I just finished a game with 5 AIs on hard difficulty (no teams). Near the middle of the game one of the AIs would send a fleet to attack my planet but when it arrived it would turn around and retreat. It was caught in "ping pong" mode. It must have repeated this 12 times or more till I stationed a fleet of light carriers with bombers to destroy them when they popped in. I notice the ping pong mode too. infact im kinda exploting it too easily atm. If
P5yy
meh the confirmation code to register on the forums sucks.
Psy Fighter - The Advent decoy projection fighter.
Call it a P5y cannon instead.
interesting game, Ill have a look. The resources looks good. Not too sure how ill cope without zoom but ill try.
The pics are iincredible. Which is great because im getting my new pc soon.
Ok this is driving me crazy playing both Sins and Supcom. Just today , I asked a player in Supreme Commander to go TEC.
This game is going to be an absolute joy to mod
Where are people positioning their turrets? I place my turrets as close to the planet as possible. Im not really concerned with plugging the phaselanes (also what automatic placement places them and the AI ) as people have already said , its already easy to bypass guass platforms. I just surround my planet with them , so they are in anti-siege positions.
The sun is the greatest strategical asset to a game. Imo it represents an ocean - a way of attacking another player and all adjacent systems are like ports. You control all the ports and you have the advantage in strategy. In games i play, all my fleets use the Sun for movement. I move to the sun, then hit an enemy planet connected to the sun. Taking out this planet almost feels like a d-day landing. the fact that you need to travel through the sun taking longer then the enemy who probably has a
I think the low end performance of Sins is amazing. Sometimes I cant believe it. Im on a Celeron. A celeron!.
People are totally forgeting that you have hangars. Hangars = fighters. Means you dont need flak cannons or any other fancy weapons. Fighters and Bombers can go anywhere in the system meaning its an effective defence against sieges or quick moving frigates that try to bypass the guass cannons. My only concern atm is that as an attacking player , you are better off NOT engaging guass cannons as you hyper in and instead move your fleet past it to the other side of the grav well , an
Imo , games on ladder will have to be designed on fast small maps to play under 45 mins . Although alot might think that you could have bigger maps and have games that last 1-2 hours thus involving more aspects of sins then just cobalt rushing the problem arises that games like this could last anywhere between 1-10 hours. A game thats designed to rush usually has a smaller time-spread , I estimate at 30min
I think there is room in Sins for fast paced competative 1v1. I would like the 1v1 to actually be on set maps , so that the "hardcore" can go about honing their abilities to a specific map. Ofcourse , theres the whole issue of "you need to adapt" for random maps , but in competative play ..people need name specific maps that they can say "im good at" , or "im crap at" or "i need practice at" etc I envisage 1v1 as less then 10 planets lasting no more then 30 mins. 1 pirate per asteroid ,
I doubt people will complain. Atm we are hearing not enough sound effects and the cobalt frigate sound effects.... uuurggh
(5) Bombers autotarget other strike craft (which they can't hit) when there are other valid targets around. They just keep circling around each other. Yeah, i've seen this. Kinda annoying, but are you sure bombers can't hit other fighters in a last-ditch situation? Hmm ,I always thought bombers could engage fighters as a last ditch.
I really like this idea.
I actually want to see something thats able to counter planetary sieges. Like planetary defences that are able to hit any ship that comes within sieging distance of the planet from any side. I would make it weak tho and upgradable in research or upgrading the planet at a costly price. Balacne is key.
Testing 1v1 expert small maps , I simulated how long a 1v1 should take. Settings I used - No flags , no maurauders , low resources , 1v1 hard AI , 1 star 10 planets. I played 3 games with the Hard AI. What concerns me a bit is that my games lasted around 1 hour to 1hour 30 mins. The general strategy I used was to colonised my side then Rush Tech to Kols , Rushed in and killed every AI planet with 3 Kols backed up with Cobalts. What concerns me is
Im glad I watched the movies to recap on what happened in the books. One thing im not liking in this book is all the references to things I read in potter books years ago. Im pretty much flipping back to understand things. I guess since its the last book they have to rap up all the loose ends from the whole thing.
One thing that Ive noticed is that everytime theres a colony frigate in a system with a fleet and I want to select the fleet through the pip system , 95% of the time I dont want the colony frigate to be included in my fleet.
ps - i hate you all since im only half way through the book.
The alternate harry potter 7 book. Completely different plot. A few errors and its only a draft but damn man , its really good. Dont know if it was written by rowling ,but it has that potter charm about it so id bet it is. http://sifre.uw.hu/HP7_petunia_version.pdf WWW Link
I like steam because everything is priced in dollars and the exchange rate with the UK is brillant.
- Im finding it difficult to manually target metal and crystal extractors. I seem to keep on clicking the asteroid , and can only manage it by zooming in and panning the camera down - I still feel the Sova needs 3 fighter slots to start with.
