Quoting DirtySanchezz, reply 19 What if you had a choice of 200 playable custom maps for 5v5? Would it really be possible to master all of them? Doesn't matter...someone hosts a game on a map, for all you know they play that map all day and you've never played it...sure, it's new to you, but someone will know it and it'll be a game of "Who knows map best?"... Twin Empires is a good map to play 4v4. Reason for this is the noob will always start 2 gravs from another player who is on his team and will have to help him out . Hard to rush on the map too.
The only problem with the Hugh Random games , is the starting positions being random. In Skilled games , the random positions is a bonus as its challenging our ability to respond and adapt. And skilled players can trust each other to feed , help out fleets and generally build enough units to stave of rushes to the mid-late game To the Casual gamer unforuntately this means possibly starting 3 gravs from an enemy who might just rush you before you can put down your first civil l
oooh i didnt know that. Is the dev.exe mode in the sins folder?
Would it possible to have a "unit test map" made Basically a 1 player map , where you have two sides. Each side has all the buildings of all 3 factions and the ability to instaspawn every unit or defenses And you can test units from each side to attack each other Similar to the unit test map in Starcraft 2 .
Most people are not playing with vasari until the next patch Im a vasari player from entrenchment and im not using it. Anyway peace out Amish It was great to have atleast that one epic team game with yers!
Fix storm front aswell! set positions so its one side vs the other.
4 v 4 is the stable of diet of sins mp. always has been. 5v5 to a lesser extent if theres an excess of players. But the only map worth a damn is 4v4 Random (single) This map is not fully random. Its only random within a fixed template so its not a different expierience each time its played. its infact the same expierence each time - so I regard it as ONE MAP . And because of random positions there are varying degrees of how fugged up the map is. we need new flavou
Ok , how about this.. Get the auto-sav feature to save every 1 minute. 5 sav files overwriting... Then something in the game, thats constantly checking that players are sync , maybe every 20 seconds. Then if the game detects a desync , a message pops up saying "de-sync has happen , Re-Host from Savegame250.sav etc" Every player then has to click okay to acknowledge it which then returns them all to lobby to rehost. At worse you only lose a minute of pla
im finding that im getting consistant desyncs with certain players. Is that a clue to the problem?
Whether Sins can have a pro scene? Firstly we are talking a pro scene as an environment where players strive to improve and get better at the game . Take Starcraft 2 which has this environment. Im platinum 1v1 , Diamond 2v2 3v3 . APM of 80. - so roughly above average player. But because of the "environment " - I load up unit test map to try out differe
Why doesnt anybody play Fixed map games anymore? Why is everyone playing Large/Hugh Random?
Is everyone playing Rebellion , or is it stll entrenchment , diplomacy? downloading rebellion now on steam.
I agree with the original poster on smurfing issue. You cant play 100% all the time. If you know the opponents are good , then its worth concentrating and going all-out because winning the game or atleast seeing how well you can do is compensates for the tedium of APMing 50+ , microing and concentrating. But against smurfs , how do you know? It might not be worth it and its annoying to know that a game you havent mentallity prepared to go all out in , happens to be a

Starcraft 2 has over 1 million at peak times, Its mind boggling when I used to be really excited when sins had more then 200 people at peak times , and to an even greater extent , when I used to be excited that Homeworld 2 had 20 players online. Now im quite happy learning starcraft 2 , because its so easy to get into a game
Quar , Ive been bitten by the starcraft 2 bug.
Ive always had this idea of 1v1 , but you have 5 players controlling each side. It be really cool , because some people can concentrate on expansion and economy , others can uber-micro capital ships whereelse others can choose to work the smaller units. Id come back to sins if they allowed this. The best thing is , if one guy drops , it wont make much of a difference. It would be fun for noobs.
ICO should list the players that are "in-game" ,greyed out in the lobby list . They should show how long the players have been "in-game" for , and also pop up information about the name of the game , when it started , and how many people are still in the game to give an indication of when its finishing. What is happening now is you can join the lobby as the only person there and it feels damn lonely . You decide to leave then sods law occurs - 8 people finish their ga
Before 2 minute you could take off in case someone dropped in making the match, after that it was either a win, loss or disconnect (which were recorded and looked worse then losses).
This would be horrible in sins. If theres people out there who would AFK and force you to spend hours mopping up planets in a game without rankings , then imagine what would it be like if there was rankings Players would AFK if they are losing and the opposition has 3 choice
Hey Sanchez , I might make a few maps ..was wondering if you wanted to have a look at them and maybe put a few into your next update. thinking of four designs , which play on addicted qualities of maps - MicroBond ( a theory I have about small micro maps being uber addictive - as this phenomena occured when I made this map in Homeworld 2. Everyone till this day just kept on hosting and playing this one map which was just squished and close quarters. Its populari
One word : EGO If a player with an ego whos looking out for his own reputation gets hindered in a team game by a newb , the best course of action to keep this player in the game (if hes passionately pissed off) is to ackknowledge to him that the reason he has lost has nothing to do with his skill but that of the noob and the resulting loss will have no damage to his reputation. normally by this stage the ego skilled player calms down and accepts the acknowlegment and sta
Im using vista and the thing that annoys me and copy and pasting into a new directory. Half the time i paste accidently into a folder in the directory or even into a zip file. Theres like a tiny bit of space where you can paste something
