment ship's hp alot more i had a capship with a bomber squadron, and it still only managed to take out 2 or 3 of the 10 krosovs before the planet was dead

i ussualy have a single 16 capship attacking fleet, owns every fleet ive come across, i dont like frigates, so instead of bothering to build em i use the dark armada to do it for me and use them as planetary defenses i like the Jarrasul Evacuator best, cus its so nice and multipurpose colonize: good for colonizing gravity warhead: excellent for keeping enemy capships from jumping away to safety disassembling nanites: these do a total damage equal to 600,900,1200 with levels

in adition to the lrms, send in some groups of about 7 or 8 krosov seige frigates, this, as it stands now, can normally kill a planet with lower defenses or wil only a small defending fleet an early attack by seige frigates, if sent to areas far apart in their empire will keep you and your fleet occupied and split up so you dont lose planets, by the way, this is a strategy the AI seems to like... and it works quite well :P seige frigates are fast and in numbers do tons of dmg to planets

k, about the demo, i would guess its still gonna be another month, i would buy it if i were you :P hehe i already did and its great look it up on youtube for some info and such u can gather from it the TEC are basicly the human trader coalition changed into the trader emergency coalition to defend against the dual threats of the Vasari and Advent there ships are more or less converted merchant vessels except for some of the capships (namely the Kol) since their ships are con

1. need a vaccuum chamber for experiments? just open an area to space and let it decompress... 2. space is very chilly, as mentioned above.... meaning less material needed to lower the temperature of lab equipment, most physics experiments these day IRL require supercooled magnets to run effectively, exposing them to the freezing cold of space would lower their temperature, reducing the need for as much cold materials such as liquid hyrdogen (or was it helium...) and liquid nitrogen
