Why not have the pump on the bottom (like in the first picture) and a rubber tube connecting it to the Y pipe (second) ? -The Y connection seems like it would give more power; less direction to change. -Move the breach up if you can, it will help increase air pressure (less room for the air) but might make it harder to open -leaks shouldn't be a problem if you use some kind of sealant on the PVC, biggest risk is on the rubber tube The second design looks much che

Well, it eventually will stop due to gases being released due to the temperature. Gases and debrey will also help stop it. And lastly (given enough time and conditions) light will stop it.
